✨ How do you prepare for winter where you live? What do you think about these habits? 😊 Here are our 10 habits: 1. Changing to winter tires (it's the law) 2. Vitamin D 3. Car prep 4. Staying healthy 5. Clothes 6. Firewood 7. Home prep 8. Reflective gear 9. Mindset 10. Winter sports
I am from Spain. I was living in Poland for 24 years. Some of the things you showed here are very well known for me. Many thanks for sharing! Have a Happy New Year!
Very similar to Canada 😊 We have free flu and COVID shots for anyone over 6 months old ,snow tires, wool sweaters and socks, hats and mittens. Short days long night's but a brightly lit fireplace and candles, maybe a hot cup of coco make for cosy evening's 😊
From 🇨🇦 here and your list is very familiar. I lost my beloved husband in March and you gave me a good reminder to put the winter windshield fluid in and make sure the ice scraper is in my car. I got the tires dealt with in late September- the law here is from Oct 1. I got my 9 battery operated flicker candles out last week- it’s so dark now and I am enjoying the cosy warm light in the dark corners of my living/dining/kitchen room (apartment). My big tip is to stock up on heavy stuff like bags of flour, tinned soups, jars of stuff at the grocery store before the snow hits and ice forms in the parking lot. It’s hard to get the carts out over the ice to the car or pack it out in bags. Fill the pantry before it gets icy.
Thank you for sharing. I’m so sorry for your loss. ❤ Your tip about stocking up on heavy groceries before the snow and ice arrive is very smart! Thank you for the reminder. ❄❤
Another lovely video Kuro ❤️❤️❤️ yes your homes are well prepared for winter and all that preparation gets you through it. What a beautiful waterfall with those vibrant autumn trees adding so much colour. That camper van made me smile I once travelled around Europe in an orange one. It was so much fun I was a lot younger then 😂. Moomin shop I am in heaven. Tove Jansson was a talented artist. I believe her father was an excellent sculptor. Yes it’s the way you embrace the darkness and having that mentality helps you through. Who doesn’t love a snowy landscape so crisp and clean. I love the way you always light candles when eating so cosy in the winter. Have a lovely time abroad with your friends ☺️
Thank you so much! ❤ It sounds like you've had some amazing adventures! Traveling around Europe in an orange camper van sounds like such fun! Wishing you a wonderful day 😊
@@calmnordic yes it was very interesting it’s good to visit other countries. To learn about their cultures. We met some amazing people. Wishing you also a lovely 😻 day 😊
What a beautiful country you live in. I would like to say thank you for your past videos , they have helped me downsize and to declutter. One preparation I do every autumn is to check my food cupboards and freezer to make sure I have enough of the essentials items . Also I always make sure that my heating is serviced properly. Plus also to make sure I got enough non food essentials. And I do try and get out every day at the moment it’s mild for October and damp , but today we have got a beautiful sunny day .
From United States…..I live in New England…..one day sunny and reasonably comfortable….next day a huge snowstorm…then that afternoon back to comfy and sunny…So my point is you really can’t prepare…lol….we are just ready for anything….We can have all four seasons in one week…🤪🤪🤪🤪
My part of 🇨🇦 is very similar (flu shots, winter tires [not mandatory but encouraged], change of type of clothing in the wardrobe, winter sports, vitamin D). Still not my favourite season (much prefer spring and autumn) but better to adapt and find enjoyment where one can than sitting at home and feeling miserable!☃️
As the other Canadians have noted my part of Canada is much the same, without snow tires being mandatory but encouraged. I love winter but we don't get it much anymore and every year we have less snow which I miss so much. Cats are always the best at adapting to the changing seasons. My cats love to lie on heat pads so I have to ensure the pads are tucked under blankets so the cats don't get burnt. Otherwise I just have little tea lights and drape Christmas tree lights around the house to give a little sparkle to evenings. And yes, I always ensure that basic provisions are in the house in case we do get stuck inside for a few days. Thank you for sharing!
I found this channel this evening. I love Finland and Finnish life, even if the weather is cold in wintertime. I live in Italy but I hate the hot summers. thank you for sharing this video.
How do I prepare for winter..crumpets and plenty of 🧈 ..hot water bottles with woolly jumpers (prevents burn marks against the skin) and stock up on de icer..Thank you for sharing your video..very stylish looking. 🇬🇧👍
I love the winter months - mainly because of the fashions. People have to think more carefully about what they wear, rather than slop around in shorts, flip-flops and t-shirts in the warmer weather. In the UK, leaves on the train tracks or snow on the roads usually brings everything to a grinding halt. We never seem prepared for anything and we get the same sort of weather every winter, so there really is no excuse. The infrastructure in Finland seems so ready to tackle anything that comes its way.
True, winter fashion is wonderful! 😊 We have lots of snow plows working constantly to keep the roads clear during heavy snowfalls. The airports also stay open no matter the weather ❄️✈️
I loved this video. I struggle with the short, dark days in the northern USA, so it was very inspiring. Kuro is not worried about the winter. He knows he’s safe and taken care of which is partly why I love you so much!
Another beautiful video. I always feel at peace when watching them. Hopefully one day I can visit the Nordic countries and experience the culture. Where I live we are currently going into summer.
Living in Canada we share the same winter preparation as my winters can go down to -45c. Winter tires are not mandatory though, although I wish they were as I think they truly help with the ice and snow!
Similar in the UK. I have just had my flu jab - free to over 50s and vulnerable. We are advised to take vitamin D supplements but it’s not in our milk I don’t think and some people use light lamps for seasonal depression. It gets dark here about 4pm in the depth of winter. We don’t have winter tyres on our cars though as we don’t get enough snow to warrant it but all cars carry scrapers and de-icers in their cars and some have antifreeze to stop our water freezing. We had our boiler serviced recently for the winter. We also had our Covid top up jabs ready for winter. So very similar.

Hello. I just discovered your channel and i love it. i'm watching you from Portugal. Our winters are very very different. Not so cold but with a lot of rain. We don't prepare quite much, i'm afraid. We love summer and sun. We are privileged with such good weather. However i'm so in love with Nordic Countries. Their culture and habits fascinate me.I really would like to visit one day. Who knows?? Thank you for showing me a bit of Finland. I've recently read two books about Sisu and Finland. One is from Joanna Nylund and the other from Katie Pantzar. Now i will try to find here Fumio Sasaki. I got curious. I'm trying to learn more about minimalism. Wishing you a wonderful day.
Thank you so much for your lovely message! 😊 I visited Portugal once (Lisbon), and it's such a beautiful city! Fumio Sasaki's book is a great read, I really enjoyed it! Wishing you a wonderful day as well
Thank you for your videos and sharing about your culture in such a relaxing and enjoyable way! I noticed what looks like an essential oil diffuser in your room. I'm sorry if you already know this and I promise I'm not trying to be annoying, just wanted to make sure you have looked into diffusing essential oils around cats. It's a controversial issue, and there are different opinions, but some feel it's very unsafe to diffuse essential oils (or use them in any way) around cats. I tend to trust veterinarians who work with essential oils and animals and simply choose those oils that are considered safe and avoid the rest. We have 6 tails here! Definitely not minimalists 😄but that's what happens when one volunteers with a cat rescue. Your baby is absolutely adorable! Looking forward to more of your calming videos and learning more about Nordic culture.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! ❤️ We use just water steam, no oils. During cold weather and winter, the room air gets dry, so lots of people use water steam ❤️👍
@@calmnordic What a great idea! I live in Phoenix, AZ where it's incredibly dry. I've never thought of running my diffuser just to add moisture to the air. Ideally, we could probably use a humidifier but my husband prefers dry air. So I can just let my diffuser run without oils in the cat room where I do my reading, relaxing and meditation. Thank you! Just learned something new! ❤
