The up smash for Mewtwo back in melee days had actually a suction effect like ganons up tilt. I wish they brought that back and it would make the move alot better.
I think the big problem with Mewtwo's grab is that it's an average grab by Ultimate's grab standards, and as we all know, Ultimate's grab standards are really stinkin' pitiful.
Hi I'm Alex and I'm a mewtwo optimist *"Hi Alex"* I love playing mewtwo online, and have only reached elite smash once or twice, then quickly fallen out. I need to get better at B reverse shadow balling I think, especially after watching you and Wadi. This was a super interesting video. I think I would have personally put the back air in "broken" or at least "really good" if it was a disjoint, but alas. But overall I think ultimate succeeded with the mewtwo design philosophy. I'm about to go look up your "mewtwo doesnt need a nerf video though because I would love to see a reduction in tail hitbox obviously but also I wish I could aim disable downwards to hit pancakes that plague ladder.
You forgot to go over the throws. I think they’re all good 2 are good kill options. Forward throw does good damage and down throw can take stocks early if the opponent isn’t diing right.
I disagree. When you have players like Link, Samus and Ganandorf and then you literally have to be on top of someone with Mewtwo to make a grab you realize the grab is pretty crappy. Yet, when you realize some of his throws are some of the best in damage and kill you have a completely different category. If every character had the same range in grab it would be different. Like, other characters wont wish to have his grab but many would wish to have his throws.
I think fair would be broken tier if it had a better hitbox. It's actually a pretty small hitbox though. But within M2's kit, because we can confirm into it from so many other moves, I can see it being broken tier when specifically applied to m2. I think confusion could be broken tier if we got a little more frame adv on hit at lower %s.
I find this move to be the funniest in his kit. I can't stop laughing sometimes when I win a match with it because I expect it to spike but I get the sour spot instead and my opponent goes in another direction and dies anyway just because this move is dumbly strong.
I am a core MewTwo player in SSBU. Thank you for that tremendous Tier List Move. Excellent idea. I hope to see a Tier list Move of Pokemon Trainer soon
I don't think disable is broken. Your opponent must be facing you, gotta be super close and it's usefulness wains when fighting small characters like Kirby and pika. A smart player would know how to remedy this by having his character's back side constantly facing mewtwo zoning with Back air at percents where a disable will spell death.
Disable has a lot of opportunity for setup though, which is it's main boon. It's a difficult move to rate imo-- I wouldn't call it the best of Mewtwo's kit (personally I think Teleport and Nair are better), but it's definitely really strong. Tech chasing, platform chasing, and parrying gives Mewtwo plenty of chances to land Disable safely. If it were any other move, that wouldn't be a lot, but given it's absurdly high reward of basically guaranteeing you a stock, those small openings are enough. Think about situations like mid-percent Dthrow near a plat-- anytime Mewtwo does this, you're put in a tech chase scenario and there's about a 33% chance you lose a stock to a safe move. Thats.. pretty damn good. Still, it's drawbacks that you're outlining absolutely exist, and are the reason you *need* to find those particular openings in the first place. But it's a much safer and more consistent move than things like Warlock Punch/etc, which may seem comparable at first glance (big stock taking moves with huge drawbacks).
yeah, disable is pretty broken if you dont count move doesnt function if the opponent isnt facing you move doesnt function if the opponent is airborne it has massive endlag, meaning that if you whiff it (which lets be real, is very likely, because of the two reasons i mentioned above) imo the move is just about average
I can maybe state that it's above average and mostly in the alright section. You actually can hit them with disable airborne but they would just take damage no stun effect.
I think he's factoring in the setup factor, meaning you can set up a pretty safe low risk high reward disable e.g. platform tech chase you can short hop disable and land below them or you can be an idiot like me and try to fuck with people edgeguarding with it lmao, works 1/100 but when it does...
@@seess8251 footstool combos are okayish i guess, but that doesnt fix the inherent problems that the move does have sure it has high reward... but gosh does it have way too high of a risk to reliably use in a match
The effect of the move is broken, not the execution of it. Even tho it still has 6 frames of invincibility and disable is still a projectile that can hit you airborne even without stunning you. So I would say it's more alright than average overall.
Reason I dropped him I really really wish I coulda went far with him in tourney but I gave up threw in the towel it’s literally a free match to whoever I play in tourney cuz the tail n his weight I play light weights like sora n puff but I really could not get the feel of mewtwo down for tourney play sadly I wanna see him do well but the character is still hard to get wins with in tourney like he was in melee for fun yah mewtwos a great character n u can practice n excel extremely well with him as notbae does but yah like u gotta play em pretty religiously defensively patient n kinda rush in too he’s one of the most unique characters n I think will just shred people to death fast if ur fighting against someone as good as the guy who makes the channel but for me I’m just taking sora n puff instead as my light weights cuz they don’t have Barney the dinosaur sized tails that can get u killed at 45-50% with rage haha especially when u got fighters like pyra n mythra who kill that early with like a nair n got characters like sephiroth n min min with that range uh uh nope
Again when ppl say M2 is a top tier in a low tier body this is what they mean, all his moves are pretty good but his other characteristics bring em down. For disable I think he kinda needs it because he can turn a hard punish into an even harder punish. If you compare this to other characters they can get easy KOs off jab locks or certain combos where as M2 doesnt have any real combos. Also am I the only one where every other time I Up smash they fall out of it??? Like seriously I almost never use it cause half the time they pop out of it and I just get hard punished.
@@bigtoblerone8446 I don't think he does. Correct me if I'm wrong, but no character has any real combos out of jab to begin with (except for Roy/Chrom and Puff since the last patch). And if he means out of jab locks, he would still be wrong as M2 can easily kill out of jab locks too (most commonly with Fsmash).
Ftilt is really good.. most characters are taking a big hit box that kills. most characters don't have that. I agree that mew two's fair is top 3 at least but I am taking bowsers over mewtwo, maybe mewtwo second but I would have to think
I agree that disable is overpowered. Ngl, way too many of my kills come from that move. It’s an average game if all three stocks are taken with confusion lol
@@husnainhaider3781just know this move is basically impossible to use on small characters like pikachu and smaller lol. For them it’s not worth trying to land. I’m not quite sure what habits I made that made me so good at recognizing opportunities to land it but I usually hit it every time I do choose to use it. Maybe I got here from missing a lot maybe I just got here because it was a move I was always thinking about idk. But probably just look at it as your main kill move (it shouldn’t be but it’s just too good lol). Keep in mind this move pretty consistently kills at 60% (not uncommon to kill at 50% too) so that’s a good motivator to land it
To complete the list: dash is not great, same for walk (both fast but the tail lingering is absurd) back throw alright, forward throw average, down throw really good, up throw nice to have as a kill option but still average jump alright, dj meh maybe alright idk is very slow at the beginning crouching is decent, solidly average also terrifying turbo teabag is omegabroken side taunt is really good, down is alright, up is too but the chilling laugh makes it broken free fall animation is godtier, he dont give a f*ck idle animation where he strikes a pose and flexes is alright, the one where he raises his fist is really good entering the stage animation is really good victory screen is alright I FORGOT roll is really good i like how nimble he looks ledge roll he looks like a fish, not great get up attack is kinda cool but also just a tail whip idk average spot dodge is alright, very nonchalant air dodge is really good, he disappears so it's cool best move is balancing at the ledge, absolutely broken he stares into the void and the void trembles with dread shield break animation is average, but sleeping animation is really good final smash is really good and, finally, item holding is broken that should be everything(?)
Yes, mewtwo is aesthetically top-tier 😊
Mewtwo is overall the best character in the game when taking design into account
One of the main reasons I main Mewtwo is how cool his animations are. He's just so cool all around.
This is the correct opinion.

In Smash 4 as well.
;_; up smash has more kill power than up throw so gosh i wish it really had a good scoop up hitbox on it...
And give mewtwo back up smash suction!
This move was so good in Smash 4 tho and now it's complete trash. Not even that good as an out of shield option.
9:17 ya gotta mention the starting invincibility on disable!
I Love the Idea of this
I think the big problem with Mewtwo's grab is that it's an average grab by Ultimate's grab standards, and as we all know, Ultimate's grab standards are really stinkin' pitiful.
And then you have brawls magnet hands. And meta knight
Mmm sora would like to detest that
It's really below average actually, range wise and frame data wise.

Up throw kills at like 80 on platforms and like 100 from stage (+/- for DI ofc)
I live for this kind of content
I don't think you can separate a grab from the throws. No one grabs just to hold the opponent (unless they're feeling uncommonly affectionate).
I disagree. When you have players like Link, Samus and Ganandorf and then you literally have to be on top of someone with Mewtwo to make a grab you realize the grab is pretty crappy. True. Most people don’t but some do. I think the range on it should be nerfed a little, it’s kinda crazy far some times.
Disable has a lot of opportunity for setup though, which is it's main boon.
