The video for ‘Meditjin’ was such an exciting process to work through, the concept blew my mind, so I was just so pumped we managed to pull all the elements together. The small things in this video make me so excited, like having my brother, Adam, and cousin, Tristan in the clip. It wasn’t really planned but the timing worked out, so it was like ‘why not’, they were so excited too! - Baker Boy

As far as the dancers go, I would've loved to see some of his people or other women of color. The music industry needs to switch it up a bit as far as having white girls as the main attraction in music videos all the time. It's getting really old and it's obviously biased.

@@casualuserish 100%, I grew up on a diet of American gangsta rap and British grime. I am surprised you thinks "sickest" is an American thing, maybe it is. Not sure, I would have thought "illest" was more American.
There will always be similarities in the way I speak but I sound 100% Aussie bogan.
Hilltop hoods to bliss & ESO to phrase to 360 and many more inbetween are Aussie artist that don't try to sound American. Too many Aussie artists just try to replicate the American hip-hop scene and it corny. What would an Aussie know about the ghettos of America? But hip-hop grew from the American ghettos, there will always be similarities.
Where as Baker Boy's lyrics are about the hardship of growing up indigenous in his own country. We have our own 3rd world conditions on our doorstep and it was his country first. Lines about Arnhem land, being black and being proud of who he is. Because of his lyrics I myself have started to try and learn some of his tribal language out of respect for his culture. If I want to sing along I don't want to get the lyrics wrong.
His particular line "I'm a proud black ........... Man listen to me flow" will have a heap of white kids yelling how proud and black they are without thinking. (I intentionally haven't written his tribes name because I'll get it wrong, until I know I'll get it right, that's my stance)
If it's intentional or not he is promoting a better understand by white Australia of indigenous culture. THAT is what we need. We need to come together to rewrite the accepted history which is horse shit. I've worked in remote communities of the Mardu people, watch a movie rabbit proof fence. I'll tell you right now, my people have no idea, his people do. My people caused the latest bushfires, under his peoples watch, that would never have happened. Anyone who says differently is a fool who has no idea.
Anyway that's my rant. I pay respect to where hip hip came from and love how young artists have made their own. I urge you to promote this guy as loudly as you can. Just listen to him and tell me he's not fricken amazing.
