As a Dhoni fan, it's so rare to even acknowledge he did not have many runs post-2016. Dhoni in the IPL and Dhoni in the international ODIs after 2015 were two different batsmen. Now I don't believe it has anything to do with money ( as people would generally interpret it). Still, it has to do with the difference in quality between IPL and International Cricket. Maybe he took the role of being an anchor too seriously in International cricket, but in IPL he was more free. So I think it's more than the footwork, it's having different roles and expectations that defined how Dhoni slowly faded. I always hoped he took on the role of big hitter more often in international cricket than just trying to play the anchor role, especially when Kohli was there to play an anchor. Also he was coming down too late 6th down even to plan an anchor role. A pinch hitter would have suited more. He should have batted 2nd down, if he had to anchor.

Dhoni scored more than 500+ runs almost each year while playing in lower order & 1000+ runs each year when he played in top order. Only time he struggled was during 2016 & 2018. How many runs pandya scored every year in odi while playing in lower order? His best performance was in 2017 wher3 he scored 557 in 19 matches. Meanwhile Dhoni scored 600 runs in 16 matches in his last year before taking retirement. That was not even his best year. How many runs Jadeja scored in 2023 in odi format? Only 309 in 17 matches. Surya scored only 389 in 20 matches. But still people had Problem with Dhoni's performance in his last years. Dhoni scored more runs than all these 3 players who dhoni haters thought can replace Dhoni during dhoni was not at his peak. India would never find flexible batsman like him who played long innings when our top & middle order failed while playing with 300+ strike rate in last overs.
Pandya isn't a full time batsman, Jadeja is a bowler & Surya is sacked from ODIs for the same, why does Dhoni need protecting when factually he is a slow batter?
@@srikanthsv79 Jadeja is a bowler? 😂 He's an all-rounder. Pandya is also all-rounder. Surya is a proper batsman. They're expected to play well as batsman in lower order. Also ODI is not like T20. In ODI, You have to play long innings and play defensive if your top and middle order fail. Dhoni exactly played that part several time in his career. How did surya performed in odi worldcup during Australia when we were in that situation? Also let me be very clear that i like all those 3 players. But sometimes you have to compare players to put things into perspective & to know the value of that player..
@@srikanthsv79 They don't take him in the team just for bowling. He's in the team for batting too. If we only needed a bowler then we had way better options than Jadeja like Chahal, Ashwin & many more.
@AyushKumar-ry4gr Rohit is one of the greatest odi players ever and one of the greatest t20i players ever . He did bad in 2 t20 wc . He also never costed india any wc so shut up dhoni fan
@AyushKumar-ry4grlol,don't act like an expert and don't give statement like rohit inability to take responsibility and all😂... U didn't even analysed how our batting structure remodeled and were build brilliantly by captain and coach in 2023..and u are giving shitty comments with zero knowledge... Infact Rohit is took the greater responsibility and most risky role in the entire batting unit..for the team,he changed his batting approach..if he had same old approach,he could have done the same as 2019 or considering the Indian pitch he could have easily scored 750+ runs.. In 2019 both Rohit and kohli played anchoring innings,in a team, untill unless situation demands both batters can't have same anchoring innings,in 2019 our team's majority percentage of runs, scored heavily by top order and one bad day and pitch conditions, top order collapsed and rest of the batters couldn't handle and lead the team to victory plus wrong batter at the most crucial postion which at4in 2019.. Post to 2023,one batter from top order has to play an aggressive approach,we can't ask that to gill, then remaining Rohit and kohli is there...kohli can't definitely change his batting approach and take agressive approach from the starting his innings, since he is not that much adaptive in changing his batting approach,so as a leader Rohit took that risky role and lead from the front... By making Virat centre point ,he build his team,...he provided almost everytime ood start with great runrate and runs on the board and took all the risk and bashed opposition main bowlers..which pushed opposite captain to use his main bowler to bowl extra overs to take his wickets ,so Rohit wasted opposite main bowlers atleast one over which was beneficial for coming batters and by bashing opposition Rohit gained mental advantage over opposition and good mental state for team India.. With good start of Rohit and best possible runrate in score board,Virat Kohli had literally no pressure and he can play his natural game and can take his time, since it won't affect the runrate, due to Rohit's contribution..it was applicable for rest of the batters also..and in the middle while kohli doing anchoring role,Rohit made sreyas to play aggressive against spinners and middle order which balanced nd maintained teams run rate...
@@crixeditz48then coming into final day,in the whole tournament he played like that only..if he hadn't that too either india's final score would have been much lesser than the current one..also the toss factor it was clearly not favouring is,after power play pitch will get slow,so he tries to maximize the score for team, and that catch wasn't easy catch, luck didn't favour him that day..still after Powerplay we had around 80+ runs at the runrate of 8.point something which is in odi final.that was fucking brilliant and ideal and dream powerplay for any team playing in final..and u are questioning him,wht a bloody brilliant cricket knowledge u have😂...also I would like to remind u indian had 6 specialists batters otherthan Rohit, and u are saying Rohit inability tobtake responsibility, how pathetic! The Hundred against England where he rescued the innings with Yuvraj Singh, it was one of the ugliest displays of batting from in the initial part of the innings, even though I love him to death.
@@sudhanshudixit4221 why do you always talk about technique? Technique only matters in tests. That's why he is not a great test player. After 2012 , dhoni always faced struggles to be set on the pitch. Once he is set , he used to go for big hits.he scored 134 off 122 which was a good score. And in the last phase of his t20 career he played with a decent strike rate of 140+. Yes he was not that great before 2014 in T20. After 2014 , he started his aggressive batting. But it was too late for him to increase his strike rate.😢, but as 35+ old his strike rate and avg in odi was decent. ( I am not talking about 2016 and 2018)
@@suprabhodey4145 This is a technical analysis video that's why I am talking about technique 🙃. Plus he had a much more free flowing posture in 2019 compared to the last three years. I am not even getting into stats Because at that age hand eye coordination goes away. But his technique certainly bound him to a great extent. He was visibly struggling to find the gaps very often.
u forgot to mention one important point is how he changed he backlift in around 2016. earlier his bat used to go all the way up but he changed to keep it in the standard position post 2016. imo, that also had an impact on the way he played.
Dhoni was unorthodox. Comparing him with other unorthodox batters, say for example Virender Sewag or an Adam Gilchrist, Dhoni lacks "balance at the crease". You can easily say that hand eye coordination is the key, if you lack footwork. But hand eye coordination comes from the stillness of the head when you watch the ball being delivered out of the bowlers hand(and you watch it all the way on to the bat, ofcourse, everything happens in a fraction of a second against the pacers). If you take take a look at Gilchrist and sewag, their balance (which comes from the stillness of the head while watching the ball delivered out of the bowler) puts them in great positions to play a shot according to the line and the length of the ball. The modern day definition of batsmanship revolves around balance at the crease. But if you take a look at MS, his head was not still enough to watch the ball close enough being delivered out of the bowlers hand. This puts his body in awkward positions while playing shots(while Gilchrist and Sehwag gets into eye pleasingly great positions while playing a shot). Your comments about Sachin's bat speed was accurate. Sachin lost significant amount of bat speed in the early 2000s due to tennis elbow. If you take a look at him in the 90s, he used to play a lot of lofted shots against quality pacers(courtsey to his bats speed) Courtesy to his balance and footwork, Sachin managed to play another 11 more years of international cricket and was very successful(although he got some criticism being not aggressive enough in the limited over format).
Yha bhi rone aa gya kholi andhbhakt 😂😂😂baap Hai Kya tera MSD kafi obsessed Hai tu usse MSD Kabhi 3rd no.pe batting na chhoda hota to thik tha to tu Apne baap Kohli ko na dekh paata😂
MS Dhoni is revered as a legend by some and criticized by others. As a cricket fan, while I may not be a fan of Dhoni’s batting, I deeply admire his captaincy and wicketkeeping skills. You can't deny the fact that he reached the pinnacle of ODI rankings when the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, AB de Villiers, Michael Hussey, and Chris Gayle were dominating the scene-all while batting in the lower order. Until his wicket fell in the 2019 World Cup semi-final, everyone stood by him, but after that, only his true die-hard fans remained loyal, while others began to criticize him. Fans of Kohli and Rohit started pointing out his batting stats, alleged political tactics, and more. But do you think Dhoni cares about anyone's opinion? Absolutely not. He’s living his best life, still earning millions. Famous people like him don’t concern themselves with whether you support or hate them. So, why waste energy arguing in the comments section?
Great video, but imo the technique change that messed it up for him happened in the Test Series against England in 2014. He had widened his stance and started standing upright instead of his natural bent back/low hands position. He started tucking his hands in, particularly his left elbow to avoid poking outside off stump and he'd walk across and work those deliveries to the on side throughout that series. This allowed him to be relatively successful considering he was the second highest scorer for India in that series (4 50s in batting collapses, more saving grace than match winning knocks really). From then on, he kept trying to work his way back to his original explosive technique (while trying alternatives along the way) but he couldn't because of his deteriorating hand eye coordination as you pointed out. His ability to step out to spinners was hampered, especially to the ball turning away and with time and he ended up being just a crafty 240-270 chasing ODI batsman for the last 4-5 years of his career. 2018-19 in the IPL he had managed to salvage some of his hitting prowess, but I'd attribute that to smaller grounds, easier bowling and more confidence/clarity in what his role was considering he is the end all be all at CSK.
Superb analysis this. Many people miss the fact that he never was as reliable and fearsome a batter post 2014. I grew up watching and rooting for young MS, but his attempts at reinventing himself failed miserably. He'll always be a legend of the game for me, but Dhoni the batter definitely didn't age as nicely as ABD, Sachin, or even Rohit for that matter.
@@avviralsharma4965 Sachin's career is an anomaly cause he started too young, but the other two didn't exactly hit the ground running like MS did. People don't remember ABD's days opening for SA when he used to play outside 'the box' that he now describes as a pillar for his success. Similarly, Rohit was Maggi-man for his first 5-6 years till he tasted success opening in CT13. Two far more technically superior batsmen spent 5-6 years trying to find their mojo. On the flip side, MS came in, made an impact right away, and in his first 5 years, became World no.1 in ODIs with Sachin, Sehwag and Yuvraj playing alongside him. So yeah 2015-19 weren't great, but we cut him slack by allowing him those five years of mediocrity that he wasn't afforded at the start of his career lol. Again just my opinion, I could be wrong. One fact is undeniable though, nobody hits sixes like him, that brutal bat swing is unforgettable.
Dhoni was always a great ODI batsman. Maybe in top 4-5 batsman in ODI from India. But he was never that good in T20i. Any reasons for Dhoni's failure in T20i even though he was a power hitter he strikes only at 126 in T20i.
Yes , I don't know why he struggled in the initial stage of his career as a T20 batsman. He used to play well at the end of his career. But it was too late to increase his strike rate.
Dhoni could not realize the need of the team, what Macculum realised and promoted himself to the opener slot.......ek baar soch ke dekho...Dhoni open kar raha hai.....acche accho ki pasine nikal gaye hote tab.....
Despite being so calm and intelligent dhoni didn't realise that no.2 and no.4 is the best position for him for batting. He just sacrificed his position and his talent for that no.5 position. Actually he needs some time to settle on pitch. So being an opener was the best option for him ,but he chose to bat at no.5.😞😞
Proud of my cricket knowledge❤ He kept this trigger movement in ipl for almost 2022 but from the last 2 seasons he has gone to his old technique and again hitting sixes at will ❤
As a biggg fan of MS Dhoni, I myself noticed these changes and the video is totally on Point 💯 And if you go even further deep into history, Dhoni before 2006-07 didnt even get his front foot out which he started doing around in 2008 CB series when he used to hang around in middle , in hindi its like frontfoot pr press krke spinners ko steer krna for singles and doubles, thats where I think his poweress to smash or literally butcher spinners was gone
He suffered from a hip injury, he was not so effective against spinners after 2012 ,but I think he has recovered his hip injury, that's why he is playing so well against spinners in this ipl. But right now he is suffering from a knee injury. 😢

Dhoni struggled against leg spinners , what if he had batted against Shane warne in 90s in test match where warne used to bowl spell of 10-12 overs continuously !!
Thanks, man. This is what I wanted for such a long time. A genuine analysis video on Dhoni. Coz everytime a big expert does it, it always becomes mindless praising. I too wondered why nobody talks about so many technical changes Dhoni made in his later years. I think it was almost a psychological problem with him. In his later years he just wasn't the same confident Dhoni of old. Dhoni's technique was never good but it didn't matter bcoz of his confidence and clear thinking. Dhoni in his last few years, I think, was very confused as a batter. In the recent IPL, his confidence was high and he batted brilliantly.
Th fact that Lower order batsman Dhoni taking same number of innings as sachin tendulkar to score 7000 runs in ODI and also scoring 10000 runs in lesser innings than Brain Lara and also just 14 innings more than the great Tendulkar himself tells the unparalleled talent that the Dhoni had.

Good analysis mate. As MS Dhoni fan, I agree with what you have said. Post 2015, he really struggled to rotate strike and also was more of a ball consumer. In the year 2016, he was going through the transitional phase. He struggled his way throughout in IPL 2017 and at international level from 2018.

About MSD i believe it is a problem of every unorthodox big hitter to suffer that fate at some or other time in their career . It began to happen to MSD very late in his career , same for Yuvi and Raina who struggled against spin or short pitch bowling even more later on. The only technical big hitter i see who hasn't struggled is Rohit sharma and that's why he was regarded as Sachin Tendulkar's replacement before kohli came along but still he is doing great when Kohli was struggling for runs in T20 world cup. please make a video on shubhhman gill and why he is struggling since 2023 2024? He is not as good as he was till 2022. He is coming in form or out of form more often this 2 years and Jaiswal and Ruturaj are onto his space now of becoming the next great after Kohli. Please also do a review of why Suryakumar yadav struggles so much in ODI also whereas in T20 he is like ABD villers of india.
I don't think Rohit was deemed as next Sachin... Rohit was never that good. And once Kohli came into the stage unfortunately for Rohit he became a second fiddle in ICT just like what happened to Dravid under Sachin.
@@1239-p1k Bro Rohit was hyped as the Next Great after Sachin as he was also from Mumbai Ranji team and getting selected to play at the age of 20yrs . Virat kohli was also great but he only became more famous after winning the under 19 world cup in 2008 as a captain. It got him into the team . Whereas Rohit was tried only in 1 series before being directly put in the T20 world cup squad of 2007, That's how good he was. But he was languishing in the middle order at no5 or no6. He was in and out of team before 2013 rolled around, he was not selected for 2011 world cup due to poor performances . He was also ridiculed by Aaj tak news channel back in 2011 for being unfit and that's when he told his friend/senior from from Mumbai Ranji team Ajay nayar that he will do whatever it takes to be fit again and make a comeback permanently and this was after world cup 2011 Triumph. That's when Hitman was born. So when 2013 champions trophy was coming up in few months Rohit sharma was literally made opener alongside Shikhar Dhawan In place of Sehwag and Gambhir actually . They both were dropped till that time due to bad form and Dhoni wanted new players to take the centrestage just like 2007 world cup. Till 2013 Rohit sharma had 3 hundreds and around 25 fifties being a no.5/no.6 batsman . But after 2013 champions trophy his record exploded. He was among runs and IPL trophies also . Now onto virat kohli , he is like Sachin Tendulkar, he likes to meticulously build his innings , prefers ground shots, boundaries mostly but will hit a few 6s if he can. He is big match player , loves chasing big targets but has huge hunger for runs just like Sachin . Whatever he achieved he got it because of his determination, courage , go getter attitude 💪, discipline, passion and hard work obviously, I respect that and love that about him but Rohit sharma was a natural god gifted talent for Batting , when Rohit sharma was coming up Kohli also has heard a lot about him so he decided to watch him play and what he saw amazed him to the point that he was awestruck by his Batting, he just sat there seeing his effortless stroke play. This has been said by Virat kohli himself. So who the fuck are we to judge ? See Rohit sharma can play aggressively and calmly build his innings also. Plus he makes it look effortless. Even when he hit 264 not out he was calmly steadily building his innings hence the first 50runs came slowly but after that he exploded through the opposition bowling line-up. When Rohit came back in the dressing room after hitting 264 not out Coach Duncan fletcher just told him if he didn't play slow during the first fifty runs he would have hit a 300 that day. Right now at this point in history Rohit sharma is on the level of Virat kohli as a equal. Even Gambhir himself said it during IPL once "Only captain or player to give me sleepless nights is Rohit sharma . Against Rohit sharma Plan A,B,C everything falls apart if he is playing ."
Yuvi's struggle was post his cancer treatment. He was at his 15-20% post cancer. On the other hand, raina was just given too many chances. They could have given those number of chances to Manish pandey or Ambani rayudu back then. And shubman gill is struggling only in tests because he wants to look as elegant as Kohli but in that process he is compromising on his technique. If focuses on technique, he can become even better batsman than Kohli. Suryakumar Yadav was never a ODI batter let alone Tests😂😂😂. Who was the genius behind the decision of taking suryakumar yadav to WTC final last year😂😂.
He put off the trigger movement in 2018 because of his back issues that began cropping up midway through the IPL. You can see him triggering even as late as the innings against KXIP when he hit 70 odd in a losing cause, but the trigger progressively reduces after this innings. The back and across did reappear (I think) in the England ODIs that followed, at least against spinners, but he was inconsistent with its usage.

Wtf is ended his career......No one could have ever imagined to drop him from any game beacuse Dhoni is someone who was known to offer more than just batting...In his final days of playing for india his contribution was so humongous like his tactics, game understanding, holding the game from one end ,etc. He himself chose to end his carrer and if he wouldn't have called for a retirement...he could still find a place in the team because he offers so much experience to the team.
Dhoni and Sehwag both had a batting style that was heavily dependant on their batspeed and hand-eye coordination. Both started declining in their early 30s when both of those started to go with age, and Sehwag was pretty much done at 35. So was Dhoni, but his leadership helped him stay a bit longer. Sachin and Dravid had more solid technical foundations, which is why when the physical abilites start declining they could still rely on their technical ability to adapt and change their style a bit. Virat Kohli is like a hybrid of the two styles, and I REALLY REALLY hope hecan adapt his style too without this 5th stump ball thing becoming an Achilles heel.

Casual Dhoni fan here and i have something to clarify about the pads part... A few years back, presumably at around 2015, I had asked to many of my elder relatives who watch cricket as to why does Dhoni use those old, short and worn out pads and that too with 2 straps while basically every other batsmen that wee see use taller and 3 strapped pads? Well they're no expert cricket analyst as this guy but they all suggested the same thing; its not about having 2 straps; over time as the pads wear out the weight decreases (even if it is in a negligible amount) so dhoni, or any other batsmen who uses old pads really, can run faster between the wickets... And no joke; Dhoni is a monster between the wickets... He runs like a bull, I've seen videos of him running at around 30kmph or something... Apart from the plenty of dot balls that he consumes I think he is still a solid batsman considering his age as well... And Dhoni often struggles with back pain so the problem is he couldn't dive... so maybe that's why he stuck to these type of pads, in order to run faster instead... Creator, please verify this for me... And I like your style of talking and analysing... Yes dhoni barely uses footwork in recent times, I agree... But he is still able to hit big shots and what not, in the IPL at least... It always makes you happy seeing him play, agree or not🙂
I beg to differ bro. The truth is, he stopped going back and across only when he wanted to hit big ie in the end overs. Had the Indian wicketkeeper legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni been made the captain of the cricket team in all 3 formats of the game after 2011 ODI World Cup then he would have captained India in 2015,2019 and 2023 ODI World Cup.In the fact the T20 2007 and 2011 ODI World Cups champion captain Dhoni deserved a hundred times better quality of retirement instead retiring as a scape goat behind 2019 World Cup loss in semi final stage.

Dhoni didn't have orthodox batting technique and textbook batting style but because of his game awareness he became one of the great batsman ,from the time he retired in test format he started to lose his form in other formats too because of lack of time spent in middling the ball ,anyway he had a great career and want to have great farewell in ipl but that didn't happen

As a Dhoni fan, I do agree with badically all of the points in this video. But a few things i would say is that learning is an important but not very recognized skill in a sports player, especially in cricket. Dhoni learning and changing things after a successful career spanning over a decade should be applauded. And also, thala wasnt as good with the bat after world cup 2015 tbh. He was getting older and had to keep as well, and that really took a lot out of him. Even Sangakkarra stopped keeping a lot later in his test career and thats why people say he retired in his prime. Also, a lot of his changes did work, but he was still under pressure due to not being the batter he once was. To add on to that, Dhoni had, all things considered, a pretty alright finish to his career with the bat, considering where he was in 2016. His batting was better than average in 2017 and 18, and his batting was average in 2019. And looking onto the 2019 world cup, it looked like a washed dhoni performed better than a young rahul and pant as a keeper. Essentially, Dhoni changed his techniques, and it didnt work out as well due to his age and keeping on top of that. A lot of people in this comment section are just finding this video as an excuse to hate on dhoni or praise him mkre, when in fact i felt like none of your points really degraded him nor praised him, just showed what kind of player he was.
He didnt struggle ever match. He has good series in aus. And scored few runs in nz as well. Few innings he might have struggled in slow pitches like wi. And lords match in England. Other than that after his giving up captaincy he had 50+ average in odi.
Dhoni made Big mistake he prolonged his carrer . I still remember his batting in 1 ball era he used to hit and smash bowlers all over the ground then suddenly his downfall started in 2014 but it wont affected him his actual down fall started in 2015 after WC he should have retired after 2015 CWC. If done nothing special btw 2016-2019 he was just worst in batting at that time i remember 2019 wc game vs afg,wi he was playing dot bats constantly which effected his striking partners. Atleast should have retired after 2016 t20 wc or 2017 CT even Shastri made mistake by not dropping him .
2014 was still pretty good. But each and every genuine and unbiased cricket fan knows that he should have hung his boots from international cricket after 2015 wc.

I agree with most of your points, but i am happy he did well in 2019, at the age of 37, not easy to be man of the series in Australia

By making Virat centre point ,he build his team,...he provided almost everytime ood start with great runrate and runs on the board and took all the risk and bashed opposition main bowlers..which pushed opposite captain to use his main bowler to bowl extra overs to take his wickets
,so Rohit wasted opposite main bowlers atleast one over which was beneficial for coming batters and by bashing opposition Rohit gained mental advantage over opposition and good mental state for team India..
@@crixeditz48then coming into final day,in the whole tournament he played like that only..if he hadn't that too either india's final score would have been much lesser than the current one..also the toss factor it was clearly not favouring is,after power play pitch will get slow,so he tries to maximize the score for team, and that catch wasn't easy catch, luck didn't favour him that day..still after Powerplay we had around 80+ runs at the runrate of 8.point something which is in odi final.that was fucking brilliant and ideal and dream powerplay for any team playing in final..and u are questioning him,wht a bloody brilliant cricket knowledge u have😂...also I would like to remind u indian had 6 specialists batters otherthan Rohit, and u are saying Rohit inability tobtake responsibility, how pathetic! knew this from starting, mahi was so lacing on technique but man was street smart

If you take a look at him in the 90s, he used to play a lot of lofted shots against quality pacers(courtsey to his bats speed)
Courtesy to his balance and footwork, Sachin managed to play another 11 more years of international cricket and was very successful(although he got some criticism being not aggressive enough in the limited over format).
I wouldn’t say dhoni struggled with the bat when he’s scored 273 runs in 9 innings in Odi World Cup 2019 averaging 46 with 2 50+ scores

The fanbase who can't digest criticism are calling dhoni fans toxic

He kept this trigger movement in ipl for almost 2022 but from the last 2 seasons he has gone to his old technique and again hitting sixes at will ❤
As a biggg fan of MS Dhoni, I myself noticed these changes and the video is totally on Point 💯 And if you go even further deep into history, Dhoni before 2006-07 didnt even get his front foot out which he started doing around in 2008 CB series when he used to hang around in middle , in hindi its like frontfoot pr press krke spinners ko steer krna for singles and doubles, thats where I think his poweress to smash or literally butcher spinners was gone
He suffered from a hip injury, he was not so effective against spinners after 2012 ,but I think he has recovered his hip injury, that's why he is playing so well against spinners in this ipl. But right now he is suffering from a knee injury. 😢

Dhoni could not lift his bat in bouncy pitch test matches even in his peek
He wasn't technically sound. Heavily relied on his power, throughtout his career.
I still remember, before 2015 CWC, he used to play spinners on backfoot very beautifully, but after 2015wc , he struggle very badly against spinners.
Dhoni struggled against leg spinners , what if he had batted against Shane warne in 90s in test match where warne used to bowl spell of 10-12 overs continuously !!
this would be such an epic battle!
Off spin troubled him more . He was awful against the off spin.
Left arm off spin was his nightmare
Very good analysis, keep up the good work. You will definitely grow !
Finally someone talked about this. His technique was so different pre 2016 and after 2016
Actually 2017 is the best time for his retirement but he didn't take retirement where his downfall starts.
Downfall?! Lol he still gave you a stellar annual performances in 2019 . In 2018 ,he showed some excellent form in ipl.

Apart from technique, Dhoni also became very lean between 2015-2019, he used to look strong before. But I am seeing from 2023 and 2024 he has gotten back to his muscular look, and so his hitting has also returned

Please also do a review of why Suryakumar yadav struggles so much in ODI also whereas in T20 he is like ABD villers of india.
that’s an interesting insight! And yes, will try to make more in depth analyses videos!

It always makes you happy seeing him play, agree or not🙂
He also suffered from hip injury
I beg to differ bro. The truth is, he stopped going back and across only when he wanted to hit big ie in the end overs. Entire IPL he had the movement both 2018 and 2019. 2018 asia cup still he had the movement. But in the slog overs, he would keep really still and use his bottom hand to hit it over the boundary. Check out the videos : CSK vs PK 2018 mohali match, IND vs BAN 2018 asia cup etc.

What you are yapping about pal?! No one wouldn't have gave chances in 2014 and 2016 icc tournaments considering his worst performances on that phase. Still he had the chance to play. He retired from Intl in early stage of 2019 .

its not changing the technique ofcouse changed something, but u have to understand this dhoni have different stance and trigger movements for every phase... like if he want to keep his wicket he will play in a defensive more agile, more lower head hardly small trigger movemnt. if he want to hit hard, we can see there is more trigger movemnt, stand straight no taping...yeah i mean he changes his technique according to the game.
Young DHONI 💀
I had noticed the change in his technique back in 2016-17. I am so glad someone pointed this out! Kudos, great analysis!
And there was a change of rule regarding the bat thickness (thickness was reduced) around that time. This change in technique coincided with the rule as well
Dhoni should have retired in 2015. Big mistake to play long.
And who would have been your wicket keeper?
Dhoni can still play good cricket 👍 , u don't have better finishers than him still & the way he has captained & won cups for india
@@premnivas3484sorry he hasn't ever finished a game while target was 300+.
@@shekharpradhan5576would've found someone, we only had to manage till 2017 & Pant would've been 3 format keeper

When you raise the standards so high that others best achievements looks like a downfall for yours
Another day another banger my guys🔥🔥
If dhoni had been playing one down without changing his batting position he might have been one of the highest scorers in the cricketing world.
He was never coached to bat since young days, he is a finisher
Why did he have to change his technique in the first place? What worked for him in his initial career that didn't work towards the end of his career?
Oh ho, i heard one joke somewhere, tendulkar messaged dhoni that you should have played in a different way, and a fan of dhoni replied who are you to tell dhoni on how to bat, this video relates to it, they are legends, they know what and when to do, i am in early 40's, i would have watched plenty that some would have heard only names, everything sinks at the end, not to boost, but relate to yourself on whom you are speaking.
but actually if you will compare you will fine ms dhoni had lost form in just 2018 other than that the position he played at was very good compared to other international players like david miller and other lengeds
Dhoni should watch this - great analysis!
Dhoni's downfall started in 2014 he never remained the same player anymore his approach and intent is one of the reasons why india lost many matches including 2019 wc semi final
No ,no his downfall started just as fter he made his debut. 😂😂😂 , that's why he scored an avg of 700+ runs each year. And note that he also scored 10773 by just playing 297 innings. And most of the time he was either a middle order or a tail ender. So...😂😂

Dhoni Jadeja partnership at least have managed to get near the score
Our top order collapse will get into humiliation
Grow up kid @hishaamhussain3786 😂😂😂
@@user-x-x23 in that game dhoni put more pressure on Jadeja which eventually led to defeat dhoni is very poor in that game leaving slot balls failing to collect ball behind the stumps when fielders are throwing he is more defensive in batting he dragged the game till the end which ruined his own legacy forever stop being sentimental Dhoni is finished player after 2013 he should have retired after 2016 T20 World Cup instead he choose to play and become villain
One video on Why virat is can't performing since 2020-2025 in test cricket not perform in any format in 2024 despite having his 2nd best year in IPL?
simple reason is that red ball and white ball cricket are different ball games altogether. A lot of your mental as well as technical weaknesses will never come to light in a 20 over game on some of the best batting pitches in the world. We've made 2 videos on Kohli's issues, do watch!
@cricketbyjb virat failed in T20 wc after having a great ipl season both are white ball format . Pitches are definitely tough but not as much as kohli made it looks. In last England series Anderson was unable to take wicket of kohli for once in the whole series who identified kohli's weakness of outside off stump ball , virat overcome from his weakness but in this BGT , virat's dismissals are like reply of his one dismissal he is not looking committed and didn't even tried improve he was just busy to posting his training session photos trough his PR workers after everytime getting out to avoid criticism. Not performing is not the problem but Getting out in same method for the most successful batsman of a generation is the problem.
