The first pecan pie i ever made.... I was a new wife and a new cook. I wanted to surprise my husband with his favorite pie..pecan. To make a long story short. It called for cornstarch to thicken. Well, i added what it said to add, but the corn starch didn't thicken. So I added more.......and more.....and...well 1 entire box of cornstarch later, it started to and did thicken very well. Not knowing or understanding how cornstarch worked.. i ended up with a very delightful pecan pie, and when you bit into it, stretched for a mile...the cornstarch created a creamy toffee like substance. The pecans...im not sure where they went but they disappeared. None to be found. Maybe i boiled them to oblivia.. But my husband was a trooper and ate every bit of this pecan flavored toffee chewy pie.. Oh, those were the days, lol
You can substitute corn syrup for the table syrup, that's what I use. I've also done one with walnuts and maple syrup, great combination. Have a safe and healthy New Year.
That appe pie recipe is amazing. I've made about 15 of them. I used Granny smiths and it's the best pie ever. Even making a few for our church new years service... Thank you for that recipe and all the others you have shared.
Yeah and I'm old too, remember asking my grandmother what on earth that strange looking cup was for ~ I thought it was to drink a certain amount of medicine!
I'm so thankful that her recipe is not the one with the gelatinous layer from Karo syrup. I made an older recipe of this from the early 1900s recently and I'll try this one next. I love molasses. I put a lot of molasses in my chocolate chip cookies. Give it a signature and homemade taste I think. Thanks for another fun and useful video
I was given a Betty Crocker cook book for a gift at my bridal shower. Best gift possible. Don't use molasses use Karo light syrup. You can also use walnut instead of pecan. Great
It's always a treat to watch you two recreate Grammies recipes. You might try substituting light Caro syrup for the molasses. That nifty measuring tube looks fab. Wishing you both a very Happy New Year! More wonderful videos please ❤❤
Oooo my favorite 🎉. That's a cool tool for that kind of gooy stuff, just a tip: if you for some reson don't have your tool, lightly spray the inside of the cup that you are using and it will slid out🎉 Thanks 🤗 JO JO IN VT 💞☃️
Hey Guys , the reason you did not pre-heat the oven is cause you are missing your aprons ............. "SADIE"............. Just busting chops ........ everytime i use the oven i always forget to turn it on , even if i am making dinner with it . go figure ! Happy New Years to yas both !
mr daniel tirn the heat on in the house so you can take that hoodie off you know people that work outside i understand stay more comfortable all the time with a coat on in or outside
Grammy has to have enough Recipes to Produce a “Grandma Och’s Best Selling Recipe Book”. She is the True Queen in the Kitchen. GOD Bless! 👍🙏

Woah! I'm going to try THAT!!
It was so cute watching Sadie try a piece knowing she doesn’t like molasses. Quite the trooper. Thanks guys. ❤❤❤❤

My grandma used to use white Karo syrup in place of molasses
So glad you are capturing Grammy’s recipes. They are a treasure now and you will be so happy in the future too.😍
So pleased to see that the new mixer blade is working well for you!

Looks delicious. I use pure maple syrup to make mine. So so good
Oooo my favorite 🎉.

😊🙏🏻happy new year
Looks delicious
Yummy
In the old days a pecan was something people kept under their beds at night
Tell us more!
@@susiestahit kept people from having to go to the outhouse in the cold and dark !! lol another name for it was a ‘thunder jug’
I only use brown sugar, Karo , and butter in mine. No molasses.
And vanilla extract.
@ and eggs.
Oo, hummingbird cake my fav
If you don't like the taste of blackstrap molasses, try sorghum molasses, generally made in the South and has a lighter flavor.
Does Granny have a recipe for a Jam Cake if so I think that would be a good one to make.
Good day to all.
It impossible to have too much pie. Please make it a seasonal tradition.
❤❤
I've always wanted to make a pecan pie. You two made it look so easy... I just may have to make one soon. Btw, Grammy needs her own yt ch.😊❤
The recipe for the best pecan pie it’s on the back of a Cairo syrup bottle
I think it’s spelled Karo and I agree. Super easy and delicious
Add a pinch of salt & tsp of vanilla❤️
Where did you get that measuring cup?
a subscriber sent it to us!
Sure you can substitute the molasses for either honey or maple syrup.
I guess I missed the apple pie recipe. Did you print it? I’d love to have it
They made a video on it. If you click on the videos table it should show all the videos I've made so far
To Danielle and Sadie can you guys please tell me what a souffle is THANKS it's been wrestling by Brian for quite some time. From Perth Australia 🐨🇭🇲.
It’s even better if you add chocolate chips and bourbon. 😋
Use Karo syrup and the recipe is on the bottle
Maple syrup is also tasty.
👍👍👍👍👍👍 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Just busting chops ........ everytime i use the oven i always forget to turn it on , even if i am making dinner with it . go figure !
Happy New Years to yas both !
You can use clear corn syrup it'll have a different taste.
Yes you must have whipped ream on top!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
😊
Every pecan pie I've made has brown sugar and corn syrup instead of whatever table syrup is and white sugar
Use dark Karo brand syrup instead of molasses. Tastes better.
Try it with dark karo syrup.
Do you think you could convince Grammy to appear on camera to teach you how to cook one of her recipes?
Molasses is so healthy for you. It has magnesium in it.
mr daniel tirn the heat on in the house so you can take that hoodie off you know people that work outside i understand stay more comfortable all the time with a coat on in or outside
Pecan pie gives me gas but it still looks good!
Make something other than dessert please.❤
Most difficult pie to judge.
Haha, I am so uncultured here in berks county I never even ate a pecan until last year.
You can pee in a can, but you eat pecons..
You need a bigger cutting board.
I make mine with 1/2 corn syrup and 1/2 maple syrup!! NO molasses. lol
Love Grammy's recipes ! Not Betty's
Pecan pie isn't my favorite either I'm an apple or pumpkin pie person. 🥧🤤👍
Instant pudding can’t compare to home made
Whip cream on pecan pie? Not for me.
Fun fact.. pecans are a fruit. It's only logical they make excellent pies lol.
Took it out too soon
Do you have some sugar-free recipes.... Using STEVIA????
