I did wonder where you were from going by you riding Ballater and such.. I'm Aberdeenshire 👍
I'm actually just outside Banchory so Ballater is only 30mims away. So Scolty can be ridden straight from the door so it's hard to go anywhere else really.
that's some good examples of horrible cycling infrastructure. I am that were I am I don't have that issue. wide pavement, cycle and walkways, enough room. when you have to ride on the road it's in residential areas , but even residential areas have paths at thee side of the main roads into them.
There is maybe one (possibly two) paths like that in the city where I work, the rest of it is shared use roads and round abouts, so a special kind of fear inducing compared to singletrack!
The only problem with this video is if you are showing people your vehicle, the area you park, and that you will be away all day.
It's a hard day if you cycle back to your car on an evening only to find it's been stolen.
That would be true if that vehicle still existed (scrapped last month 😭). The map is a hypothetical commute in the city I work as I didnt want to show my place of works location etc. Thanks for the note though as peoples strava can sometimes be a tip off to bike thieves. So if you do this and use strava make sure you either make the activity private or set a privacy circle (forget the proper name) over your start and end locations.
@@StravaigingMTB I always create new ridelong from and to a public area and start the public ride log there. like city centre.
@@mtbboy1993 I also mark my work and home as private areas on strava to stop thieves snooping that way.
@@StravaigingMTB Trailforks no longer sync private ridelogs to Strava, I don't know why, All ridelogs were synced as private, then I made them public manually on Strava. but now I would have to upload manually I guess. but I haven't done that, So far I am a fan of Trailforks anyway.
