I went to Montreal Canada 2 weeks ago. I was in Old Montreal. I absolutely loved it. I am planning on going back in a few. Can't wait. I will visit these places when I go again.

As an anglophone that has lived my whole life in Montreal, here are some corrections: 1) Notre Dame Basilica is pronounced as Notre DAM (As in an electric dam) Basicila in English here. 2) There is no such thing as Old Town Montreal. It's called the Old Port.
Probably the main thing left out is that international tourists can really stretch out their budget. As of writing this comment, 1 USD buys 1.40$ CAD and 1 Euro buys 1.47$ so people can visit a fun friendly and safe city at a cut-rate price. Oh and for Americans, the minimum drinking age is 18, not 21

Old Town, L'Usine de Spaghetti is worth a try! The decor inside, the meals, the nice service, you should've a good 2-3 hours over there if you're hungry!
As someone living near Montreal, i abselutely hate going there, theres so much traffic, road construction everywhere and people keep honking and it tjust frustrating

I went to montreal 2019 November right before covid. My hotel has new names but it was pronounced “goovernot hotel” corner of st Catherine. McDonald’s right around corner!!! Can’t forget Canada
I grew up in Montreal and I agree Montreal’s Notre Dame is outstanding. I was so disappointed with the interior when I visited Notre Dame Paris. Montreal far far superior.
I’m a Montreal expat living in Mid-Missouri, US, and I cringe whenever I hear Montreal mispronounced. The first time I heard people pronounce the names of places like Versailles, Bonne Femme Creek, Crève Coeur, etc, and then saw the written names, I couldn’t help laughing. Missouri was part of the Louisiana Purchase, so many places have French names, but they are totally massacred by the locals! Lol FYI, they pronounce “Versailles” as “Ver-sails”.
Montrealers should be grateful to live in a place where the authorities don't let their infrastructures crumble like in many other major cities across North-America. Cones are annoying, but they mean that work is being done
I spent a total of 12 years there, you are visiting the good parts. If you live long term you know what I mean, don’t always judge a place by it’s beautiful cover.
And I still wouldn't live anywhere else. This place has heart (even though its arteries are clogged with medium fat smoked meat and cheese curds from the poutine).
That’s like the majority of places. You live somewhere long enough and you start to see the issues. However the standard of living in Canada has decreased. I still think Montreal has a pretty good quality life in comparison to other cities in Canada such as Toronto. Toronto can be fun, but it’s extremely expensive. Born and raised and I need to leave. If it wasn’t for my parents having a house I would be a goner!
Fun fact: Schwartz's was going to close down and because it's such an institution, Celine Dion bought it to save it. BTW she is a vegetarian.

St Viator Bagels. The Oratory! You can drive/park at the top of the mountain. The gay village is amazing on weekends. Fantastic museums (beaux arts).
