Sounds very raw by marillion's polished standards - great to hear, I alternate between this version and the actual misplaced in the car. I might blow the dust of my script for a jesters tear, fugazi and clutching at straws. Misplaced still the best Marillion album ever made in my humble opinion tho.
I mean don't get me wrong Hogarth does a great job but Fish offered lots more in terms of passion and lyrics and it really comes across on his solo stuff like vigil etc
What does it mean 24 bit? At that time there were no bits. Everything was analogic. I'd rather say this is a sort of pre release rough mixes with not finalized tracks, expecially on the bass on Kayleigh or the guitar solo on the same song. I can even suppose this may be a live recorded in multitrack on a radio studio... In these digital days al mastered songs for digital delivery or CD are 16 bit...
I have been looking on the forums and apparently this was originally recorded on 15 min analogue tapes so it wasn't digital at all and would explain for the very deliberate gaps in some of the tracks
Yes, because It was never released at the time it was recorded. Later on, this double CD was made and I don't remember how I had the fortune of found and purchase it by chance.
I am a massive fish-head and I remember them saying that about lords of the backstage, I personally think it sits better on the actual release version. Also the blue angel (I can hear your heart etc) is missing from the Bitter Suite movement on this version ... Sounds odd without it tbh lol
One of my favorite albums of all time.
30 Years ago,man i`m old
Love it
Wow, not what I was expecting but I couldn't stop listening. A piece of history. I hope more fans get to hear it. 10 thumbs up!
I like so much!
A new mode to listen this masterpiece.

Yes, I'm with you. I like all Marillion's work (with Fish, of course), but I have a special predilection for Misplaced Childhood.

Marillion always missed that accent from North of the border.

they used to record digitally back then already
@@V8_screw_electric_cars especially as this was recorded in Germany, who were sort of the technical pioneers of the era at the cutting edge.

Unreleased ?

Is this a beta version of the official album?
I suppose so. Just a few months ago before official release.
I thought so, since this album placed Lords of the Backstage much earlier than in the final release, like it was originally intended
