Finally someone gave Ishant the due credit. Sometimes you give everything and yet not get much in return. The fact that he persisted so many years, shows he is a fighter. It’s a shame that the world’s strongest cricketing board could not even identify the issue with Ishant. A very humble end to his career, although I believe could have been glorious.
I think everything changed when he got the in swing going in 2016. Man bun Ishant Sharma was quite a treat to watch. Adjusting his run up, his wrist position also helped him hit higher speeds when he could. I remember him hitting 140+ a bit more consistently whenever he could. I have a lot of respect for him no matter what the statistics say.
Jason Gillespie was the perfect man to effect this change. He was also a tall fast bowler, and at his best, his stock length with the new ball was extremely full, almost half volley length, but he was able to produce enough movement with the ball that attempts to drive him off that fuller length would often result in nicks, so he certainly knew a thing or two about bowling a fuller length effectively
Ishant is a player who isn't remembered for his long career rather I remember him for his specific moments and contributions like the champions trophy final in 2013 , that lords match , his spell against Ricky Ponting and his 2nd half career as mentioned in videos .
Goat Indian bowler still I remember longest spells of him 14 overs msd used him to make a pressure on opposition that’s why his avg is high what Indian team achieved in last 15 years Ishant have huge role
This was really impressive. It is very rare to see these many stats and details presented on a YT video. If I had not watched this video I would never imaging ishant sharma's career being so important. We should give due credit to ishant sharma, he stayed in the cricket for so many years and we never realise it. This video increased my respect towards Ishant Sharma.
I am a huge fan of Ishant and first time I listened this Gillespie story thoroughly…was knowing a bit but not completely. Thank you for covering it. Also one point I think is Ishant has played many matches in India where fast bowlers don’t get much to bowl at.
This is kind of analysis we want from our commentators and cricket experts but these days people don't do analysis but just take a couple of mic and do podcasts, pathatic (no 2 sloggers were hurt). I hope your channel grow and keep doing the good work.
interesting point of view. I love it. Always wondered why Ishant wasn't effective. Now with your presentation ...maybe his performance fits into your point of view. Thank you
I can see some changes in Siraj bowling as well, he used to bowl scrambled seam deliveries to get wickets. Nowadays it's missing and that might be the reason for him to get less or no wickets.
@@im1480When he played his last test match in 2018, he was playing along with Vijay and KL rahul switching. The guy who actually replaced him was none other than Prithvi Shaw😂 He debuted in Wi series right before BGT'18 series where he played debuted century. Mayank debuted in BGT'18 series replacing Vijay and Rohit started playing as full time opener since 2019
@@harsh2810 why you are laughing on prithvi shaw?😤 He is a great talent. Scored century on debut. He is out of fitness, that's it‼️ Okay whatever, what I said is yashasvi with average of 70 cemented his place. There is no chance 🤝🏻❤️
I think Ishant's also maybe finally feeling the effects of so many years of cricket. He's mentioned recently that his body is starting to fail him sometimes, so that may be another reason why he's been dropped or just voluntarily stepped down
The moral of the story, you need good coaches who will not change your natural action but guide you a better technique. If we get the improvement in bowler with the guidance of quality guidance of Gillespie. He should be hired to improve indian international, Ranji bowlers. Please share with the late current BCCI and the lazy team captain. Its duty of captain to sit and find best arsenal to win him the matches. Here needs to hire a bowling coach like Gillespie
Gillespie would absolutely be the right person to advise Ishant Sharma about this issue, himself being a tall lanky fast bowler who throughout his career would often build pressure but not get the nick. Of course, Gillespie still managed to be a massive threat and take wickets so he knows how to remedy that problem.
Can you do one video about Bhuvneshwar Kumar? I do like this bowler a lot, but his blatant absence in Test Cricket is kind of weird to me. I would like to know what happened that he just got ignored in Test Cricket after 2018
I have a question, was Ishant that unique of a bowler considering the selectors would've changed him after 4 years of career? He isn't the first preference clearly but were India really badly lacking in fast bowlers then to replace him?
What is your opinion on siraj who bowls good balls beat the batsman but not convert it into wkts sometimes on his. Day he can be beast but sometimes he is not able to pick wkts in all formats nd when hits him a boundries he was charged up and bang balls short and overpitched
I wonder who the next version of Ishant is going to be. Literal workhorse who might get underrated in the grand scheme of things because he didn’t have that “X-factor” of taking wickets.
What's the whole point of this video? When people like Umran Malik Mayank Yadav bowling at 155 + are in line, how can a 135 bowler with no special achievement be allowed in the team?

Gatta Ishant I don't know why he was clobbered by left handers. He had to bowl with all force and he'll splatter the stumps of the batters, especially the lefties. The batsmen will be scared to face him because he was a gatta
Surprised to see the video focus so much on Bowler’s Average instead of Strike Rate which is more important for Bowlers in Tests. Bowler’s Average = Runs per wicket Bowler’s Strike Rate = Balls per wicket Imagine how much more sense the video would have made had it focused on Strike rate.
Ohh noo. Agree a 100%. We've talked about the strike rates too but we focused on the average only because that's what is usually talked about when comparing test bowlers. So we wanted to stick to it because it's a little more relatable. And the reason usually is that you don't want to be leaking runs while taking wickets. Bowlers strike rate over the years remaining about the same as compared to the average of a bowler (usually) But you're absolutely spot on.
@@cricketbyjbThey say, test match is all about taking 20 wickets. Another way to look at it - when talking about fast bowlers, would you want those who bowl maiden overs in opening spells (maybe low average)? Or would you want those who pick early wickets (maybe low strike rate)? Early wickets (and low strike rate) not only helps the bowler’s cause, but also his fellow bowlers and team’s cause. Average on the other hand, may or may not.

I miss Ishant
unpopular opinion ishant could havee playeed a few more years, he is definitely better than mukesh, siraj and most of the other fast bowlers
That should be the popular opinion
if a player wastes 10 years at international level, he has a very below avg career and should have been dropped way before
