I enjoyed the video and accept/agree with most of the information. As per the opinion that the only weapons we have to fight Covid 19 are Vaccines and social distancing I would say that statment is not entirely correct in my opinion. I would say vaccines for sure dispite not being perfect are still our most important weapons and I agree social distancing and keeping our social circles a bit smaller can help in the fight but there are other weapons too. Not sure if you lump the use of high quality N95 masks in with social distancing as I would say they are a good wepon to consider and I would list testing and at the individual level the use of rapid tests as they become more available is another wepon we can fight this with at the front end. At the treatment end I think although they are stupidly expensive and not a smart plan if leaned on instead of vaccination that monoclonal antibody treatment if used early and updated for Omecron has helped some and there is some reasearch into using regular antibody injections to shield the imunnocomprimised and allow them a chance at returning to a more normal life. Also there is great promise in the new Pfizer pill treatment again if infection is caught early. I dont plan on shedding a lot of tears for those that were too ignorrant and or self centred to get vaccinated but if science and an afordable course of treatment via pills at home can keep enough of thier stupid asses out of the hospital and we can come out of this winter with broadly spread and hopefully strong Omecron speciffic immunity with as little pressure on hospitals as possible then I think use everything we have and can muster to fight this wave and hopefullly be in better shape again for at least a while after this wave. Anyway dispite my points regarding what we list as "weapons" it was a helpful Omecron overview and good informative video. Thanks for creating and sharing this.
great video honestly I'm both annoyed and concerned thanks to how infectious Covid has been in general it has ample oppurtunity for mutation, given how many infected people there are which just gives it more potential to become more dangerous and also I am *afraid* of the anosmia/parosmia it can rarely cause
Back in 2004-I had SARS; the nose swab resulted in influenza B. Being in the medical field, and not knowing if the flu shot was effective or up to date, I commonly declined. Hand washing is important, but overall, it is human behaviors too. Now, with the influx of imagination, I don’t think situations are going to get any better or easier. How can we isolate or manage on disease transmission when third world nations are moving everywhere? Over vaccinations seems like a short solution but the short to long term effects isn’t going to help. Population density will decline, and the virus may weaken. There are other diseases too that are transmitted by secretions through the upper respiratory system. From the past, I don’t think nothing has changed. Many medications are being obsolete bc of ineffectiveness and resistance. There are people that feel medications are not needed bc of feeling better. I don’t think this is going to go well.
