I had an F 31R and dominated racing in Key West harbor for several years. We covered the 8.5 mile course in 27 minutes flat. A record that still stands. Phenomenal boats. Ian was a genius.
I have a 1983 Haines Hunter Tramp and I still marvel at the brilliant design. Everything was so well thought out down to the tiniest detail. My previous boat was a Quorning Dragonfly 800 mk2 which I loved and was extremely fast but the tramp is such an easy boat to own and the Haines version is so heavily built. Slow but will probably last another 35 years.
Only just heard of his passing, He started in Brisbane Australia at Sandgate I recall and launched the trailer tri 680 then the 720 aft cabin version and they were DIY but you could buy them in kit form depending on your budget RIP ian Farrier, you made a great contribution to sailing
Most fun I've ever had sailing was at the helm of an F27. Helped build a home built F28. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing Dunkerque where I used to live briefly back in the 80's. Thanks for posting!
Winter cover made from a cheap Chinese vinyl type cloth.......lightweight but due sheer size heavy enough......summer dodger&tent made of Markilux, kind off Sunbrella
Ok, sorry why RIP Ian Farrier, did he die??? Was he great?? If so thank you, I love your video.....if this is some weird modern dance fun clip I do not get it........................................the trimaran is great
fantastic video. Thanks so much for sharing.

They followed his Trailer Tri 680 and 720, I remember seeing the original Haines Tramp at the Brisbane boat show in another lifetime ago now
I have a Super Tramp and agree - no speed demon, but very well built and should last a long time.
A nice tribute to what Ian made possible with his designs.
