I love the teachings of Buddhism. I live and breath it. I can't imagine not knowing Lord Buddha's doctrines on how to live this life. I have suffered so much and if it were not for the applications of Buddha's teachings I wouldn't be so carefree and genuinely happy as I am. In the middle of chaos, I understand Law of Cause and Effect and emptiness, the Heart Sutra. Applying these teachings into my life has molded me into a confident and peaceful person. My relationship with people has changed for the better in that I see other's as I see myself, both seeking contentment and both basically empty at the same time. Its been quite a journey thus far and I am constantly being tested... sometimes I have to laugh out loud at the absurdity of how much I am tested. Just keep going forward and know that everything is okay.

Watching this even before halfway through its entirety, I already click the Like-button. But when it's about to finish, I find even more from it ---> I Love it. I shed tears when they wrote a letter to themselves, and when they graduated. This is most inspiringly humbling, yet spiritually enriching. Thank you very much for making this documentary video and sharing it to us. ❤⚘

20:56 it really amazes me, teachings of keeping the water clean even after cleaning every individuals' food bowl in a shared environment, and sharing the same water to drink.
Tough teachings and even tougher in practice.
Purifying the mind is a toughest work on this planet!

So interesting and inspiring, showing us that remembering the importance of spiritual practice, the eating of local fresh vegetarian foods and the practice of a simple lifestyle can really be the way to long-lasting change. Thanks KBS. 🌸

This should be mandatory for all world Government Officials, too many of them sit on too high a pedestal and indulgence, forgetting the reason and people who put them there.
    Just my two cents ^_^

The key ingredients were Temple Food and a Disciplined Lifestyle. What a wonderful documentary this was! Having been a therapist in a 28 day substance abuse treatment center, I can testify to the life changing modality used here! However in this case the prime mover was the Buddhist practice found in this temple! Would absolutely love to attend one of these training classes!!! I was captivated for 45 minutes!

I know I have & do think in a critical way about leaders. The thing that most causes me to rethink my critique of others is the idea to only look @ my own bowl.
Also, the whole philosophy reminds me to speak in positive ways. This is will effect those around me.

People criticize the seriousness of the practice but don't bat an eye if this was a martial arts temple despite the fact that both have common origins. This is a non coercive relationship and you go into these types of monastic boot camps knowing it's not for everyone.

The food is fascinating. The fermented tofu they showed is probably one of the only sources of vitamin B12 along with the seaweed in the pancakes. In Korea, Japan, and coastal China fermented soy and seaweed are both common foods, but now I wonder how Chinese monks at inland temples traditionally got B12.
Incidentally, there is no soul and no self in Buddhism. The description of meditation and introspection is nice, but can't be accurate.

It's like a prison. Even to the color of the garb. Also, it's really gross that the cook/monk mixes everything with her hands, could have dirty fingernails or her hands might not be the cleanest. It's especially problematic that she tastes by dipping her hand into product and then reaches back again with her saliva on her hands. If it was her own home and her own food it would be ok, but she's feeding a lot of other people. Who knows where her hands have been, and who knows what kind of diseases she might have, unknown to her, not that she would want to pollute the foods.

So the new students are forced into rigid schedules, conformity, and subjected to established rituals in order to free their minds?
    - all seated in well defined rows in the main hall
    - all needed to have their heads shaved
    - all needed to be blessed with holy water from a tree branch
    - all eat the exact same food selection, using the same number of bowls.
    - all eat at fixed hours of the day
    - all must do exactly as the supervising monk say, or else he would get angry
How are all these things different than the ego world from which they are trying to escape.
Not once did any of the monks gave a warm smile to the high anxiety ridden students. Where is the compassion?
To free the mind , one of the things to let go is the rigid scheduling we are accustomed to in the real world. Another is to drop the ego mind concept of hierarchy. And another is to drop conformity, which goes against our individuality and free will.
To have inner peace is not simply to abandon all materialistic things to shed greed. If artistic painting makes you happy, why throw away all your paint brushes and stop painting? Being happy and joyful are very powerful light energies - just look how happy the whole class was when the girl started singing during "free time". Inner peace comes when you, with pure intent, believe and connect with your true self within and it then benevolently guides you through life via heightened intuition and synchronicity. You will become more humble and grateful as you transition to a more mature mindset. The harsh bumps in life no longer pull you into drama and inner turmoil, instead they become welcome lessons to gain more wisdom and maturity. Your become much calmer as you begin to understand some of the Truths in this matrix reality.
Discover and embrace your true divine magnificent self within and all other things will come to you for inner peace.
    All the best!

    • @choux7746
      @choux7746 Рік тому

It’s called training and building self-discipline. Buddhism says that all life is suffering and part of what causes our suffering is desire/attachments. Therefore they need to train themselves to let go of worldly desires/attachments by doing these practices based on buddha's teaching.
How can you teach someone to let go of worldly desire if you're picky about using the same bowls? You are just being materialistic.
They shave their head is part of the ritual for monks because of celibacy.
The key point here is getting rid of attachments. And what you're proposing is far off from Buddhism. So I don't think you understand Buddhist philosophy at all. It is a form of religion.
Do you know what the ultimate goal of Buddhism is? It's to be enlightened/reach nirvana which is very difficult-hence the rigid practices. This is showing how the monks live and what you're proposing is for everyday people.
Also finding the authentic self doesn't equivalate to having inner peace. You can know yourself and still be miserable by greed/desires. 😂 I mean, who said being your authentic self is always good? (That is if you are just being pretentious) You can be authentic to yourself and be a murderer.

This reminded me of a cult or a POW camp. It seemed cruel and oriented toward punishing people. What does forcing people to drink dishwater have to do with finding yourself or enlightenment? I think Buddha was more into kindness and compassion than suffering and discipline. I personally would have left after one day of this BS. Did they actually PAY for this nonsense? An outstanding characteristic of cult members is that they are willing to put up with abuse because they think they need fixing. This organization selects their prey carefully and works that angle.
