This was the end of MSG Mark1. I saw them in Chicago after missing them in 1980 after their 1st album. Chris Glen left. Gary left. Too much partying; he lost his voice and squealed 1/2 way thru the Chitown show. Andy Nye is here but he was only on the great last LP. 4 albums 2 live albums. The video at the beginning of this tour had those e2 guys plus they propped up Gary w/Derek St. Holmes for the video Live at Hammersmith. Michael had to take a long break after this. Then he came back with a partner in MaCauley thus keeping the MSG then the MaCauley Schenker Group. This to me is a sad farewell. At the beginning they show a stadium in Japan. Whitesnake w/Cozy Powell who toured w/MSG and was on the 2nd album was w/them. The Scorpions were huge then. Mixing problems and promotion, (I have the American an British versions of Built to destroy and I made 1 tape out of the best.) kept them from being f86king huge. They had 2 love songs on BTD and Michael had been on the road since 17 and was now weeks away from 30. Yet still today weeks away from 69 is still rocking and amazing. This here is a postcard from the end of MSG Mark 1.
The singer reminds of Dirk Diggler during his coked out of his head, budding musician phase. While Schenker may sound great, this is about as faceless and boring as MSG got. A nice souvenir from a not so great time in his career.

These guitars, the rhythm and the beat, the attitude are the factors responsible for making me remain true to guitar driven hard rocking music!
This was an awesome concert! When the Schenker brothers played together for the first time in 13 years…it was amazing!!
当時高卒半年で川越の会社に勤めてた。
8月12日のに行った。車で行った。
かち割り氷いくつも買ったけど日射病になった。終演後ラーメン食ったけどヘトヘトで麺を持ち上げらんなかった。
そのまま頑張って車で新潟に帰省した。まだ前橋までしか高速なかった。
ここまではいい思い出。
帰って日航機123便が墜落した近くを通ってたことを知った。

めちゃくちゃ酷評されてましたね
突然の代役ボーカルで流石に皆が戸惑ってた気がする。マイケルは何時も通りで全然悪くないけど、
メンバーのレベルが残念な印象。
確かアンヴィルやデビュー直後のボンジョビが前座で彼らはイキのいいステージだった。ビッグな方の3組、とくにMSGと白へびは彼らにとって決して良い時期じゃなかった印象。スコーピオンズは良かったけど当時も日本ではあまり人気がなかったから少し可哀想な感じもする

凄いフェスだけど音はあんまり良くないな。スタイルカウンシルとカルチャークラブのフェスがこの後の年あったけどそれも酷い音だった。
