- In this video, Black Belt, Clint Crabtree shows four different ways one can escape, sweep or submit from the half guard. Ever wonder what to do if while escaping half guard, your opponent whizzers your arm? Find out in this video from GRBJJ Training!
He sounds like Johnny Knoxville! Lol 🤙 great video tho!
This guy sounds like he's from Wisconsin or Michigan.
You know a gi is old when it has turned purple. Thats the reason for the belt system coloring i guess
9 yrs later and I still use this video as the best half guard video breakdown. I’ve won matches cause of this video right here.
Cersei sure is safe with you :v
The production value is a bit low but don't be misled by that. This is good solid jiu jitsu, well explained, well shown and actually effective techniques. I have used these techniques effectively against guys 40 kg heavier than me and much higher belt ranks than me.
For a beginner just learning defense, this stuff is gold.
First sweep will fail if your opponent will know how to defend himself.....as a wrestler i know that you never sweep the opponent from the side of his free leg because he can put pressure and defend...you go always from the side he has his leg trapped
great techniques!
Great video, easy to see and hear, clear and articulate.
No striking in Jiu Jitsu, so it's a light guide -BOOOOM!
And that's how you light guide the hell out of a dude
There is striking STRIKING in jiujitsu!!!

Scooot scoot scoot who else has that ring in there ears when they do this move 😂
Great Video....Very informative
The sweep at around 4 mins you need to really hook the opponents ankle higher, or it just wont work.
thank you for the techniques. i have been working on my half guard game for two months now and i am still getting frustrated. i cant get anything to work. can u show us the kimura from half guard from bottom position
The key is fighting for good position before attacking sweeps, and chaining things together based in opponent's reaction, particularly the triple threat of taking the back, getting into base and driving him over, or when he drives back in rolling him the other way. Learning to be fluid and thinking ahead and not forcing things is key to jiu jitsu but takes time. Drillers are killers!
@@TheRosyCodex i think that's my problem. i force things a little too much. i can get the kimura grip from bottom, but i have a hard time finishing it.
@@itsthemuscledad38 yep that's why I recommend drilling a lot. Get 50% or less resistance and speed from your [artner and you can get the feel of more fluid jiu jitsu and then gradually speed it up and increase the intensity. As for the kimura from bottom half guard, it is very difficult to finish. It can be used to force the opponent to roll and get on top, where you might be able to get the submission (see Lachlann Giles videos on this), but IMHO it's better to go old-school with half guard; focus on making space with the knee shield, getting the underhook, and getting up on your side. Also it's good to have a plan if you lose the underhook and get flattened. But stick to basics in general is my advice
Very helpful thank you
Great video thanks.
