Finally, a drive by with the factory system. Most of what I hear, on the bike, is intake, and it sounds pretty good. Stock provides good sound, while not attracting cops & annoying folks 3 miles away. ;)
It certainly doesn't sound bad with the stock exhaust. Yamaha clearly put a lot of effort into making sure it's an engaging experience for the rider. Lots of detail all over the rev range. It sounds absolutely unreal from a distance with the new exhaust, though. I was blown away when I checked my first recordings. That howl into 5th gear echoing through the trees is just something else. It's now the loudest bike I've ever owned, and I do really enjoy it, but there is some inconvenience to it. I have to be much more aware and considerate around residential areas, and good ear plugs are an absolute must.
I am sure MIVV stands by its reputation and the sound is much better in person. Maybe if I get to hear it in person someday, I might pick that over stock. It certainly looks pretty sleek though.
I noticed that you didn’t use the quick shifter going into 2nd. Is it because of a “bad experience”? Asking because it’s happened to me twice where it went into neutral and made a scary jerk and loud noise. Swore I saw a flash last time it happened (at night). PS - I’m new so forgive me if it’s a silly question
Thanks for responding! Man that thing scared the hell out of me. Both times was trying to merge with on coming traffic and had to deal with that. I can’t trust it.
@@nether6143 i agree.. i have a 600cc caffe racer with 4in2 custom exaust... its so loud, even earplugs dont help...but the sound is amazing.. hahahahhha.. love it for short trips..
@@nether6143 I use mine only if I’m giving it too it plus 7k rpm or so that pretty much goes for all gears though if I’m not giving it too it I just use clutch
You should look at hypersport steering dampner well worth the investment you can get on the gas coming out of a corner etc with so much more confidence
There's a single screw near the tail that holds it in place. You can't miss it. Just remove the screw and the threaded clip that holds it, then slide the baffle out.
@@nether6143 I like the look of this exhaust. With the Db killer in how much louder than stock compared to without was it. I think people I live with would complain with your setup as I get up early in the morning. Also how is the pipe coloring. The stock pipe turns a horrible dirty brown.

The stock exhaust has a surprisingly good note. Both sound good but I think the stock suits my taste better.

Yeah, quick-shifting from 1st to 2nd just feels clunky, so I always use the clutch. I rarely use the quick-shifter anyway.

You should absolutely be wearing earplugs with an exhaust this loud.

You don’t use your quick shifter in first?
Typically, no. 1 -> 2 quick shifts feel pretty clunky.

It's very easy to remove. One screw.
Does it need a tune or flash ?
Not necessary according to the manufacturer.

Hi I've removed the screw but the metal grill seems to be welded in place so I can't get to the baffle ??

Couldn't tell you. I used the baffle once, but it sounded terrible.
