a: it was released in 2006, however it was in development (and at some points, even playable to the public) in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

a: the video idea was inspired by both bill wurtz' "the history of" series, and sipover's parody of said series, however fun fact: making videos on the history of things has existed well before both of those LOL

a: the video was already a 30 minute two-part series, ofc i didn't mention a small event that happened in like 2014 that wasn't important. however, there were a few genuinely important things i left out, like the deletion of brick bronze and more
*corrections*
- erik & david left interactive physics in 2002, and goblocks wasnt started until after that
- the play counts displayed for 2004-05 minigames are unconfirmed, and may be completely wrong.
- the small humanoid design showed near the end of 2005 was not made by mike rayhawk, but it is still what they ended up choosing instead of mike rayhawk's design concepts.
- the model shown made by erik.cassel was not the first model, but all of his models were uploaded around the same time.
- roblox was marked as ""released"" on the 1st of september 2006, but was playable before that and was intentionally released without a lot of features to get feedback on them later.
- i accidentally said around 13:29 that sword fight on the heights was made by miked. this was because i copied and pasted the text box but forgot to change the creator. fun fact: it was not made by miked
- t-shirts were only tested in january, not fully released. they were fully released in march of 2007
something pretty cool: The image at 5:25 showcases Shedletsky's secret turbo graphics feature, which was only available by changing certain hexadecimal values in the executable file. (he was probably gaming on 8 fps whilst taking those photos)
speaking of which, almost every account from 2006 and up is now terminated (unknown reasons) and so was kit403 :(

another correction: by january 2007, tshirts were only being tested by a select few contest winners and other important players (jacobxxduel, telamon, mrdoombringer, rocks25, koopa, miked, some other people from the homestead furniture contest, etc)
the full release of tshirts occured on march 8, 2007

i remember when my friend started playing roblox when it first started. it was late 2006, maybe early 2007. he said that every time he got online, someone would join him so he wasn’t lonely, but it was obvious that it was one of the workers.
i also remember hearing that they were going to hire a high school student to play roblox during the summer as a job, so that when a player came online, they’d have someone to play with. good times… now roblox can’t get their moderation straight.
The fact that Roblox workers joined kids so they wouldn’t feel lonely is so nice :D

In January 15th 2010 roblox started the hats for Haiti event, where you would buy a specific hat for 15 robux, and the total amount of money roblox would earn from that hat would be donated to the cause to help rebuild Haiti. Personally I think this was the best event roblox has ever done.

Dang Roblox... started around 2007-2008, I'm now 25. I loved every moment of those early game interactions with friends and randoms, doing events, meeting Telamon and a couple other devs and totally flipping out, eventually working my way to a valkyrie hat(I even remember Double Hat Glitching). Man that was so fun learning how to script, unfortunately, I fell to the dark side around 13 years old and was banned for hacking. R.i.p was so sad I never played again, ign -Kgon

just finished the video, wanted to say the editing and visuals were amazing and i really liked all the jokes, i thought they were really funny :D this was also really nostalgic because i started playing in 2012 and i remember playing survive the disaster, epic mining 2, and sword fight on the heights and this video brought back a lot of memories i didn't know i had

Old roblox: platform with a bad gameplay and graphics, having no anti-exploit system so exploiters could destroy ur game, better community but still having oders, copy pastas and toxic ppl
New roblox: platform with a much better gameplay and good graphics, improved anti-exploit system but bad moderation, bad community which contains a lot of stupid kids, but platform that owns very cool game developing studio which can be easy to used for even ppl with no skills at coding or building

On the bright side, I've noticed that sometimes in smaller games close communities can emerge, a good sign you have a good community in a game is if you join the discord and there is a very disproportionate amount of staff members talking in general just like everyone else
Crazy to think Lando started off with a Hide and Seek game and went on to make games like PBB/LL
And also mega servers, where now you can have more than 100 players in a server
You still can have mega servers 100 players is able to be done in Roblox and still is.

I got my start in Roblox around 2009-2010, during its "golden years". I was around 10 years old at the time. I mainly played the obstacle courses, or "obbys", as I was a major platforming nut at the time, playing things like Sonic and Mario. I also remember the cart rides, and the escape rooms, or something like that. I haven't really been on Roblox that much in recent years. I have an account but I'm usually busy with work and life that I don't have time to go on. I think I remember back then around 2010 that I didn't even have an actual account, I was just a guest user, which I don't even think they have those anymore.
I dug through Roblox’s files you can still find the textures for the stamper tool that was used in the personal servers
