      Thank you very much for your kind words. You don't know how much I appreciate it. I've been meaning to do so many other videos but just don't have the time. 😢 But again I am glad you enjoyed this little video.

    Omg. I love this. Whenever I bring this up in a zill lesson they look at me like I’m from out of space. Great lesson. And camera angle is perfect- mirrors what we see on our own hands.

    • @TommyMarcinek
      @TommyMarcinek  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much Stefanie! Actually, to get that angle, I literally had to wrap my arms around the camera. So, I had my hands in front of the camera which was practically right up against my chest, and my arms were wrapping around it. LOL! It's hard enough playing Zills without all that. Heee heeee!!! Thanks again! Happy dancing!!!! Also, check out all my FREE music on my website. Lots of Belly Dance stuff, but also lots of other genres, some you may like, others you may not. But I've made all my music Free to download and share with no restrictions. All you need is an email address to access all downloads and you can just make up one if you want. I NEVER, EVER contact anyone on that email list. It's just not my thing. I write and record music for the love of it only. My website: tommymarcinek.com or TweetTweetMusic.com Lots of Belly Dancers have even used some of my non-Belly Dance music to dance Belly Dance! Also, check out my drum rhythms on here. Just do a search with my name tommy marcinek in the search bar and lots of stuff should come up. :-)

    Good idea to show the zill patterns for also left handed people so that they can follow directly.

      Thank you so much for the kind words. I really wanted to do this....make a video that is very basic but that also has enough music theory in there to help it make sense to those who want to know a bit more of the technical aspect of playing them. :-)

    🌹💙 During the first half of the tutorial, when you demonstrated without zills-only using your fingers, I was becoming disappointed; but with the second half of the video-wow, just awesome-totally awesome! Thank you! 🙏

      @TommyMarcinek  Рік тому +1

      Thanks so much! Yeah, I tried to keep the first part short because it's technical, but I wanted to cover it. Looking back I should have at least shown a brief clip of that second part up front. 😊

      @@TommyMarcinek Yay!!! I’m so glad you’d consider it! After your video I’m hearing the potential for zills in all my favorite songs. you’re a wonderful inspiration. I am a baby beginner at this. But I always believe with any creative endeavor, it’s great to play free and intuitively, and then learn method. That’s just me

    • @TommyMarcinek
      @TommyMarcinek  3 роки тому

      @@mellio9077 :-) Well, I started at the beginning, using simple language (well hopefully....lol) and focusing on the beginner. However, as you know, I did some improvisation with them to illustrate how cool Zills are and just how much you can do with them! You can make music with them!!! I am so happy that you liked my little video. I'm so busy with all kinds of stuff, so I don't know when I can get around to doing another one of these. I do audio multi-track mixing/editing (for my songs and for other bands), and video editing and projects too. Plus, I'm working on a short film now that I am producing, and video work for a project that my family is hoping will go viral. So, my plate is quite full. But I will try. :-)

      @@TommyMarcinek wow that’s really amazing!!! well I’m a new subscriber so I’ll keep an eye out for your new videos. I thought your zill lesson was perfect, and I like your teaching style. I like how you covered the method (it made it easy to catch on), and how you went straight into improvisation with it. The sound was beautiful and it was really inspiring.

    Which is the nomenclature for fastest rythm?

    • @TommyMarcinek
      @TommyMarcinek  3 роки тому

      Please see the video, where it shows in the very beginning, the breakdown of the notation, i.e., quarter notes, eighth notes, and then sixteenth notes. That's all you need to know to play the rhythms at any tempo. Thanks. Tom

    What if you are left handed?

    • @TommyMarcinek
      @TommyMarcinek  4 роки тому

      Even if you are left-handed, I still would recommend you playing them the way you see on the video. My brother is left-handed and learned to play the bass guitar "righty" and he wound up being one of the best bass players in NY back in the 70's. You will develop the proper "muscle memory" to play no matter if you are lefty or righty. However, if you want, just reverse the instructions as far as what I am explaining and don't really look at the video, just use the opposite hands for the playing if you want to play them lefty. I hope this information is helpful. Thanks for your comment. Happy "zilling." :-)

    • @levanahbatlila859
      @levanahbatlila859 4 роки тому

      Tommy Marcinek What about at least mentioning the lefty righty dilemma just so people know you are aware of this.
