Alpinestars Tech 3/First Impression/Why Choose Motocross Boots For ADV Riding?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 чер 2024
- Just wanted to give you my first impression on the Alpinestars Tech 3's and why I chose them for ADVenture riding. They look and feel like a quality boot and are a little stiff out of the box. Something I didn't really mention in the video is how stuff the sole is which is a good thing because it gives your foot great support. I chose to wear motocross boots for the added stiffness and protection over adv style boots and that's all just personal preference. I like the fit and feel of the boot on my foot and they'll get even better with time. I think they're going to be perfect for the type of adventure motorcycle riding we do. Can't wait for our next motorcycle camping adventure so I can try them out in the real world. As always thanks for watching and please consider subscribing.

We'll keep you updated on how they hold up long term. New motocamping and adventure video coming this Friday. Thanks for watching.
How are you liking the boots?
@@KyleLeeWoyote I like them pretty good. They are comfortable and have been holding up great. My brother has the tech 7 and I would say they are better boots but the tech 3 are really good boots for the money.
Yup. When riding off-road you need the protection. The stiffer soles and toe protection are really important to keep you safe even when just dabbing, not just falls. Good review.
Couldn't agree more. Thanks. And thanks for watching and commenting. We really appreciate it.
Thanks for doing the video on the boot. I appreciate it.
No problem. Thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it 👊
Nice honest review, go boys are gonna go far
Thanks! We really appreciate it. We sure hope we do. Thanks for watching and please consider subscribing. If you haven't already that is.
Great channel and info. I fitting my wee strom up to gravel roads and more adventure riding.
Thanks. V-stroms are great bikes. Thanks for watching and commenting. We really appreciate it 👊
I love the Sidi X-Power Off Road boot. Perfect width fit and comfortable. Thanks for your review about Tech 3 boots also. 🤙🏽
Sidi makes great boots. No problem. Thanks for watching. 👊
My bags came saturday man i can't thank ya'll enough i'm gonna put them to good use very soon

Congratulations…I actually might buy a set since I didn’t win. Hope you like them.
@@davesadventureshed208 they are better than i thought they would be especially for a hundred bucks
Great info. Thankyou sir.

Thank you for your review
Great review. I would of liked to try the 3's and 5's but weren't available locally at the time and wasn't buying them online. Love my tech 7's though, feel safer in them and the stiffer sole makes standing on the pegs much better than adv boots.. Not bad too walk in either.
I didn't like the 5's at all. They just didn't fit right and that middle buckle thing was weird. The 7's are super nice and I would have gotten them in a heartbeat but just didn't want to spend that kind of cash lol.
Great review!!!
Thanks. I'm not really good at these types of videos but figured someone might benefit even with my southern tone and rambling on 😂 I guess I can't get better at it unless I do these videos.
@@TheBeardedGrump I suppose that’s true! You don’t see me doing them!!😂😂😂
@@Motoramblings 😂
Was on the fence over what boots to get. I knew my Alpinestars touring boots just weren’t gonna cut it. I’m retired and on a budget. Already knew that Alpinestars fit worked for me, just which boot to get. Like you, I lusted after the Tech 7 Enduro’s but could not justify the price at this point, especially with Motoz Rallz’s in my sights… Waffled, wondered, worried, went down the I-Net rabbit hole, and ya know what? That you went with the Tech 3 Enduro’s made up my mind for me. I like your honest approach and sensible recommendations. Just a shame I’ll be riding north in April and will miss out meeting you at the Rally. Be safe! Cheers, RD
I'm glad the video helped you. We try our best to be honest with everything we review. I think you'll like them and they will serve you well. Have fun on your ride and maybe our paths will cross at some point. Thanks for watching and commenting. We truly appreciate it 👊
Nice looking boots. For my last two pairs of MX boots I broke them in by walking four miles. By the time I finished the boots were broken in enough to easily get under the clutch. - Frank
Thanks. That's what I usually do too but these might have to get broken in as we ride.
Man I am running the sidi adventure, Part leather and part plastic, I rode through rain etc on this last trip. To be honest, I dont know if my feet where wet from sweating in the heat or if I now have a leak, they are several years old and I am hoping it was sweat.I will let you know when I get back from michigan.
That plastic may well be replaceable too if it breaks since it has the screw attachment. SO hopefully they dont break, Mine are holding up. roughly 6 years old now..?
Looks like some great boots brother. I appreaciet you taking the time to share them with us.
I totally agree with you on the protection.
Brother you did a great job on this initial review video, nicely done sir, you covered all the key points and I agree, better protection.
Keep up the great work
dale
Thanks. Hopefully the hold up for the long term. Riding in them the past weekend I can already tell I like them a lot.
@@TheBeardedGrump OK, so you guys know, My wife and I are going to go eat crawfish sunday afternoon hahaha.
Great video. Thanks. Ive ordered a Forma Ice Pro Flow Boots (Black White Fluro Yellow) for my riding needs. Alpinestars is too costly in India so had to go for Forma. I was wondering the same thing to order an Adventure boot but I chose Racing one. LOL. Will make a video just like urs and will give u a good credit. Many thanks.
Thanks and thanks for watching. I think you'll be happy with your choice.
@@TheBeardedGrump Many thanks. Appreciate it.
Wow, I could have made this video ...
except that I don't have a camera, have no idea how to edit or focus or whatever.
I can point a camera, I'm good at pointing.
Beyond that ... forget it.
Any way ...
I bought my black AlpineStar Tech 3s last week for the same EXACT reasons Mr. Grump did.
I shopped online for a bit and went to Cycle Gear last week.
I tried on four different brands and six different models and the clear winner was the Tech 3.
My riding needs are similar to yours and to save me a lot of typing ...
If the latches break, just order new ones. The center soul wears out, buy a new soul or send boots back for refit.
Thanks for the reaffirmation TBG!

They are great boots and have been holding up great. Maybe I'll do a long term review at some point. Timmy has been using the tech 7 maybe we'll review them too. Thanks for watching and commenting. We really appreciate it.
I decided to go MX boots for my "adventure" riding on an upcoming dual-sport. I'm just paranoid and figure I'd rather risk wetter feet than a higher chance of broken ankle. The 3s felt great on my feet and took 'am home from store, but ordered the 5s (both still returnable) to compare at home just to see. Not sure if they're more protective or not. Maybe no way to know. Walking around a little in the 3s wasn't nearly as clumsy as I thought it would be. I expect on longer rides where I want to walk around more at stops, I'll just grab a pair of sneakers from a bag. Was worried about finding shifter, then I remembered that on our bicycles, we ride cleats, and within a couple of hours your muscle memory gets so good you can just step on a pedal and get the cleat exactly aligned and clipped in like magic. I expect much of the "break in" for finding the levers is breaking in the rider's brain. At least I hope!.
Definitely a good decision getting the mx boots. If you don't mind spending more money you can get tech 7 drystar and have great protection and dry feet. Once you wear the boots for a few rides you'll be used to them. Walking around in them isn't much different than any other boots. I've been mine for 10 hour days and it isn't a problem. I'm sure you will be happy with them. Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate it
How are u enjoying the boots now. I just got the same boot as yours just waited when my shop finally put them on sale. i saw the Apstar tech 3 enduro only difference is the soles and price but there werent on sale. Did u wished u had more grip on ur soles for the advemture riding u do and did u had any issues of slippage when putting ur foot down on street roads?
I like the boots a lot. I haven't had any issues with grip on any service I ride and I ride all different types of terrain. The only problem I've had is that I put them too close to a camp fire to dry them and burnt the tops of both boots lol. I repaired them and still wear them. They have been great boots for the money.
@@TheBeardedGrump thank u for the feedback
@@markto3606 no problem. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. 👊
thx for the vid. i just got these boots last week for the same reason as you. the only problem i have with them is that my left boot makes a pop sound every step i take a step. called the dealer about it and they say its normal. do you're boots do the same ?
No problem. I use silicone lubricant on the boot hinge from time to time and it helps with the noise.
cool thx. i will try that👍🏻
@@matthieudangerous no problem 👊
Jist ordered mine before seeing this video. 👍. Sorry about the swamp a$$...
They have been working great. Well besides me putting them to close to the camp fire on our Smokey Mountain 500 trip a few weeks ago and burning the top of them 😳😂. I think you'll like them. I'm used to swamp ass around here 😂🤣
What is that yellow light in your speedometer?
It's the abs light. I have the fuse pulled to disable it so the light stays on.
@@TheBeardedGrump kinda figured that was why it was on my strom is non abs so i don't have that light
@@hoagiesherlin7732 I've had it disabled every since I've owned it. Didn't like the feel of abs at all
I have a pair of T3’s I use for trail riding on my off road bike. I’d consider using them for my adventure rides also. Except one concern, they aren’t waterproof. I rode through terrain where there were parts of trail filled with water. I wasn’t trying to get my feet wet, and still my socks were soaked after the ride.
I would think waterproof boots would be pretty tough in hot weather too. I bet your feet would sweat a lot.
@@TheBeardedGrump Good point. I need to learn how to shift with my T3’s then decide if I’m buying a different boot
@@ernestoluzan these have been pretty good boots. They get a little squeaky on the hinge but silicone spray fixes it. I had to adjust my shifter up some so the mx boot would fit under it better.
@@TheBeardedGrump yea I just got a new triumph,it’s got a quick shifter, so I’m not sure If it’s as simple as just a adjustment
@@ernestoluzan yeah I know nothing about quick shifters. Hopefully you'll get it figured out cause I truly believe in wearing mx style boots on an adventure motorcycle. I'm sure you'll get it all figured out. Enjoy that new bike
...there is a waterproof version of teck 3 but are little bit expensive than the classic version...
I don't think they make the drystar (waterproof) version in the tech 3. You have to jump up to the tech 7. I wear tech 7 now but the motocross version not the drystar. I liked the tech 3 and they served me well but the tech 7 offers a little bit more protection and they are a little more comfortable.
yes...there is an waterproof version of tech 3(with white sole ... Alpinestars Tech 3 Enduro Waterproof Boots Black-White) ... but aren't drystar...comparing with teck 7, how is the feeling when you shift/ brake? ... at the moment i wear Gaerne SG12, but i don't have full control of the brake pedal and difficult for shifting even after 3 years of wearing ... use them only on enduro bike ...no chance to take them on the long trip adventure ride ... planning for long trips and i dont know what to choose teck 3 WP enduro or teck 7 enduro ...any advise please? ... thx ... @@TheBeardedGrump
@@fun2rideadventure I don't have any issues shifting are braking with the tech 7. They aren't as stiff as the SG12. They are really comfortable boots and I worn them on a lot of longer trips and never had an issue. They offer a little more protection over the tech 3 and they are more comfortable because they have better padding.
super!... thank you for the info ... Wishing you a speedy recovery!!!@@TheBeardedGrump
