      It was great, I am really glad that I did it, but I would recommend to choose your hosting organization very carefully, because I've also met quite a few volunteers who struggled a lot because they had a bad organisation. But all in all, I would really recommend to do an ESC :)

    Hi Lisa! maybe my comment will be out of date, but I am thinking about doing a volunteer stay in the following months and I am wondering what would happen if for some reason I had to finish my stay earlier than established. Don't know if you'll be able to respond! Thank you ^^

      Hi! As far as I know it is okay to quit earlier. My roommate actually left the volunteering projects a couple months earlier because she found a job and for her it was completely fine. I guess you would just have to communicate it. Hope this helps and enjoy volunteering :)

    Hey Lisa, I just have a couple of questions if that's OK :) First do you need a driving licence to do an ESC placement and secondly are you allowed time off for a holiday? Thanks very much!

    • @lisasknitclub
      @lisasknitclub  5 років тому +4

      Hi Conor, of course you can ask questions ;) No, I did not (and still don't) have a driving license. There might be some projects where they want you to have a driving license, and in that case it is always written in the project description. Yes you are allowed to take tme off for a holiday, you get two free days every month (and of course weekend you are free), and you can accumilate them. And also you are free on bank holidays :)

    Hi!, Do you have any advise to get accepted in a project in the European Solidarity Corps, ( like tips in the motivation letter)

    • @lisasknitclub
      @lisasknitclub  5 років тому +14

      I would say to not make your application too formal, include pictures and your hobbies and really show how motivated you are. It is not really about your work/education experience and more about who you are and how motivated you are. So that's my advice ;)

    • @lisasknitclub
      @lisasknitclub  3 роки тому +2

      Yes it's very difficult to choose the right timing. I started looking really early (I got accepted in January and went to Croatia in October), but I think especially now most projects are more last-minute. In another video on my channel about my full experience I explain it a bit further. I hope this helps you and good luck!

    Hey! Do you by chance know if you can take pets with you? I have a disabled ferret who needs my help do do basic things like peeing, which means I’d have to take him with me. I’d still have time to do all the work and such, since he only requires my help early in the morning and late at night… but I don’t know if I’d be allowed to take him😕

    • @lisasknitclub
      @lisasknitclub  3 роки тому

      Hi! I actually don’t really know the answer to this but I guess it depends on the organisation you’d want to volunteer in so you would have to ask. I did know a volunteer that had a dog that she took with her so it completely depends on the organisation and their rules and the apartment of course. Hope this helps :)

      Yes I guess that now it’s a bit more difficult to meet other people but there are still projects I think. I didn’t save a lot of money (depends on what you think is a lot), I think I saved €1500 but that is just because I wanted to travel a lot, I could perfectly have a nice life with the amount of money they gave me. I also explain this a bit more in a video about my whole experience that’s also on my channel :)
