Inertia is hands down the best in the game for me. Anyone that says he just spams the same stuff hasn’t watched enough of his routines. He does use some beats often but he has done many different beats and sounds in battles before.
Yes! I missed the loop intros so much compared to last GBB! Great analysis again, not every beatboxer is a jukebox and Inertia wouldn't do as well as he did if he didnt focus on his style/sounds so much. Alem is a fierce competitor and a really good contrast to Inertia. On a different stage on a different day this couldve gone a different way. Alem is a king of basics and Inertia is a king of Bassics
I think the part that makes Inertia so "repetetive" is his structure. He almost always starts with some vibration bass melody -> a light drop -> inward bass drop -> then he puts in this high inward bass sounds.
Agree, but his inward bass is just so good the structure doesnt even matter until everybody demanded more from him. Like having a legendary weapon at the start of a game after a while that weapon could only bring you so far until you either have to level up or get a better one.
@@AndrewChicken yeah don't get me wrong. I am actually a big fan of different bass techniques. If he puts in more variation in his beat structure and possibly puts in a couple of other sounds he might actually win the whole thing
I hope and i'm very curious about what INERTIA will change or adapt, to come back in GBB22 even stronger to be less repetitive and with even better bass drops!
He already has many different versions of his beats and bass. But i don't know why he used the same style. He could use the 2 routines that he used against napom also the new one called inward bass god.
He should focus on less power and more structure. He could do lots of things with his bass instead of the trap stuff he's already shown us. I think he could make a good drum and bass routine.
Like you mentioned D-Low, I think King Inertia doesn't necessarily have to display an explosive power battle-style since his bass covers that vibe already, whereas Alem's battle-style surrounds an explosive setup from start to finish a lot of the time without much bass.
King Inertia's momentum is unstoppable Personally, I think Alem has the potential to be higher than the top 8. The battle routines were all good, and I especially liked them enough to watch them again and again. King Inertia... Inward King was just so strong!
Would be cool to watch you try some of the harder specialist sounds in the competition and failing as you learn them live for a bit at the end of the video.
@@MrAznMatt It actually surprised me what sounds Dlow can’t do. I remember him saying that he can’t do outward polyphonic and he can’t do poh snare either.
@@pb_monkey they're not that far apart especially if you're factoring in development inertas sounds combos and timing has been improving for a while dlow would win yes but not easily as for the battling aspect im not sure who I would chose
@@Undoubtedly_warren dlow is better at battling because his versatility of sounds and styles make countering for him easy, and they're both insane at inward bass so even though inertia has better inward bass and vibration bass combos, dlow has so many other styles that he can outclass him in those aspects
Also Alem battled and Inertia just did routines. I would have liked to hear your thoughts on battle energy and how inertia won without any battle energy.
Calm swag is a kind of battle energy 🤷 the way I see it, if Alem was a machine gun, then Inertia was a blob of gelatin, absorbing all the bullets rather than being destroyed by them
Well, when alem got in his face about him spamming inward he changed the beat, and hit the rewind on him during his first routine. And when Battling he stares at Alem during his drops, almost like intimidation
Hmm... I thought Alem won it based on what I hear in the videos. Live, I'm sure Inertia was incredible through a who-knows-how-many-kilowatt sound system you can feel vibrating your eyeballs... I haven't heard Inertia live, but I have heard Tim Foust, and oh my god when he goes low on a good sound system it's like your brain melts and your hair lights on fire. I think the only complaint I have about Alem's set was the 7/8 section. He made a really big deal, calling it out (which was the right call), but I think he needed to then execute a _stunningly_ clean 7/8 groove, taking advantage of what 7/8 can do that other time signatures can't. Instead he performed a fairly messy, busy groove that mostly sounded just like his usual 4 or 8 patterns... and if you _really_ count it out, his second bar of 7/8 was a mess and closer to 8. I think that was the moment that decided it more than anything. If he'd come out and sounded like Mike Portnoy laying down an iconic 7/8 groove right then, while counting on his hand to Inertia, I think that would've clinched it for sure. Instead, that was kind of a little bit disappointing to me, and opened the door for Inertia's sheer power to win it for him. Also, he did sound a bit less clean than usual to me. Maybe Alem's energy was _too_ high on this one?
First of all, HUGE Alem fan! So dont think i hate him when i say this... What lost it for me is Alem's battle attitude in the first round and his silly counter in the second. He played up the "King/Servant" theme too much and it took away from round winning potential Tigershot has. In the second round instead of actually trying to copy Inertia with a counter, it felt more of a childish insult like when you stick your tongue out and mumble/mimic something your sibling said. I think if Alem came with the same technical hype/energy as he did in Uniteam vs. Kotcha, and suppressed some of the aggression (let your beatbox do the talking), he would have smashed it.
I wonder your thoughts on if inertia faced colaps on this round and used these same routines. The battle between Alem and Inertia felt about the same as Inertia vs Colaps but people were just used to Inertia at that point.
Colaps is SO much cleaner than Alem if you compare the 2 rounds. You can make out every sound for Colaps, and it's super intricate. Alem is a little less intricate and he is super breathy in his rounds, it just made it sound very muddy. I feel that Inertia wasn't as strong in his rounds with Colaps also.
@@Heatwave9000 I wouldn't say that at all. Just because he isn't percussively complex doesn't mean he hasn't put years of time into perfecting his sound. The level of control he has over his vocal techniques is astounding. He can juggle throat, vibration, inward and tongue bass; making it look easy. Which it really isn't. Many of this critics in the beatbox world cannot match him at his own style. If what he was doing was easy it would be justified criticism but it's not. Colaps is also repetitive if you compare him to himself. He just uses variations of all of the sounds he has mastered. I am pushing the boat out a bit with this statement, but I would say that Inertia is one of, if not the, best vocal beatboxers in the pro scene.
Great reaction and breakdown from a pro and judges perspective. 👍👏👏👏👏 Inertia is amazing and an absolute beast, but his base is only going to take him so far. He needs to display more skills and range to progress further or win the tournament IMO (To be fair I thought Helium should have beat him, 🤷♂️) Let’s see how he does later, 😉

I saw you wearing a batik shirt. if the shirt is batik. I am honored that you have worn it. respect for you for cursing batik shirts from Indonesia. Personally I prefer a battle style that is more subtle, with occasional clever jabs at the opponent, mimicking styles, and beatboxing that speaks for itself. Alem is just too much of an aggressive clown to me.
Hate to see the comments go toward a negative route by saying its trash because of repetative sounds or how did inertia come this far by only using bass. I feel like we should critique but not judge to a way that will take away from the fact that all these artists are very skilled and all have great styles for everyone to love. Im not saying that we shouldnt say our thoughts on the round and make theories about the battle like if he did this or if someone didnt do this. I just want less negative ideas toward artist because all of the artists try their best to produce the best music that they feel is great which we should appreciate.
His trap routines made me fall asleep. It was fun at the start but starts to get boring because of the lacklustre percussion techniques and repetitive beats. The inward bass carried him this far mate.
@@Heatwave9000 I mean i get what u saying about the repetition but like u don’t have to say it’s making me sleep and the inward bass carried him this far. Because I’m all everyone is producing good routines at this point and level of beatbox it’s just comes down to taste of style
