    Truly Parking mode and motion detector are some of the most important features I consider, in buy in another cam. That is learning thought mistakes!

    The best parking mode I've seen was on a Goluk T3. It looks for motion only in the middle third of the bottom half of the field of view. I think it captures something like 15 seconds or so before the motion that triggered the recording and records till an equal amount of time after the motion is ended. Most times, activity more than about 30 feet from the T3 will not trigger recording, unless it is something very large.

      Hi BirbGanG, for parking mode dash cams, we always recommend Thinkware dash cams as they have the best parking mode sensors. If you're looking for something simple, try a Thinkware U1000 or a Q800PRO. Please contact our team at info[at]blackboxmycar.com and we'll set you up!

    With parking mode features this would imply there is some assurance that summer heat and winter Temps as low as -30c should be ok for the units.
    Do any of the manufacturers state the temperatures the units can function without damage? Both hot and cold.

    A powerbank keeps them in full power mode and recording until the powerbank dries up. Parking mode is low power and most of you already know it wont catch every accident or vandalism. 12 volt plug when car is running. Switch to the powerbank for parking. I fought with the idea of hardwiring for 2 months. Decided against it. Dont trust dead battery risk. Malfunctions can happen on the circuits.

    Great informative video someone recently came in the middle of the night and stole my license plate an attempted to steal my bumper are there any cameras that will pick up that sensitivity at night and record if so which do you recommend?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Jay, it will depend on the sensitivity of your dash cam and your parking mode settings. If you have continuous recording on (or impact/motion detection), then it will definitely record the person stealing your bumper.
      Dash cams that we recommend offer Super Night Vision, so recording in the dark will be of no problem. We recommend looking into the latest Thinkware dash cams (like the Thinkware U1000 / Q800PRO depending on your budget). Give us a shout at info[at]blackboxmycar.com if you have any questions!

    Any dash cam can have side views? Someone hit me at the right side back when I was parking

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Maya, unfortunately there are no good systems out there for 4-channels in one integration. However, if you were to have something that offers side views, we recommend taking 2 separate 2-channel systems and installing it so it covers the front & back & the side views. Here's how one of our influencers did it with 2 sets of VIOFO A129 Plus dash cams: ua-cam.com/video/f7LzzhQfOfw/v-deo.html
      We're happy to help you with that - please contact us at info[at]blackboxmycar.com.

      We would recommend a higher resolution, even up to 4K if it is within your budget. However, if we were to pick between those 2 options, we would go for 1440p :)
      Don't forget to just look beyond the resolution - other features should be considered as well, like the parking mode functionalities!

    i have a dash cam in my truck and it records great when im driving. But i need a motion activated camera for when its parked overnight. Ive had 2 instances where it didnt record damage to my truck because there wasnt any impact. The first instance someone shot it with a bb gun and some other cars around it. And the second instance someone threw rocks at cars hitting mine. So i need a good motion activated camera to use when im not driving. Do you know of any good cameras available for that.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  4 роки тому

      Hey toadsonytwo, what dash cam are you using? Depending on how you've installed it (we typically recommend hardwiring), your dash cam should already have motion activated parking mode enabled. If you are simply plugging your dash cam in via cigarette adapter, then you will not be able to have motion activated parking mode regardless of the dash cam that you're using.
      We'd recommend looking into Thinkware / BlackVue dash cams as they have really good parking mode capabilities. Check out our website for more information. If you have any questions, do let us know at info[at]blackboxmycar.com. Our team is ready to answer any questions that you may have.

      Depending on the camera you're looking at, they have temperature cut-offs.

    What do you know about Cobra dash cams? I run them in my semi and they seem to work pretty good. 160degree wide view. I currently have the Cobra CDR855BT, It doesn’t have built-in GPS but they sell an add-on GPS receiver thing that’ll plug into it. I’m looking into getting a dash cam for my personal vehicle, I’m looking at the CDR895 unless the black view is better.

    • @Garacha222
      @Garacha222 8 років тому +1

      +extreme604 This is a question I have too. Sounds like the battery pack setup that is not hard wired, but rather powered through the cigarette lighter could save the battery discharge to the point of exhaustion. so, if the car were not to be running for a week, the battery pack could run out during parking mode, and kill the camera. but you would still have a car that could start up when you turn the key. But maybe I am wrong.

    • @dondon4720
      @dondon4720 7 років тому

      Garacha222 there is a new version of the Celllink battery that can hardwire into your car but if the car is turned off the battery will not pull charge from the car battery it will just die, the next time you turn on your car it will re charge so you will never end up with a dead car battery but it will still be charged when the car is on

      Hello there,
      Many of our customers seek out a 2-Channel installation for added protection to their vehicles. However, vehicles can still be vulnerable to “door dings” and culprits can potentially get away with this side damage if they’re aren’t picked up by the cameras in the front and rear. Those seeking out the additional protection look for full 360-degree coverage that can be found in a 4-Channel setup.

    at 3:15 you say that it is recommended to wire the cam to the fusebox in order to prevent the car battery from discharging to a point one can't start the car.
    but how can a dash cam plugged into to a 12V output drain the car battery when the car is turned off?
    when the car is turned off the dash cam can't draw any power from the battery because the 12V plug is .... "dead" (I don't have a better word for it...)
    there is no electricity going from the car battery to the dash cam...

    My car got hit and lady parked opposite and buggered off. Unlucky for her, my mi-witness camera recorded the whole thing and the insurance and police have footage. Parking mode is just as important as driving, coz u wont be in the car and know who did it. Then as i was told by insurance, i would have suffered as i would of had liability, even though not my fault.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  6 років тому +1

      Thank you for your comment. We completely agree! We like to stress the importance of parking mode as much as possible to help avoid paying a deductible in situations when you are not at fault!

    • @spacedoutET
      @spacedoutET 6 років тому +1

      BlackboxMyCar highly agree. 👍. Tbh, i know from the past when i 1st got the camera, people would ask how much it cost. When you tell them a few hundred or so, with all the benefits, they overlook the benefits and say "oooooooow".
      But this knock was estimated around £1500 + as they wont know the full damage as they need to take the bumper off as the parking sensors are not working.
      So basically, they need to way up the 2 costs. Upto so many hundred for a decent camera with parking or possibly £1000s or even a right off. The difference is that the camera should be able to last a while and so it will serve you for more than 1 knock. But a knock without a cam will be a cost on yourself after every one, should you be so unlucky. This thing has paid for itself in my opinion. Ill never be without 1 EVER. 👍 now the people that have found out are a bit more wiser after they see footage.
      If only there was a way in the future that these devices were on more cars or insurance offered greater discounts, so we could sort out whos in the wrong more easily and punish the right people. Because our insurance always rises due to unknown fault claims, as i was told by my insurance. They told me there are so many claims where people were parked and get their car hit, scuffed, etc and never know who did it. So they are hit with liability, but its unfair. I was told i was very lucky to have had the cam at the right time.
      My friend just told me his dads car was in for a service and mot. He just paid and was driving home and had a drink driver hit his and 4 other cars. His dads cars been written off. But he didnt have a cam.
      ANYBODY UNSURE, DO YOUR RESEARCH AND DONT DELAY. you will kick yourself as it just takes 1 moment and u wont ever know if or when it could happen. 😉👍

      Qweenzs High ive never used anything other than the mi witness as its not failed yet.
      Ive already heard from insurance saying the other party have admitted liability. I will have everything sorted and no fault claim, so it wont affect my insurance. Ive also been offered a free upgrade to a larger hire car free of charge, due to non fault claim. Normally they only give u a basic low cost car.
      All this was only sorted because of this device. Without, i would never have known who hit me.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  5 років тому +1

      Hello Nick,
      Unless the thief has a heat gun and some tools, the cameras are generally harder to remove from the windshield.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  5 років тому

      As with anything left in a vehicle, yes, there is a chance of theft. However, dash cams are very discreet and most people do not recognize there is anything there. For example, we have a customer submitted footage where the vehicle was broken into but the cameras were left untouched as the thief did not notice: ua-cam.com/video/iknugKfZvQE/v-deo.html

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  7 років тому

      The Blackvue will not automatically back up to cloud, so even in that case the stolen camera = no footage. Cloud isn't a practical way to address the issue, unless it's non-stop recording to the cloud but the bandwidth/cellular data needed to support that is unfeasible.
