I did one similar, but instead of two rails, i just one the end rails with pool noodles over the tops. I will say, I made the mistake of being cheap and going with small wheels to save money. Wished I bought the larger ones now, but it works for what I need.
Sounds good, that kayak cart is great and worked well. I've gotten out of kayaking now and believe I gave the cart away if I remember correctly but it worked great for many years. JD
Found your video late last night. Plan onm building one today based on yours. Looks like it will work out great for me as I carry my Yak on top of my Rack on my truck. Making it about 3 to 4 ft tall will make it much much easier for me to load and unload my Yak and store all my gear etc. on it. Thanks for the Great Build you did and for the time you took to make the video.
@@JDOffline i ended up using an old stool I built that was more of a side table in size. I screwed on 2 2x4s to the top and added 3 inch casters. It’s not the most stable thing In the world but it will allow me to safely move my kayak in and out of my garage. Without your video I would of never though of this and I appreciate you and your hard work!
Awesome! Glad it helped. Let us know how it turned out. One thing I would do different is to put a little more space between the wheels and the 2x4's for the shelf. Sometimes the locking mechanism on the wheels can hit the 2x4. Not a big deal but if I did it over I would add another inch or so to give me some more space to engage and disengage the wheel locks.
