      Very nice. I have two of them, and both record and play. One has a power zoom issue. Batteries are an issue with this camera. They can not be purchased new. I have tried and failed multiple times. So baby your battery. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching.

    Was using my last night everything good, just earlier Tape compartment wont pop out, Would you know if there's a quick fix for this? Will take a look at the manual once I get the time, Thanks!

      This is a common problem with these machines. The sensor gets dirty and can't tell if there is a tape inserted or not. Sometimes, you can force it open and then clean the sensor by blowing compressed air. If that doesn't work you have to disassemble it which is a lot of work. If a simple cleaning doesn't fix it, there is probably a more serious issue. But the majority of times, if you keep trying , it will eventually open. Let me know how it works out and good luck.

      Got mine to work again, although had to get if fixed, do i need AV to RCA cables OR DV to RCA to connect it to capture card converters (like easycap)

    • @WaybackRewind
      @WaybackRewind  4 місяці тому

      @lomokid_ I'm glad you got it working. Since this camera is already digital, it is best to avoid the RCA cables and capture card and go straight from DV to computer. I have a 7 part series, and part 7 shows the Pinnacle Studio Movie Box plus will allow you to connect that camera to any computer. It's out of production but easy to find on eBay.

    Any idea on the msrp release price on these? Also, just picked one of these up from an outdoor market in europe for $7 with 3 batteries! Works just fine!

      I don't remember the exact price but they cost about $1000 USD. I bought one at the time but it was defective and I returned it.

    Do you have links to where I can find the batteries? And do I need an adapter if I have the batteries?

    • @WaybackRewind
      @WaybackRewind  Місяць тому +1

      Unfortunately, the internal batteries for this camera are impossible to find. I was unsuccessful in finding them anywhere.

      @vanialeedrums If I understand you correctly you are referring to the, stop, rewind ect buttons? They matter a lot because that is the only way to operate it. Not sure how that part went missing?

    Hello,
    After opening the screen several times, I cut the wires inside.
    Do you have a plan of the electrical diagram, please?
    Thank you

    Kastar or Wasabi doesn't make a third party battery for these?

    • @WaybackRewind
      @WaybackRewind  Рік тому +1

      No one makes the internal battery, not that I have found. I tried three times to buy one and twice I had to cancel my order as I received nothing. The third time I got the oversized battery.

      @@WaybackRewindHey buddy! Thanks for reviewing such cameras. Could you please share if you know which MiniDV camcorders allow for digital sampling/video converting straight to USB? (Which is more practical if you're using a laptop to convert footage) Instead of Firewire?

    • @WaybackRewind
      @WaybackRewind  Рік тому

      @@eladbari The early 2000s was a great transition to digital from tape and some formats were better than others. DV was the best of the early digital formats despite being on tape. The transfers over DV were full resolution. The USB was typically not full resolution, it was designed to compete with webcams, which were very low quality back in the dial up internet days.
      I wouldn't expect there are any cameras that can transfer DV over USB but you have given me something to investigate. My favorite camera to do transfers is the Sony TRV-460 which is digital 8 which is electrically identical to Mini-DV. It's one of the few cameras with USB and Firewire, but as mentioned earlier the USB is intended for webcams, not full resolution of DV transfer. But I will give it a try and see if I can and I will do a video about it.
      Thanks for watching.

      All I'm looking for is a compact solution of a camcorder that will be able to give me the look & feel of older 90's camcorder look in a small package for travel. MiniDV always has issues with it's mechanism (I found Panasonic to be very untrustworthy compared to Sony which held up better), so I tried a super compact solution like the Sony DCR-SX33 that's very friendly with it's SD card capture + a slight higher resolution than other camcorders (720x576). Yet, it's downfalls are footage that feels sometimes muddy and breaks up + too light of a camcorder so footage comes out shaky.
      So, I'm on a quest to find a better compact solution than this camcorder and I wonder which one I should give a try for my needs. Whaddya say?
