    Additional Notes:
    1. A thin coat of construction adhesive should be applied to the underside of the shaker slats prior to nailing them to the cabinet doors.
    2. NEVER use a screwdriver as a nail set (punch.) This tool abuse will eventually render the screwdriver unusable. Use a proper punch.
    3. When applying putty over the nails, also apply putty along the inside of the shaker slats where they meet the original cabinet door surface and along the edges of the cabinet doors to preclude cracks that will be visible after the paint is applied..
    4. Prior to painting, when sanding the cabinet doors, also sand the edges of the doors, as well as the front surfaces, so that the added shaker slats are flush with the original cabinet door front surfaces and so that cracks are not visible after painting.
    5. When attaching the cabinet door knobs/handles, use a screwdriver to tighten the screws from the inside of the door, holding the knob/handle firmly in place on the front side of the door, instead of turning the knob/handle.

Um he did use glue. The screw drivers is cheap and works great fir this. He did everything you mentioned... other than the new hardware...your step isn't necessary. Lol good grief. Pompous ass

The " before" picture looks exactly like my cabinets now. We redid them a few years ago by painting them that same exact brown over the old golden cabinet. Now there are areas just like yours that are starting to show through. Thanks for the new ideas!

Unfortunately a lot of cabinets have bevel or rounded edges. I suggest if you are making shaker doors to bring wood in a little more to match right before it curves down. That’s what we had to do and ours are looking good. Good luck DIY’ers!

Wood filler and a metal scraper or better yet, a metal carpenter's square. They're made at a perfect right angle, so you can run it over the edges after filling the bevel.

score it with a xacto knive or good old utility knife blade, get the edges and keep digging in it until you remove grime, paint and junk that's made them hard to take off. elbow grease and evetually youll get them. Also i would suffest using wood filler or alterntives to fill in the possible dents or holes left by the old hinges.
