    I am happy to see the area making a great come back after the winter storms. The shots of the railway and the mountain area it travels to are breathtaking. Good to see you are having some beautiful spring weather; thanks for sharing it with all of us.

      Thanks Steve, I crave some steam to capture, got the West Somerset Gala at the end of the month, and two Black 5's down the Heart of Wales in April...so hopefully the weather will be kind...Best wishes...Bob

    Bob, You are an awesome videographer and your expertise as A photographer really shows. Thanks to people like yourself I get to visit places, and see things, I otherwise won't ever get to see in my lifetime. Thanks for the close ups of the working of the Locomotive. This one went into my favorites. Walter

    Thanks, so much. I spent my childhood in Aberystwyth Apr 1974 to Feb 1979. This video brought back sweet memories of Aber and Devil's Bridge. Greetings from Bangladesh :)

    They sure got a battering in the storms , so nice to see it all returning to normal , the Rheidol Railway looks to be a nice way to spend a day with , the young man was doing a good job cleaning the connecting rods and the loco was sparkling there in the sun

      I couldn't believe my eyes Dave, when I arrived at the sea front and saw the work that had been done. A ride on the Railway is highly recommended, but always sit on the left hand side to fully enjoy the amazing views...Bob

    Hello Bob,
    It is pleasing to see that the coast has to find the calm and peaceful atmosphere. Congratulations to those who repair the damage from the storm. Beautiful locomotive "Prince of Wales" and, in addition, very well filmed as you know how. Pob hwyl.

    Excellent filming. I remember travelling there overnight (via Euston,Crewe and Shrewsbury) back in '73 and sitting on the seafront at 730 eating my liver sausage sandwiches before travelling to Devil's Bridge on the 10 o'clock. Sea front looks great now,so a return visit is high on my agenda. Many thanks for your very much appreciated prompt.

      Wonderful memories John, and thank you for your kind comments...They did a wonderful job of re-building the sea front after the terrible storms this time last year..Regards...Bob

      It's only and hour and a quarter away from home Steve, I wasn't expecting to see any steam running, so that was a bonus....those locos up there are kept in superb condition, and always a joy to see.....Aberystwyth is looking ready for the coming season..amazing work by all concerned...Best wishes...bob

    Enjoyed this Bob, excellent shots and close up detail of the Rheidol Railway / locomotive. Haven't been up here for many years and must make the effort, Aberystwyth is one of my favourite towns.

    Great video Bob, we love Aberystwyth. My Dutch wife has visited this lovely town many more times than i have and i come from Wales! The station, the pier, nothing has changed she says. Wasted no time in the restoration after the battering it took in the storms, holiday season just around the corner and back in mint condition. Regards John

    When you think of the mayhem we saw only a few weeks ago Aberystwyth has done such a wonderful job cleaning up the mess. Oh, and by the way the VofR looks beautiful. When I was a kid on my first Swindon open day one of the locos was in for overhaul. My mates and I were so chuffed to see it because we knew we'd never have the chance until we had our own cars! Lovely film. Regards, Pete.

      I know Peter, it really was difficult to take in, all the wonderful work that has been done in such a short timescale. The VOR has always been a special place, and these Swindon built locos are certainly kept in tip top condition......Regards...Bob

    Good to see the excellent repair work. Storm must have been horrendous at its height. As for the railway, absolutely charming. I remember that I parked my car at the top, had a look at the falls, then took the train train to Aberystwyth for the day. It was along time ago. I was flashing my brand new 8 mm camera everywhere! Happy days!

      @robmasterman  10 років тому

      It's a remarkable achievement in such a short time Rob, it looks as it's always done. The Railway, has always been special, with its GWR built locos, that are always kept in pristine condition....Best wishes...Bob

    Enjoyable video Bob, great to see such a fine job has been made on repairing the storm damage in such a short time. The loco suits the red livery I think.

    • @robmasterman
      @robmasterman  10 років тому

      Thanks Austin, these locos were the only steam locos to carry the BR coming and going logo. My favorite livery, was the BR lined passenger green.....At the moment you have No 9 in Red and No 8 in GWR Green....No 7 is still in bits awaiting restoration....Bob

      It's only a short walk from the station Alan, not enough time to go down the steps and show the three bridges...will try and do it next time....Bob

    Superb scenes Bob and very well videoed. I do remember visiting this railway in my trainspotting days in about 1970. Three locos Nos. 7,8 and 9 were in a shed, not sure where, in the middle of the night (we were travelling by car and must have been trespassing) in British Rail blue livery with the British Rail logo. I will try to visit this railway again, legally, sometime in the future. Regards, Jeff.

    • @robmasterman
      @robmasterman  10 років тому

      Thanks Jeff, in those days it was easy in a place like this to go on shed, these days it's privately owned, so may be not so easy...Regards....Bob

      It's amazing how a fairly sheltered bay can be hit so hard by winds off the Irish Sea Stephen, fair play the Promenade looks lovely once again after quite a short period of time.

    Superb video Bob. They have done a fantastic job on the seafront . Well done to all concern. That's a great trip up to Devils Bridge. Didn't you go down the steps to see the waterfalls close up? (C&A)

    They've certainly pulled out all the stops on that seafront. Looks in great order for the coming season. Must be 50 years since my only visit to the VoR and it looks much tidier than I remember (with the locos in BR blue and two-way arrows on the tanks) but then the memory isn't that brilliant. Chris

    • @robmasterman
      @robmasterman  10 років тому

      The railway was very run down in the sixties when you last visited Chris, it was still under BR ownership, and was neglected like most of the railway system at that time....Thanks for your comments...Bob

    Very nice job they seem to have made at Aberystwyth. Valve gear looks very complicated on those engines doesn't it.

      After the battering that sea front had during the Storms, it was an amazing sight to see such a transformation in such a short time. Those locos have had a hard working life, and the staff keep then in superb condition....Bult to last by the Great Western Railway at Swindon.....Bob
