I think the shuffle he does to his right, when he gets the guys hips balancing on his own (when knee is torqued), would render the posting arm useless. This is the detail I think I've been missing from watching previous vids on this sweep. Thanks for making me analyse the position more.

MCHiphopotamus I could be completely wrong but when I see counters in bjj it seems to revolve around stopping the things the attack needs, in this case the sweeper needs to hook the leg with the free hand, I would think that hand fighting with the intent to control and when you loose that battle possible sprawling the leg out could slow the effect, also under hooking the side not in the hand fight. And work on your pass as the hand fighting is occurring with an understanding of what the sweepers needs. Imho

Denying him the necessary grips would be the best.

I find that these sweeps only work on smaller or the same size opponent if not in the moment of rolling I must be doing it wrong.

This is one of the strongest Half Guard sweeps out there yet Lucas is one of the few who hits it regularly.

Try stretching out with a sprawl and prevent him from shutting down your post. Keep your post active and experiment with your head position.
