Cal Newport is a computer science professor at Georgetown University. In addition to his academic research, he writes about the intersection of digital technology and culture. No system will work, I must work! Sticking to a system and tweaking it can be more helpful than complete overhauls constantly.

I completely agree! Consistency and making small adjustments to a system can often be more effective than constant overhauls. Your point about personal effort being crucial resonates well with me. Thanks for sharing this insightful perspective!

The Franklin system , the first major duty was planning & solitude. Was to sort out & focus, and the end of day tidy up & prep.

The most sustainable and efficient system is consistency with incremental improvements.

Most people try for 2-3 days and give up. I tried some of your methods 100 days straight and saw a lot in me

I’m a huge fan of you, Cal. I’ve been trying time blocking for a while but I always need to set an alarm to not forget the next time block, but it always tears me out of deep, focused work. Is there another possibility? If you already answered that I’m sorry, I haven’t watch all of your videos yet, but I will. Thank you 🙏

I have the same problem, which is why i just gave up on time blocking and create to do lists instead

@@sigmamale4064 why did you choose to do lists? I found out pudding one task on one index card and putting them into a 43 folder system is more effective. You only see one task at a time and don’t become overwhelmed. Have you heard about this system?

I found in many meeting there was no tasks broken down & asigned (tasks that are concise & clear) then next meeting no one had progress. Or managers were just talking & no or

Sometimes it's helpful to just quit watching and playing for a specific time, such as one week. Then see how that feels, see how much you can get done in productive work. I think "fasting" (doing without) for a time is helpful to reset myself. Getting rid of, removing, or otherwise making it difficult to get to the distractions can also help. When your desire to change and your discipline to actually change match, then you'll overcome the obstacles. Good luck!! There are many rooting for you.
