Kashmir's first run of river hydel projects on Jhelum

✅A cycling trip to Kashmir's first run of the river hydel projects built on Jhelum post-1947
✅The project known as Lower Jhelum Hydroelectric Power Project (LJHP) is located in Baramulla district, some 16 kms from the district headquarters on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad Highway.
✅Lower Jhelum is a 105MW hydro power project located on Jhelum river.
✅LJHP was developed in a single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in 1978.
✅The power project had three turbines, 35 MW each.
✅ Bharat Heavy Electricals was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 3 units of francis turbines, each with 35MW nameplate capacity.
✅Lower Jhelum is a run-of-river project. The gross head of the project is 60.816m. The project generated 457.67 GWh of electricity.
