Kespa bricked Leta's pp so hard. I remember watching this Proleague in whatever 480p VODs I could find at the time and being so confused :D Thanks for covering it! And of course it was Boxer.
Nice video! Small correction: any number of p's greater than two would suffice to pause the game. So three or more p's would do the job, but two or less would lead to disqualification. Yes, Kespa was being very dumb about the rules. These rule sticklers always ruin big events with their pedantry.
That is true but fun fact about this whole shenanigan is that KeSPA also had a rule that clearly stated the players must type in 3 'p's in lower case to call time outs, basically having 2 contradicting rules simultaneously in the FM along with the rule that you have mentioned which said players must spam p to call time out. Proving KeSPA was run by bunch of idiots xD
Sick video!! Just stumbled across this video after watching some other StarCraft History UA-cam videos! I knew about the rule where they couldn't chat in game, but I didn't know the history behind it! Super interesting stuff!
There was also one game where a player misclicked. He wanted to adjust the sound volume, very early in the game, and when trying to click Options, he clicked Pause. And was disqualified. Can't remember which game exactly was - maybe a 2v2, and I think Reach was in the game.
When I think of chat DQs I remember Leta's. Yeah that was wild to watch live. My memory is nagging at me but somehow I think I remember in the aftermath of that, during the end of season friendly showmatches (where chatting was encouraged) they parodied that exact same situation, even having the referee fake ponder a decision? Kinda wanna try and find it now
@@okso I tried looking but couldn't find anything sorry, it's so hard to search up old threads on TL sometimes. It would've been one of those All-Star matches but a search on UA-cam only turned up some relay match. At least it confirmed that Leta was popular enough to get invited to those and wasn't some rogue Wraith cheeser Tastosis constantly says he is lol
@@KenNywithrice Of course he was! He was the alpha dog in Sparkyz and was one of the very few players who were paid above 100K mark per year back then. If that is not an all star level player, idk who is
damn, getting disqualified for that!?!?! I would have been furious as a fan. Where was KesPa common sense rule then huh?! the referee must have been corrupt or disliked Leta 1000% any good ref would handle that better.
The referee is actually a former pro himself: GaLBi. He was actually the winner of the first game of OSL after it became OSL. I don't blame him TBH. It's quite probable that if he bent that rule to meet common sense he could've been penalized internally. That's just the Korean work culture
Hey what do you think about the authority of KeSPA? I agree it's a stupid organization, but both you and I know that the Koreans still recognize it as the official organization of StarCraft.
@@okso but as most agree with you on that, the authority still exists (and to a degree, separate from their idiocy) Do you think their idiocy should subtract their authority?
@@masoud6920 I would think so yeah. It's not like KeSPA was some prestigious must-exist type of government association or something and I always think you need to earn respect and authority not just have them handed to you. They always showed the greedy aspect of them when it came to decision making without any consideration to what the fans would want like if you think back, why the hell would you need a license to become a pro gamer that's just straight retarded. Those type of associations do not deserve respect and authority. I'd respect hustlers in NYC tryna sell me colognes and stuff more than them cuz at least they be hustlin.

Where did you find that info? Can't find it on Namu.wiki or Liquipedia

Mong actually did that on his debut as far as I can remember.
This was super informative and fun for me to learn. Thank you for this!!!
Really good to hear that!

Wow I legit don't remember any of that. I'll see if I can find that match

@@masoud6920 No problem! New video is on the way keep your eyes peeled!
why cant terrans play like boxer did these days? they're all so boring and plain today.
*user was banned by kespa for this chat*
The scene "standardized" as of 2004. For Terran, iloveoov created the standard
Because That kind of Terran doesn't work vs God level Protosses. Protoss just puts goons in right spots and macros and then it's gg.
