As a former resident of Richmond, VA, I implore all pet owners in the area to follow this call to action! I'll be reaching out to our friends in RVA to let them know. The list of animals might not affect you personally yet, but as Phil said, that list could grow! Support USARK!
I run the Central Virginia Reptile Rescue in Richmond and these bans worry me. I've alerted everyone that we work with and other rescues in the area. Keeping alert to see if any animals we rescue pop up on the list.
I live in RVA but i don't own any of those animals thankfully but definitely support anyone who is keeping them thank you so much USARK for always keeping us all up to date with such informative information and for all you guys to in helping people to keep their animals.
Shared!! Wish I could attend all the meetings out in Florida, but alas, California full-time worker here. Definitely got my support in all the other ways I can!!
I'm in Richmond Virginia and I've been in contact with the delegates in all nine districts and it seems they are changing the language to include a grandfather clause. Id like to see this changed to a permitting system which is what we have had. There is no reason for this ban honestly. Idk what sparked it
What is going ON with govt overreach these days? Everything I hear in every area, it's all bans, raids, crackdowns... I'm involved with the Kenneth Law situation and that was scary and I highly doubt what happened to me was even legal. WTF?
Stop declaring what pets you have to your city officials. Easy. And if you are ever inspected be sure to strap on an AR-15 and they’ll think twice about ANY “accidental euthanizing” !!
The best way to watch the meeting will be available at thefloridachannel.org. This will be much better than any person who is trying to stream it. That website will have the meeting both live and archived. Have a good day.
@@usark_official nevermind.. it's the 10th and 11th, somehow I was thinking it was the 11th today 😅😅 instead of losing days I'm jumping into the future 😅 thank you for the information
Thats incredibly stupid. A. Dwarf reticulated pythons exist B. Iowa is literally not a food enough climate for either species to last even a year in the wild
I don't understand why people are all of a sudden so interested in taking pets away from people. Pets that are direct links to helping people appreciate the natural world at that!
Yes, unfortunately lots of reptile laws in Canada and USA end up having negative effects on eachother. For example, the bans on African rock pythons in some states and provinces in both countries after Noah and Connor Barthe got fell on and died. I want to point out that neither child was constricted by that snake. The autopsy confirmed this, but all news sources choose not to wait for the autopsy before making their false reports. A snake literally just fell on them and it changed laws in both countries. Its absolutely terrible what happened to the Barthe boys, but people also need to get their facts straight so stuff like this doesnt happen. The snake did not intentionally kill them. It could have just as easily been any other large animal that fell through the cieling and landed on them that day. Unfortunately it was one of the most rewarding snakes in the world. Now a lot of people wrongfully assume they are mean snakes, and because of the bans, many people will never get to experience them. The truth is that they are even more rewarding to keep than burmese pythons or reticulated pythons.
... But fish in nature tend to live in groups of about 30 -50 on a regular basis, keeping only 6 fish is just not sustainable as the fish would fight for dominance and some fish breed easily so them breeding would make it hard to even abide by that.
The people writing these laws aren't knowledgeable or looking out for the citizens or animals best interest. It's all about driving their currently favorite narrative & making jobs, collecting fees. Sadly, this behavior isn't limited to only one faction of our government. I've seen drafts of proposed laws requiring impossible actions, like re-implanting a tubal pregnancy 😮 So much of our government is theater while real issues go unaddressed, we're in trouble my friend. They're coming for us after our pets.
@nicolaxoxo1 well they effectively banned non native venomous snakes for a month, then the hospitals said that was retarded and they quickly overturned that part of the law. But the part of the law that tells the cities that you keep registered animals still got passed
at 4:59 he says "" you will NOT be grandfathered "" and then at 5:08 he says "" hope there will be a grandfather close "" if you say ' you will not ' like you know there is no grandfather close why say you hope there his one !!!!
The draft does not include a grandfather clause. Because we found this and posted an alert that has drawn opposition, the City has indicated that, at minimum, they will be adding a grandfather clause. So the hope is that the City is sensible and at least adds a grandfather clause.

Thanks USARK 😀This trend is pure insanity. These state and local governments are out of control
Funny thing thinking they'll stop us who's animals aren't registered 😂 won't ever take my reptiles from me things will be done if people try
What the f@$k man....these bans are getting ridiculous (God forbid one of your pets gives birth)...thank God they stopped it....but geez
As soon as he said bee keeping, I thought “Who wants to ban bee keeping? People love bees!”
Support USARK. This is life changing information.
Usark rocks
Banning beekeeping is insanity.
Its a really bad idea too. The local bee population is simply not high enough for local agriculture to be supported

These bans just defy all logic

Ty for helping my home town!! Richmond!! As a boa keeper I dont want my animals to be included at some point.

This would have banned horses and other animals too. And it seems they are trying to ban all animal keeping here in florida
South Dakota is right now wanting to re-write, enhance or more clearly define our reptile laws. We may need your help!

It's a war on pet ownership.
I'm so angered over this ban that I'm almost in tears thats just so fawked up
crocodilians are already banned in the state of virginia. Wonder why richmond feels the need to double ban them?
They banned retics and burms here in iowa also back in 2007 I believe

Unfortunately, this is not sudden. It has been happening for more than two decades now.

Keep kicking laws animal people!
they did us dirty in texas. the tabled the bill, then attached it to a different bill to force it threw without a hearing
Not the first time it has happened. Happens even on the federal level with America Compete First Act
So what did they ban in Texas?
