    Be honest. Did you prefer the sound of the Samson Go Mic or the Shure MV7?

      The mv7 is great quality would definitely go for it but already have the go mic a year now still haven’t tried it

      Hard to say - you had unnecessary background music playing (I have Beyerdynamic headphones).

      The MV7 definitely sounds better. I already have the Samson, so I'll stick with it for now. Though, this is at the top of the list if I decide to switch. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!

    Been using it for years as a youtuber. It's got a good quality for such a small mic and is pretty cheap compared with "better" mics that bring the same end result. Would buy it again if my current one breaks. Saves you a lot of space and gives you a good quality. I love it.

      Agreed, it's surprisingly good for what it is.

    It has built in clip detection, it has built in monitoring and it has 3 modes you can select. For such a tiny mic, it has everything you need. However please do invest in a cheap windscreen to put over it. It helps a ton.

    I've used it boom-mounted with a pop filter and the switch set to -10db for podcasting (I found it too hot to get close without padding). Honestly, I think it sounds pretty great-comparable in quality to a Blue Snowball or Yeti Nano, but way easier to bring along-and the clip lets you use all kinds of things as an ad hoc mic stand.

    this sounds really good, I could currently buy this for 20 euros but I am not really the target audience, I just sit at home and had some issues in the past when doing presentations for colleagues. Having this be a condenser mic was surprising in this price range;
    Compared to the intro on the more expensive mic, the difference is audible, the shure is better but it's very passable imo.

    The only bad thing about this is that they never bothered to refresh this with a USB C variant.
    If they did, I'd buy more than one and stock them up somewhere lol

      Right. Just the new one with the camera is USB-C. But somehow the mic in the old one sounds better to me and it's a lot more compact.

    good review. here's a complement; the mic works with Pixel7, no app or driver needed (so it's probably class compliant). As for the cable thing, you can either use the cable with a usbA to usbC adaptor or there's probably a cheap cable that's mini to usbC already.

    - I recently purchased one of these from a 2nd hand shop for less than £10 and was pleasantly surprised by how good it sounds.
    I use this on my Samsung A52s android with USB Audio Recorder Pro by Audio Evolution, the only thing missing is a windsock but I made one.
    Another one showed up in the same shop so I snapped that up as a spare but also with the possibility of superwide stereo using my older Samsung mobile.

    I bought this microphone over a year ago because of seeing really good reviews on it, and the first time I used it, and then listened back to the recording, it sounded awful and so much background noise and overall picking up my voice was terrible. I've kept it in the box since 2 weeks ago, where I decided to try it again, and again it was just awful. I'm not sure if people are using high editing software afterwards to make it sound good, but I'm quite disappointed on the wasted £65 (About $75 USD) that it costs in the UK.

      I'm using it since many years now and it's awesome. I used it for voice-overs and I even used it for gaming when the mic of my headset broke. No disturbing noise at all. Sounds almost like out of a pretty well made audiobook. And you can hear it here in the video, as in many other reviews. You have a faulty one, or you're doing something wrong.
      I also tested several other microfones. The Go Mic can compete with all of them. And for that price...second to none.

    i just got one of these, yet to use it, but it sounds just slightly softer than the sure, i expect it can be boosted and tweaked to be as good if not better than the shure, what i want to figure out is can i use it with my pixel 7 phone, cos i've tried wireless mics that were terrible but the connection problems, cables!! are what bug me - like having charging cables that won't handle data - you don't know until you've paid and plugged the thing is that you've wasted time and money, so, i guess i have to surf your channel to see if you address this....god video by the way, clear and covers everything i could think of.

      what i'm after is a decent mic to use with my phone to record acoustic guitar, (i have some stuff on my channel) finding the right cabling seems to be the biggest problem, and for me knowing what the connectors are called!

    I want to use a mic to pick up the sounds of wind and rain while (hopefully) ignoring ambient sounds like boiler exhaust fans (those small round 3-4in fans on the exterior walls of domestic UK houses). Would this mic pick up the sounds of wind and rain ok if it was placed under my eave? Small trees are as close as 10ft-15ft away.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  10 місяців тому

      That's a tough call. It is a condenser mic and pretty sensitive. The clamp also seems handy here, but it's not outdoors rated or designed. There is an internal DAC and mini USB connection. The USB protocol also supports around only 5 meter long cables, so that's limiting. And you would want to have a wind muff/deadcat for wind sound rejection. If I were to do this, I'd probably find an outdoor mic or try a lavalier mic where it's as protected from rain as possible. Their downside would be that the cable is fragile and animals could chew it easily, so you'd want to protect that, too. How far would the cable run be?

    • @SceneArtisan
      @SceneArtisan 10 місяців тому

      @@DeployJeremy Thanks for the response Jeremy. The cable run is appx 15mtrs via a repeating USB 2.0 cable laid through the loft into my other room into my PC.
      It'll manage video alone ok and sound alone ok, but if I try to do them together I get massive loud and distorted rapid warbling sound with the video, so, I think this is why I only want sound, it won't warble on its own.
      The eave is pretty deep (appx 10in) so it'll cover the mic from rain/snow etc (the existing camera has survived over 18mths there).
      The webcam's internal mic has provided sound aye ok(ish) but the 'quiet' background noise audio is white noise, (VERY cheap internal mic on the webcam) so I want to get some sweeter sound (near silence on the background and to hear the wind/rain better. That's the idea anyway. :)

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  10 місяців тому

      @@SceneArtisan since you already have the cable ran, you can certainly try it. They are only $35 or so here, UK is probably the same but in pounds. Your current camera with mic might be struggling because of the length of the cable run (3x spec). The Samson mic sounds really good for it's price and given it has a built-in DAC for USB.

    • @SceneArtisan
      @SceneArtisan 10 місяців тому

      @@DeployJeremy I have the mic in my eBay basket but I cannot, for the life of me, find a suitably sized mic sponge cover for it (as minimal wind buffer protection). I also looked at getting a dead-cat, but that's virtually impossible to find the right sized one. I'd ideally prefer a dead-cat, but if I can get a white sponge cover for it, then that'd do.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  10 місяців тому

      @@SceneArtisan I haven't tested this, but I have a feeling a handheld mic foam will work, like a Shure SM57. The foam stretches, so even if the foam is for a round mic, it will form to the square shape. It's mainly the diameter you need to worry about

    I'm not convinced. You still need an USB device (mobile phone, tablet or laptop) to use the Samson Go Mic! I think you're more flexible with an inexpensive lavalier mic that you could use with your camera or a field recorder. 😇

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Рік тому

      It depends on your use case for sure. If you are using it for streaming or online meetings, it's very solid, especially as a travel mic. Lav mics can be hit and miss on PC/Mac partly due to the low quality DACs they tend to have.
