I can't wait to put these boots back on my feet and ride again! The new bike search continues!! Alpinestars Tech 3 first impressions video ua-cam.com/video/mxs6Owyk3uY/v-deo.html
Great information. Just stepped up from Tech-5 to a new pair of Tech-7 Drystar enduro boots. I started off with the Tech-3 and used them for 3 years then moved up to Tech-5. Love them all.
Awesome vid, nailed the into 🤘🏽 I just ordered the 3’s cause I don’t currently have a riding boot haha 😅 I was looking at adv boots but your video helped make my mind on motocross boots. Much better protection. Subscribed and liked 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thanks! In my opinion you could buy the cheapest motocross boots and they would offer better protection than the most expensive adv boots. I think you like the tech 3. I'm glad the video helped. Thanks for liking and subscribing. I really appreciate it 👊
Hi Greg, Ive been wearing ADV boots and went down on the street last year and the bike bounced off my leg. They kept me from getting a broken leg but man was my leg bruised with a hematoma the size of my palm. I tried on some motorcross boots but i dont know how you guys shift gears in those boots.
Sorry to hear that. I hope you're doing well now and I'm glad you didn't break your leg. I adjusted my shifter up and once you get used to shifting with stiffer boots you really just do it without thinking about it.
So question for you on the t7. How are they traction wise walking around? I just got a pair 150+ cheaper then the basic t7 enduro. Thanks in advabce and hope you get bacj on 2 wheels soon
I had ADV boots and never felt safe in them. Riding confidence went up when I switched to tech 7's because I felt safer and the stiffer sole reduces fatigue a lot when standing. Surprised how comfortable the tech 7's are to walk in too. Josh from Aus Moto broke his foot wearing tech 3's, they seem to have a lot more flex.
It definitely makes me feel better knowing I have more protection for my lower leg and feet. The tech 3 definitely has more flex than the 7. Thanks for watching man. I hope you are doing well. 👊
@TheBeardedGrump update.....just got my tec 7s in and holy crap they are comfy. Like right out the box 📦...I have a wide foot that measures at exactly 11 inches length . Bout the size 10 boot and it fits like a glove. I'm a powerlifter with 19inch calves and they fit perfect
I wear adv boots and I feel safe in them for what I do…my only reason to ride down gravel and dirt roads is to find nice camping spots, and I don’t do any crazy stuff like you two. There’s always a trade off between comfort, safety, and $$$
I would stay on dirt if there was a way to get everywhere I wanted to go lol. The tech 7 is the best I've found that is a good compromise between comfort, safety and money.
Great information. Well done. I'm with you, good mx boots are the way to go. I've seen way too many lower leg injuries from users picking 'walking comfort' over crash protection. Probability vs consequence equation. The probability is high, and the consequences are even higher......I'll get as much protection as I can, every time. No brainer. Too many guys (mostly new comers or road guys) are fooled by the gimmicky adv boots, then have 300-400 wrapped up in the brown adv boots before they realize they should have went a different direction. I wear the mx boots for 1/10000 chance the bike lands on my leg in a wreck. Some guys value walking comfort over everything. I value not having to have leg surgery. To each their own.
Tech 7s are great boots at a decent price. I had another brand that cost a bit more but these seem to be more comfortable and fit my calves better. The others were a bit tight. I have always had bigger muscular legs and boots would fit perfect everywhere...but at the top. These are a better fit for me. It doesn't matter if you give 300 or 800 for boots. If theyre not comfortable then you wont be happy with them
I also wear use the Tech 7's. I think the lower leg is the number one injured spot. The boots squeak for safety... they let the critters know where you are when you're using the restroom in the woods.
Great info on how to deal with the squeakiness in the boots. Also soglad to see you moving around pretty well after your crash! Can't wait to see you ride again man.
As long as you lube them up about every other ride then they stay pretty much squeak free. It feels good to be moving around a little easier. Thanks man. I can't wait to ride
@@TheBeardedGrump on my search for MX boots most of the Riders mention that these boots offer the best protection and durability. yes, they are expensive but protection is more important at least is what I think.
They just don't offer enough protection. You can get a Tech 7 Enduro drystar which has a grippy sole and waterproof and has great protection. Protection is the most important thing
I wear hwk over the boot pants and they fit fine. My brother wears hwk and Thor over the boot pants and they fit fine. I know a few people that wear MSR and Klim OTB pants with tech 7 and they fit fine.
@TheBeardedGrump I thought about doing that with my transalp but I can shorten the shifter rod beneath the quick shifter. I still think it might be too short and I can't find anything aftermarket

Thanks. You really can't go wrong with any of the Alpinestars. 👊
Thank you for the video. I have been looking into boots all day trying to find the right one for myself.
No problem. Thanks for watching. 👊
Tech 3s smell like a candle when burning. I never thought I would learn that! - Frank
It smelt like money burning to me 😂
That's probably PE used in there somewhere, there is paraffine in PE, and that is what gives candles their smell.

thx

Good info Greg. MX boots are the way to go for off road riding!
Thanks Doc! 👊
I love my Tech 7s, wish they were a little more waterproof
I wish they were more waterproof as well

Just ordered myself a pair of tech 7, was able to snag them new for 230€!!

I have never had an issue with traction with the motocross T7 when it comes to walking. Thanks. 👊

Congrats on the intro Greg! Those who have never made a video have no idea how frustrating it is to redo an intro over and over! - Frank
Thanks lol. Sometimes they flow right out and sometimes I stubble on every single word 😂
Good video man! Keep up the good work. Solid setup👍🏻
Thanks! 👊
sucks i really wanted the toucans, they look great have vortex and are super comfy but don't offer that much protection so ima go with the teck 7s
Yeah the adventure boots look good but they are like wearing work boots. The tech 7 offers way more protection

@@grimdavis58 awesome. I'm glad you like them.
I believe that your legs are safer in a $99 pair of MX boots, than a $399 pair of ADV Boots. - Frank
I completely agree

I believe you're right. The lower leg is at high risk for injury. The squeaking can be annoying but nothing a little lube won't fix 😂

the tech 7 are good the last model of f o x instinct are comfortable but the best boots are GAERNE SG12.
The SG12s are good but they are expensive. A little less comfortable when walking in my opinion but they are definitely nice boots
@@TheBeardedGrump on my search for MX boots most of the Riders mention that these boots offer the best protection and durability.

The enduro boots have a grippier sole which helps when pushing the ADV bike in dirt and mud when needed and also are waterproof.
They just don't offer enough protection. You can get a Tech 7 Enduro drystar which has a grippy sole and waterproof and has great protection. Protection is the most important thing

Do you wear these shoes even when you are only riding pavement ?
Yes but I hardly ever just ride pavement
Do you find the calf opening bigger on one boot or other?
I can't tell much of a difference in the opening on either one. I will say that the tech 7 has a better overall fit.
Great review, looking forward to seeing more videos
Thanks Terry. 👊
Can't wear over the boot pants with tech 7s so if it's raining what then?
I wear hwk over the boot pants and they fit fine. My brother wears hwk and Thor over the boot pants and they fit fine. I know a few people that wear MSR and Klim OTB pants with tech 7 and they fit fine.
I'm not sure who told you that, but they're wrong. Klim Marrakesh and HWK pants, Resurgence and Klim riding jeans all fit over my Tech 7 Enduros.
Love the energy Greg!
👊
How do you shift wearing these?
Just like normal. On my V-strom 1000 I moved my shift lever up one spline so I would have more room for my boot to fit under it.
@TheBeardedGrump I thought about doing that with my transalp but I can shorten the shifter rod beneath the quick shifter. I still think it might be too short and I can't find anything aftermarket
@@Sventy11I wish I could help you but I'm not familiar with that bike.
