I definitely feel you... getting rejected can stick with a person for a long while. I'm sorry to hear about Cambridge. I hope you've got some nice alternatives to look to? Good luck :-) Raj

@@UCLCareersTV Not really, other things did not quite materialise the way I thought they would. Been working extremely hard and looks like I am going through a patch of bad luck. Hope there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I don't mind dealing with rejection, what bothered me was being ghosted on the day of interview (I didn't send my CV, the head hunter found me on LinkedIn and asked for interview). I waited for an hour for him to show up for a video conference, and received no reply when I messaged him. I prepared myself for the interview and would have done well since the job position was relevant to my degree and skills. This job position was also what I was looking for as a first job. I don't mind if I will get an explanation for my rejection, or if let's say I won't get invited to interview because my CV was too weak, I can understand that. I don't understand ghosting when at first the headhunter or company is very interested in me and goes silent all of a sudden, without any explanation at any point. He could have just written me rejection or 'this offer is no longer available', wouldn't take more than 2 minutes. It's very unfair, I didn't even get a chance to show my suitability for the company or position. I think as job seekers, we are treated as tools and nothing more. And this unfair treatment may continue once you get the job.

Dear Agata, I'm very sorry to hear about this. This is deeply unfair and I can totally understand how you are feeling. Interviews take a tremendous amount of preparation, and it's completely unprofessional and deeply discourteous to not show. I can also understand your feeling of job seekers being treated "as tools" - I think it is probably a more common feeling than we perhaps realise. Please know, however, that getting your first professional role is often the trickiest part of job seeking - it gets lots easier as you build up experience - so please don't feel as though this is permanent. There is no doubt you have been unlucky, but there's no reason to think that will continue. From my own, my friends' and colleagues' experiences, the number of jobs where you are treated well far outnumbers those where the opposite is true. I wish you all the best, Agata :-) Raj

The guitarist he is talking about is Dave Mustaine, the lead guitarist of Megadeth. I saw him live in 2012, New Delhi, India.
PS: Not a metal fan, am I.
