    Hi, can it blow cold air without mist? (Colder than a normal tower fan)

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  3 місяці тому

      Yes if you don't put water in the tank. But if you want it to be colder, you'll want to add ice water to the tank. Then it is always is pulling from the water tank to cool the air, but you won't really notice mist unless you turn on the misting/humidity button.

    Hello, do you think this would be a viable option to use in a two-car garage? Some of the space is used as a workout area and I’m looking for an affordable solution to cool down the area during workouts. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  2 місяці тому +2

      Maybe? But if your garage gets anywhere near as hot as my garage gets in the summers, this wouldn't be my go to. While it blows nice cool air and can certainly cool a space in your garage while it is running, it's designed to be a quiet evaporative AC for indoor spaces. I think the better - and lower-priced - option for workouts is the good old box fan. While it just blows air around, it blows it as such a higher rate that it'll give you more of a blast of air to help cool down.

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  Місяць тому +1

      No! I wouldn't use it if it leaked as that'd damage my flooring! Sounds like you have a crack in your water tank or the piping. If you still can, I'd return it. You're the first person who has shared this in the year since I made my first video. Hopefully it's not a issue on newer models.

    Do you have an update after 2 months? Any signs of mold? How do you clean the tank?

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  8 місяців тому +8

      I actually got this last spring and used it all summer. I failed to check the tank at first and it started getting yellowed on the sides. Was able to wipe it out with diluted white vinegar and a rag. Not the easiest to get everything so I was pretty good after that at emptying and scrubbing it out every few weeks. I’ve stopped using it for the winter, but made sure I fully cleaned and let it dry out before putting it away. It’s in great shape.

    i live in a studio .. does this thing actually drop temperature or does it just give airflow ?

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  Місяць тому +3

      It made an enormous difference in our bedroom last summer. It will drop the room temperature as long as you have ice water in it. I think it gave our room a good 10-15F drop when we ran it on full blast with ice water in it. And it definitely felt cooler than that when the air was focused. My husband had his desk in our bedroom and had this Dreo aimed at him all day. He was able to keep it at a lower fan speed so it was almost silent while it kept him cool.
      But while this is the best evaporative cooler (aka swamp cooler) I've ever used, it's not going to compare to a window AC unit.

    • @alderandjade

      You do not have to put water inside! If it is empty, this will operate like a regular tower fan.

    Hello 👋
    Im wondering if this can actually produce mold on my walls if it mists moisture?

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  Місяць тому +1

      It probably could if you already have really high humidity and no air circulation where you are. We live in the Pacific Northwest and it has been getting super dry and hot in the summers when we use it so there is no chance of this causing mold for us.
      But this goes for all evaporative air coolers (aka swamp coolers). They are better is low humidity spaces.
      Another thing to be aware of is keeping the tank clean. If you don’t, that can grow mold and spray the moldy water into your room. Not good!

    • @alabamatrixie7379

    Im concerned about humidity or moisture buildup on interior surfaces so can I get away with only placing the cold packs instead of ice water in the tank?

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  16 днів тому +2

      I'm not an expert here so hopefully someone else will chime in too, but I'm pretty sure the water is the key piece. The ice packs are only there to keep the water cold.
      The whole concept is that the hot air is blown across a special cooling pad that has soaked up the cold water. The water absorbs the heat and evaporates as cool air gets blown out the other side. But these only work well in lower humidity areas. If the air is already very humid, it won't be able to absorb the cooler water nor will it be able to evaporate quickly.
      We live in the PNW and used this all of summer 2023 in our bedroom. It was on a wood floor blowing right at our bed. We never had any moisture issues. We actually used it to dramatically improve the terrible house AC. So we had it set up in front of the vent and it worked beautifully.

    Hi I have one of these and it’s working fine but what I noticed it’s that it doesn’t use up all the water when it reaches the minimum, it leaves alittle at the bottom
    Does urs do that too? Or I have a defect?

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  8 місяців тому +2

      Mine does that too. And you do need to pay attention to it or it can get gross. I do my best to wipe it all out with a rag whenever I remember to. Putting some distilled vinegar in it for a few hours first before you scrub and rinse helps too.
      I will say that it's better than others I've tried. A few didn't give me a way to access inside of the water tank at all! And I haven't found one that completely uses all the water on its own.

    I know this is 10 months ago but i live in a small space with no window do you think this is good to get and put in that area? a lot of my fans blow just hot air and I'm scared even if it is cold air it will end up blowing the hot air instead like my other fans do already

    • @alderandjade
      @alderandjade  3 дні тому +1

      This Dreo *should* make a difference if you are in a small space. I definitely preferred the cold air this produced and the quiet sound over our box fan that felt like it was just pushing the hot air around.
      But we did end up getting a 14,000BTU window air conditioner in the end as evaporative coolers only can do so much.
      Before we leveled up, I found that this lowered the temp in our bedroom by about 4 degrees when the temp was in the 90s and by almost 8 degrees when the temp was in the high 70s and it could make more of a difference. The challenge is that, if the room is too hot or too big, the difference this makes gets washed out by the heat/space before you'll even notice it. AND this works best in a space with low humidity so the air is capable of soakimg up the cool moisture. If you have high humidity, these won't make much of a difference.
      TLDR: It could be great for you! Just depends on the size of your space and your humidity level.

    • @alderandjade

      The Vissani looks similar, but is not the same. I can't tell you how the Vissani will work as I'm unfamiliar with it. Dreo is a legit brand that I can't imagine would white label their products.
      For the Dreo, it made a huge difference for us last summer. We used it solely to keep our bedroom cool. As long as we kept the door closed and it running all day, it keep the room 5-8 degrees cooler than the rest of the house.
