Fittonia beautiful easy caring plant. I got few of them. I just kinda ignore them and they are brilliant. They tell you when they are thirsty and give em water and bounce back after a good sip. I kept mine away from direct sunlight and less light is ok for this lovely guy. Just don't over water it and that's it. Such an easy caring boy 😄😄😘
Yes I love mine! I freaked out the first time he drooped on me asking for water, I never saw a plant move so fast! I was like wth did I kill you already?! But now I learned he's just letting me know what he wants and now I can anticipate when he likes water before he droops to ask for some. And yeah he doesn't need water as often when he's not in the direct sun, I have to give him more when I leave my curtains open
I had three small pink fittonias that I put in a terrarium . The two on the more shallow (soil) side of the terrarium have been growing strong since they were planted, but the one in the deeper portion of the terrarium seemed to “die off” and became a little dry stick in the dirt, but I didn’t remove it. Several months later, I suppose once the roots of it reached deeper into the water table, it sprung back to life and is developing new growth. I was so surprised that it wasn’t dead. Fittonias are very dramatic when they don’t have enough water. But they’re definitely little troopers, and gorgeous to boot! One of my absolute favorites!
FromComedyToTragedy I just bought some today and wanted to put in a terrarium. Was yours a closed terrarium and if you still have it how are they doing nowadays. Thanks
I have the "Pink Angel" variety and after watching this video a few times & following your care tips- she's happy & healthy & growing!! Thanks for another great specific plant care tip video. I find these videos so useful Hannah! You're just awesome!! ♡
I had tried to care for some of the pink and red variety of fittonia and did terribly. Three months ago, my friend gifted me with a white fittonia variation and I've managed to keep it alive and healthy!! Hoping that your care and propagation videos help me to keep it alive for much longer!
I've got 2 fittonias and they are doing well. I keep mine in medium light and water when they just start to droop. I don't mist mine though but I've never had problems with brown crispy leave. Thanks for the tips just in case I start to run into issues
Thank u so much for sharing ur tips. I purchased one a couple weeks ago and I thought something was wrong when it was dry within 2 days. They are so pretty and it does grow fast. I will be doing videos on my plants as I get them on a routine.
Thank you for your tip, i have only one Fittonia and it is great so far, anyway it is good to know this plant does not like to much sun because i have very sunny rooms so i will keet it away from the window. Always a pleasure to watch your wonderful videos.
I just treated myself today to 3 fittonia they are all different colours, I thought I had better watch your video so that I know how to care for them, hopefully they will look as healthy as yours do, wish me luck 🤞
Thanks for the tips! I have a small, green and white Fittonia which has been going a little crispy around the edges, so I will try to increase its humidity. Thanks 😊🌱
Good luck, mine is struggling :(. It has crispy dry leaves. It was under a full spectrum LED light after I brought it in from the porch, where it was too cold. Started spraying it with water daily yesterday. Apparently it's meant to be a low light plant but she says otherwise. I moved it away from the LED because it didn't seem to be thriving under it.
Just got 6 pots of fittonia today. I hope I can keep them as vibrant as yours. I am keeping them on the kitchen window ceil with plenty of sunlight I live in Kenya where it will be pretty warm through the year
Your's look happy and healthy. I have 2 Fittonias that are both doing well. I think everyone that has houseplants should have a Fittonia. They remind me to check to see if my plants need water. The poor things look so sad when they need water that I don't procrastinate and water them right away then check my other plants :)
Thank you for this educational video on fittonias! If I want my fittonia to grow larger should I switch it to a larger pot? Also how often should I fertilize?
I fertilise once a month during summer. Some varieties of Fittonia have smaller compact leaves that don't grow much in size so it depends which variety you have. Some of mine are getting bigger leaves... I keep them in bright light. I wouldn't re-pot unless it needs it.
Really very beautiful little plants. They looks healthy so I think you have considered all their needs. I have heard your conure / green chin conure???. Will be nice to see you and your birds in a next video:-) Have a nice Sunday afternoon:)
My mom has one that is always just one step away from dying and I just managed to propagate a piece of it (in case is does die) and now I am trying to learn how to keep the new one I just planted alive and maybe revive the one my mom ownes. So I really hope this works😊
Querida amiga, mis más sinceras felicitaciones por todas tus hermosas plantas, se ve la dedicacion, el amor, tiempo y muchas otras cosas para que siempre estén tan bien cuidadas, sanas y frondosas.
First time watching. Great info on fittonias. I have 2.one green and one pink. I've been taking care without tips but my bíggest problem is under watering and not quite the right soil mix. And of course wrong lighting. As soon as I'm done writing I'll fix everything. Sometime in the future. They don't look bad but could be in a much better. Here I go so bye for now. I just thought I would send a pic of what they are what they are like now. I've had them fór abort 3 to 4 mths. Still in their nursery pots.
I have a red and green one I got a few months ago and I've been dealing with some crispy leaves. I keep him on my island which is in the middle of my kitchen so I don't think he gets all that much light. But he does seem to be doing a little better once I started misting him a few times a week.
Great fittonia you have. I too got the green one recently, but i have been observing some of its leaves are developing small holes in it before they completely dry off and die. Just want to know whether it is a natural phenomenon or what kind of care it needs otherwise? Thank you in advance.
I have my fittonia in a terrarium and they are producing air roots.Because of this I have started taking clippings and producing new plants. I do find it a little unusual though.
You can cut the stems and put back into soil, just leave one or two nodes on the stem, or I think water would be fine. I use baby bio fertiliser once a month in summer :)
Very informative video! May I know the soil mix ratio? I have a fittonia in rich black soil. It hardly grows and new leaves be turning brown/wilting. So no new leaf growth at all😢 I've already killed 2 due to overwatering and I don't wanna lose the last one I have😭

in my first house in Thailand I put some Fittonias on a pebbled pathway in the ground and within days they turned to mush, so though yours do beautifully on your sunny/light window, my advice is never put them in full sunlight when it's particularly hot (85 to 100+ degrees) like here. They literally melted. One complaint about your video, couldn't you have given Marv and Monster walk/fly on cameo(s)?
Great video! I just bought a fittonia and she has long roots curling outside the bottom of the nursery pot. Should I repot it with those long roots or trim them off? Thanks.
I show how I mist my calathea orbifolia in one of my videos, think it's the 'How to keep your plants happy over winter' one. I use a very fine mist rather than a spray so it doesn't soak the surfaces, or sometimes I will take the plant to the bath or sink and mist it there :-)

Norman Smit Hi! ❄️🌿 Yes they can be pinched back, you can trim the stems and replant them back into the pot, just make sure there’s a couple of nodes on the stem and they should start growing roots 1-2 weeks 😊🌿
I don't have any Fittonia's at the moment but am definitely going to get some. Can you tell me please- How easy are they to get cuttings from and would you put a cutting in water until it rooted or do you need to divide a plant and make sure to get a piece that is already rooted? I like to get plants that will be able to give me more plants!
Apparently they are really easy to root if you just stick them back in soil rather than water (make sure there are at least one or two nodes) but seeing as they love water so much I'm sure you can root them in water! I haven't tried yet
@@rashasuliman9361 Hi. What you do is whenever you want to trim the plant ( trimming makes any plant healthier) use the cuttings and put them in a glass of water with not much Sun. Can you bounce back from crinkly dry leaves? I literally just got my plant and watered it once and was afraid the crinkly leaves meant I overwatered them. But the plant seemed to respond a little better to some misting. I think I'm going to bottom water from now on
I don't think they are particularly fast growers, if they get leggy you can cut them stem and replant into the soil (make sure there are a few nodes on the stem) :)
My pink fittonia leaves looks like they are dull , dry and fried .. How to make it better? Also, the bottom and side of the pot (terracotta) has some white fungus growing so I recently treated it with a mix of 1 cup water + 1 tsp of hydrogen peroxide. My white fittonia looks like yours but my red fittonia came to me with tiny crispy leaves. Is this just a different variety or is there something I can do to improve things?
Spray the plant a few times a week, I water the soil enough to be damp and let it dry out for a day or two but all the while still misting the plant. Then once the soil dries out I water it again. I let it sit on the window sill with a sheer curtain since it seemed to dry up upon direct sun
i can’t find answers anywhere, i have one and it’s droopy but the color of the plant is still the same (it’s not crispy and their not yellow). so it’s drooping and the leaves are still green and pink. ifk what to do for her
What conditions are you keeping it in? They can droop if they are thirsty, getting too much sun/heat or sometimes if they are pot bound, or it could be bugs. Maybe check under the leaves and take a look at the roots

I can't seem to find a video that helps me my fittonia is almost dead. I bought 2 at the same time and where pretty much on the same spot and watered the same. One is thriving the other is almost completely wilted and gone. Please help.
hi, I just bought a fittonia from an online store a week ago. I noticed that the stems are turning reddish brown, is that normal? what should I do?
What about fertilizing the fittonia?
Maria Teresa Gatinao Just the same as all the other house plants… Once a month during the summer.
I have one fittonia, and it seems to have these unusual dug out tracks on the stems. Not sure what that is from
My white fittonia looks like yours but my red fittonia came to me with tiny crispy leaves. Is this just a different variety or is there something I can do to improve things?
Talya Em Yes there are lots of different varieties. Just make sure you keep the soil slightly moist and keep the humidity above 50% keep it happy :)
Do you trim the Fittonias? After a year where it seemed to thrive, mine now gets increasingly long branches and looks a bit thinner all together.
MariVaZo VaZo yes they can get a bit leggy. Just trim to promote new bushy growth 🌿
Mine, the leaves are closing instead of spread out? Thanks
Same here :( I wanna know why
My fittonia is wilting. How to save it,? leaves are dropped. And how to keep moisture should I spray water on leaves
Spray the plant a few times a week, I water the soil enough to be damp and let it dry out for a day or two but all the while still misting the plant. Then once the soil dries out I water it again. I let it sit on the window sill with a sheer curtain since it seemed to dry up upon direct sun
Bright Place? But I knew fittonias likes low light because they grow in the pluvial weather and they grow under other trees so in shadow...
Yes they can grow in lower light but the colours won’t be as bright
Hi sos... mines all shrivelled and looks like its going to die.. i placed it next to a bright window and watered plenty still no avail.. help?!
i can’t find answers anywhere, i have one and it’s droopy but the color of the plant is still the same (it’s not crispy and their not yellow). so it’s drooping and the leaves are still green and pink. ifk what to do for her
What conditions are you keeping it in? They can droop if they are thirsty, getting too much sun/heat or sometimes if they are pot bound, or it could be bugs. Maybe check under the leaves and take a look at the roots
Hello there, my Fittonia leaves are curling and are getting really stiff and then dropping, they are not turning brown or yellow ...I hope you know what I mean. I mist them every day and keep the soil moist.
