  • In this video, I am removing a chandelier light fixture to paint the ceiling. Usually, a light fixture bracket attaches to the ceiling box. Unfortunately, someone mounted the ceiling box lower than the ceiling sheetrock. Therefore the chandeliers base plate was caulked to the ceiling. I started by cutting the caulk to prevent ceiling damage. Then I loosened the lock nut to free the base from the ceiling mount. Afterward, I disconnected the electric wires. Finally, I disconnected the light fixture from the ceiling box.

If you run into outlets & switches that have been painted over for years........ I cut them with a knife otherwise it pulls the drywall and in some homes the plaster out with it. Thank you for sharing !

I had the caulk tear the sheetrock when trying to remove the caulk. I'm learning how to spackle. I went to scrap a nail pop and most the wall peeled off
