- Gravely Claims that the Pro-QXT can run a finish mower, Brush hog, snow blower, power broom & Leveling blade. For 8 months I tested this out in heavy snow, thick brush and more. A local snowplowing company has bought over 125 of these in the last 10 years and I wanted to find out why. I used it to clear heavy brush, blow both snow and Woodchips, level soil, power broom off dirt and snow, and finish mow a lawn. I found major thing to take into consideration.

"I'm too stubborn to not wear it" 🤣 I'm the same way!! But I would then quickly turn it into a garage rag, that is after I wore it for a garage shirt.
I love it Stan!!
Lol, thanks Mark!
Been using a Gravely L1 since 1960.. Fantastic machines!
Just so you know, Gravely did all that back in the late 1950's and early '60's. Snow blower, bush-hog, snow plow, rotary garden plow, tine cultivator, debris/snow brush, sickle bar mower, reel mower, circular saw that could be used vertical and horizontal, and more all on a single cylinder flat-head pull start 6HP engine. In the mid '60's a riding sulky and a battery start option were added, as well as dual wheels and wheel weights and chains for more traction.
I loved the old gravely dad had, tiller, broom, blade, mower, brush hog, and the tow behind seat.
I used a gravely in the 60's and 70's to plow, cultivate mow, blow snow, brush hog. It was a dangerous machine, but it could do a lot of stuff!
1. As for the shirt, I'm proud of you. You're not making a fashion statement; you're being FRUGAL.
2. You can NEVER have "too much power. Just learn how to control it.
3. You still need an air ride sulky. I don't know if Gravely makes it or if it was a DIY but riding is usually better than walking.
I’ve had sulky’s break so many operators ankles that we ditched all our hydrostatic walk behinds for standers if we want ride on, and leave our walk behinds walked behind. Since the commercial 30” release though we haven’t bought any more walk behind hydrostatic machines since they are in the same price range of standers and way slower.
Just seeing this! It makes good sense to pick up one of these, in addition to a snow blower as well. Definitely, the Gravely, fit commercial and residential, depending on lot size. Thanks for sharing this video!
You're welcome and thanks for the comments!
"I spent $0.15 on it, I gotta get some use out of it."
That shirt is too much of an eyesore for me not to comment.
It snowblows woodchips like nothing, but how well can it snowblow that shirt???
The original ones were powerful too. I spent my youth watching my father being drug back and forth across the yard behind a ‘48.
Its good to see at least ONE friggen company can still build obnoxiously over powered beastly machines.
That’s an ancient design, Gravely really used to overbuild their equipment.
I have a 1000 hours using a Gravely when I was around 18-19 years old, Im 56 now. They were and are the best machine I ever used coming from a construction background. When I did landscaping using the gravely I was on one from 6am to 8pm 5 days a week all season long. I cut grass on steep incline running side to side with the gravely power unit sliding sideways down hill so I pointed it uphill to stay at the same elevation on the hillside. The traction and power were amazing no other mower could have rode on those hill side inclines. My Gravely had a trailer seat attachment, do the newer ones still have that available?
Glad to see I’m not the only one to use a snowblower on loose material other than snow. I used one this summer to load rocky top soil into wheel barrows after running the tiller over it. It would have worked better if we didn’t have such rocky soil, but it still beat shoveling. Isn’t that really the purpose of a snowblower anyway?
That thing is awesome. I have Ariens original Trac Team line which runs on the 10000 series from the 60's-70's. I have the 24 and 32 wide snowblower and the 26 inch rotary mower and it cuts and blows snow fantastic, but I paid maybe $100 bucks for the stuff and its 50 years old still going strong with a new engine. But this new attachment line that Ariens built under the Gravely name is insane. I'm tempted to get it for the snowblower alone, but I saw its a very expensive machine, but could be worth it if I do enough snow removal in the winter. For now, still running the old 10000 series. That QXT is really cool.
"More power!" - Tim the Toolman.
I love this machine just a few things tires that are easy on grass to not mess up the yard but also aggressive enough to not spin when brushhogging
I heard all but good things in this video so I don't see any bad things. So this thing is the real deal. When you put on the lower attachment can you get a pull dolly to hook up to it?
I’ve use the older gravely walk behind multi tool and it is amazing and these machines are from the 60s and 70s
My Grandfather has one he let me mow with, it's super easy to run! Especially if you compare it to a 1,990s Walk behind with belt drive!
Thanks for the input and thanks for watching
Reminds me of my 69 model gravely model L. It's a 7.6 HP engine but it is an ox. Cuts brush over my head with relative ease.
I think if it's got enough power for a brush cutter, it'd run a good size chipper/shredder. That's one implement that would make it a good seller to compete against the Troy Bilt Flex if by some odd chance a homeowner wanted one. The Flex doesn't have a brush cutter, but has a snow blower, dethatcher, aerator and mower. It's also got twice the power compared to the Flex.
Stan... can you help steer with the rear wheels by pulling a hand lever left or right? Also general price range for unit, and various attachments?
Finally a gravely on your channel
Does it have steering brakes? That is quite the machine. We have an old gravely L8. That thing is a tank.
The old gravelys used to do the same thing.
I was thinking it's just a knock off of an old Gravely 2 wheeled tractor. The old ones had more attachments.
Matt Dun yeah except they were a lot more stout hitting one of those trees wouldn’t shut the old convertible gravely down. With the old cast iron Kohler that was a hell of a set up! My grandfather still has 2 that was built in the 60’s and 2 that was built in the late 40’s that still run great
I had two of them had a rotary plow it would tear up the ground if you wanted to clear out ditches one trip down you were done
Rogers’ Lawn Care yeah and they cost a LOT less than the new ones I picked my first one up for free and all it needed was a battery, it fired right up after sitting for 8 years that would never happen with one of these new ones.
They did a lot more with 7.5 hp. Gravely Engine. From Chainsaw attachment to Snowplows and blowers.
The Pro-QXT is a good machine but I wonder if it can keep up with the Gravely model 5250, 5240, 5200 as they are twenty years old or older and still going strong. It's a shame that Arens Corp decided to get rid of a great machine. The old Gravely machines had about fifty attachments that it could use and is just as dependable as the newer Pro-QXT machine.Ask any oldtimer about the Gravely and how dependable they are or were as the case may be.
My 70 year old dad grew up with a gravely. They still do the same tasks. Now all you need is a sulky.
I would pick up a gravely zero turn to try out. I have a pro turn 472. It’s an absolute beast.
If someone reading this wants to try putting a reel mower blade on a snow blower and mow grass with it, it would bring me so much joy to see a snow blower throw grass everywhere.
Check out the BCS walk behind tractor, over 50 attachements ! Ok more towards the small farm, but I'd like to see your take on it.
Just looked at this year's pricing circular and the main unit appears to be considerably lower...$5800. A 48" mower attachment will set you back $1900 and just under $1700 for the 36". The blade is just under $600. The 44" brush is $2300. Almost $1400 for the snow blowing attachment. Just under $1200 for the 32" brush mower. All together about $12,900 for everything Stan had going on. Not sure if these units qualify for fleet pricing or other Gravely promos.
It seems a bit under powered though for some tasks as it only has a 14hp Subaru engine. The main unit with the 48" mower prices out at $7700. Their Pro-Walk 48" walk behind with a 18.5hp Kawasaki is just over $6300. I guess it's the price you pay for a jack of all trades unit.
Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching
Price should’ve been a part of the video.
Ventrac is the only tractor you will ever need. It mows, blows snow, brush hogs, scoops, plows and grinds stumps along with 20 plus other jobs better than any stand alone machine designated for one specific job. This is a pretty cool walk behind machine though
State of Kansas pricing is $4855 for the tractor alone. The brush attachment is $1946, the snowblower attachment is $1067.00, the 48" mower is $1481.00. I would assume non state pricing from a dealer would be, with discounts, 20%+ higher on the tractor and probably more on the attachments without taxes. You can buy a used F-250 with plow for the same $$ and be warm when you plow. Plus you can use the truck for other things.
You gonna mow grass and bush hog with an F-250??
cheap tractor with bush hogs all over the place.
That shirt screams give me my hippy back
Hey did you ever heard about JCB 1CXT. On paper that looks like an amazing maschine. You can have a backhoe loader with a size of a skidsteer. It seems like a nice idea but I can't find any to rent and check it out and there are realy no good reviews
How is the plow attachment not digging into the dirt? Are you maintaining the elevation or does the machine do it?
I have a Gravely ZTHD zero turn 60. I love it. But what does a unit like this cost and implements?
Hi Stanley. Thank for the videos! Could you do a long gravel road or gravel garden? Stating the pros and cons and info on drainage next to small cabins please? Thank you. Oh and the shirt isn't even noticeable.
Thank you for watching and I will keep the suggestion in mind!
Now that's the Gravely that started it all; the multitool! I wonder if they will produce a rotary plow, or a tiller, etc. Ala BCS
Congrats man you found an easier way to spread mulch when you dont have a loader
I have a DR Field and Brush mower with the blower, finish mower, and brush deck. Awesome machine but the tires on the Graverly should be different. Only thing I wish is they had a two stage blower over the single stage. Mine is 15hp and the Graverly is 14 too. Although the DR is for homeowners and the Graverly for contractors I think.
Can the DR Pro brush cutters cut grass and wood chip? I'm curious with the wood hipper. Nice video,
How does this one compare to the BCS tractors? They also come with a lot of attachments.
We have an old gravely super convertible model l. Same thing with all the different attachments just way more dangerous to use. Thing is a beast cool vintage check it out..
Check out the snowrator. Its nice.
Looks cool. Dethatcher and aerator also on their website.
Hey Stanley seems like a great machine. I haven't used the Gravely in about 40 years do they make Ag tires for that it would seem an agricultural Tire would be a lot better pushing snow and being uses brush hog
Nice video Stan! Would LOVE to see a comparison with the Toro grandstand as I am a toro lover(also work at a dealer and run toro in my lawn business). Keep em coming!
The grandstand multiforce that is
Thanks Kellen , glad you liked the video
Hi Stanley!! I was thinking about buying this machine with the 36 inch finish mower and also the snowblower.I have a small lawn does the mower turn tight. If you need to.Is it awkard at all.Thankyou for your time!!
I would put some smaller al1 ag tires on it for the bush hog
If I remember correctly, the Gravely we had when I was a kid had dual wheels.
Karl Armbrust yep you remember correctly. I still have mine.
How does the Gravely compare to the Toro MultiForce Grandstand? I believe with the Toro, you can stand on it. Does the power, reliability, part change out, and such compare about the same?
This seems like a remake of the old gravely which I still prefer simply because it has more attachments. And the build quality I so good. The one I have is about 30 something years old and it's still going can you say that about that machine in 30 years?
Now do the Troy bilt flex. The homeowner version of this big daddy. Tell me if it’s any good please.
I think it's a great piece of equipment but what is cost and the competitors
What do you think of the bobcat toolcat for landscaping and snow removal
Great work Stan!
So how does this compare to a grillo or BCS 2 wheel tractor? They look like they have more attachments?
Could you put a sulky on it. Would it recommended. Pretty cool
Nice took. To pricy for me. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for viewing, Shane
Take the front wheel off the mower deck when you are cutting brush. It looks top heavy and heavy in general.
You should put a link to this unit
Do they offer different size mower attachments for that I see you have a 36 inch cut do they offer a 48 cut mower attachment as well do you know the price also thanks. Hope you do a video at the GIE
They need to make a tracked version!
something you didnt mention but i really like is that adjustable handlebar. looks like it even folds away for storage and trailering. very handy in cramped sheds/trailers and makes it fit the operator better resulting in less fatigue. seeing the brush you were handling, i may have to invest in one next year.
How you like the Toro dingo?
Off to buy one tomorrow's
I think that shirt is the prototype for those stupid affliction shirts. That price is way better. Now all you need is a Mr. T starter kit and you would nail the style.
The Shirt u should plow to the blower n blow it out then hog it up next mow down and finish it with sweep to the trash ....
But real need something for two small tight 7 spot parking lot ?? Is it this ????
Looks like that would climb a steep slope without issues, similar to the Ventrac? Any oiling concerns with steep slopes and the engine or attachments (gearbox?).
Wow that machine is amazing.
Did you rhino line the tracked skid steer aswel?
Is there a stand on version of the graverly? Handles and triggers can be a bit too fiddly
how much do they retail for and do they have a stump grinder attachement? i would see myself using it for clearing land! with more agressive tires it would be perfect
I would like to see ventrac SSV stack up, is it really that good
I think it would be nice to be able to lower the power if you dont need it, or for a new operator
Do you build patio fireplaces? Maybe throw that shirt into one if so : )
Should have paid attention in that special class in grade school.
Can you get an aftermarket bagger for the mower deck?
I like the old super convertibles better. They had attachments and variation that set the sky as the limit. Anyone else remember?
That would be great on a stand up
I hear he has the matching skirt lol
Great video as always brother thats some work horse of Machine keep up the awesome work keep wearing the shirt it looks cool
Hey Thomas , thanks, appreciate it !
Im not a fan of multi use systems, most do alot, but never any of them well. And I already run 2 gravely mowers. So i am a gravely fan. Btw, did u find the shirt at a star wars convention in woodstock? Let me know so i know where to avoid
If anyone is wondering the power unit is about 8k, mower decks are about 2500, blower is 1500, blade is 500. To buy everything is close to 15k.
@@mrdavebach i could be off some but i know my dealers were going to give me 0 deals and shipping charges on top of the msrp and then add tax. Also no parts will ever be in stock unless they cross over to something else. I wanted one bad but there is enough used equipment for each task that it seems pointless.
@@JCLawn51 I totally agree that it would be very difficult to justify.
@@mrdavebach i do think this is the best unit for sidewalks on snow removal. A true hydro drive with steering. My thought was to put a sulky behind it and push the snow off sidewalks. It would be cool if they made a spreader attachment or make a drop spreader or spray unit so you can clear snow and put ice melt down.
Great idea for a machine. Never heard a price range so I'm gonna half to go Google me some sticker shock.
What about that brush cutter in tall grass?
does it have individual wheel control for turning
Wow that Gravely's a beast! Do they make a tracked model?
...6300 ain't bad for a machine that has those many attachments and as far as I can tell the motor has great power. living in the city I could use those snow attached parts, yep make my neighbors turn green...
Have you tried out a Toro multi force?
Reminds me of a upgraded David Bradley..... if anybody knows what a David Bradley looks like.
Just what I was thinking! I have a pile of David Bradley's.
this would be great on cleanups one mower the big question is how much money
Looks heavy, I would want wider turf tires if using the finish mower, and a much wider deck since 36 isn’t enough over a 32 to justify that little deck attachment
Man Stan do I love the shirt. Love it
How is the cut quality on the finish mowers?
I think the Ventrac would do a better job, with many more attachments and a whole lot less operator fatigue.
love it machine had old one like this one
What part of the Twin Cities are you in? I’d understand if you don’t want to answer that one. I did some mowing in Stillwater years ago but I also deliver pizza. I was tired of no spare time plus I wasn’t feeling good and finally was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease in 2013. I wonder how many lawn service people have gotten Lyme?
At 2:31 is where i would have different type of tires on the machine better traction
you saying that machine is over powered cus ive looked it up and it only has like 15-18hp guess its just geared right
