it sucks because although taichi has always been there for chihaya and although he's had the most development and growth as a character, everything he does is for chihaya and taichi leaving the karuta club will ultimately better him because he'll learn to find his own meaning in the things he does--or more specifically--learn to love and appreciate karuta even more without chihaya as his primary reason/motivation
i think it makes a lot of sense for chihaya and arata to end up getting into a relationship because their purposes align more (although at this point i just want to see the trio come back and kick ass as a team)

He’s the childhood friend (Arata’s late entry and long absence disqualify him for that position), so he was at a disadvantage. Though I honestly thought she’d go with Taichi, it looks like Arata’s the favorite in both karata and love.

Seriously, in real life never pair two hyper-competitive players of the same sport/profession as a romantic couple. People's form vary over time and professional jealousy will poison the relationship. Better for Taichi to be the breadwinner and support Chihaya's karuta career.

the reason i like taichi and that hes my fav character is because he works so hard to win. chihaya almost always wins and its boring to watch her win again without much struggle. arata hes already a pro so even more boring. taichi works so hard but in the end it mostly fails which is sad

I love Arata & Chihaya so much. But the anime cut so many important scenes of Arata. Especially his grief over the granpa, his concern about karuta and Chihaya.
I understand how between Chihaya and Arata it’s like fated love, but I feel bad for Taichi who’s loved her longer and deeper and stuck with her, even playing karuta because of her and always supporting her. I only know the anime and I wonder how it was in the manga…

Vincent Cruz Taichi wasn't always there for her they lost touch after elementary school and reunited as teenagers , Chihaya just isn't one of those people who are smart when it comes to romance. Besides she can't help how she feels and if I'm honest I think Arata is the better choice Taichi has always acted like she was more of a possession then a person that type of relationship would be toxic. Plus Arata evens Chiyha out better and the chemistry was always there between them.

There is dense and there is not knowing. Taichi never voiced his feelings at this point - if she has no context, she cannot interprete his actions as that of his love. When he did confess, it was to hurt her with sth he knew she loved which was the sport. Yes Arata is there. But if Taichi wants to confess, he shouldn't bring Arata into the equation - it should be about what is between him and Chihaya. Bringing in Arata means he is comparing, and by comparing he has let Chihaya remember that Arata is there. Which is not what you want to do when you want a girl to think only of you.

But in Taichi case since he is with her almost everyday and has alot of memories with her, he is afraid he will lose chihaya if things don't work after telling her how he feel

this scene is memorable isn't it? 😭 i'm rooting for arata but if you read the manga (continuing s3 ending), taichi's situation from the start is actually very painful, like i actually sobbed for a good minute for taichi.
but personally, i think if you read the manga up to the newest chapter and you still care about who ends up with who or even complaining about the lack of taichi in the latest chapters (heck, even lack of arata's in earlier chapters) then you should reread the manga again 🤧

So basically, it’s okay for Taichi to friendzone Sumire and casually step on her ex-girlfriend’s feelings but not cool for clueless Chihaya to friendzone Taichi despite not knowing Taichi loves her in the first place because Taichi couldn’t muster the courage to tell her.

I think Taichi's character was never about getting the girl, in my opinion he's character was about self growth and learning to love karuta, not just as a way to get closer to Chihaya but loving the game, the cards, the culture and the poems itself. As we all know, the story and its character revolves around karuta, its not about the romance, I think thats just a side genre to attract fans I guess😊. Chihaya grows as a character through karuta and she loves the game and the world that surrounds it. And for Aratavs character, I think its about leaving his grandpa's shadow and really play the game he and his grandpa loves in his own style.(Also my opinion😊)
Chihaya and Arata both love the game genuinely and play for themselves, never for others. But Taichi's case is different, he didn't love karuta, I also actually thought he hated it because it is the connection that keeps Chihaya and Arata together. And I think he played it not for himself but for Chihaya and get closer to Chihaya.
And love is a very complicated thing. It hurts, heals and give us joy at the same time. I really relate to Taichi, loving someone who doesn't feel the same way. But it doesn't mean that that person has and needs to reciprocate that love just because he deserves it. That's not love, that is force and its never good to force someone's feelings. So that's all I want to say😊.
Please no hate. I really love Taichi but I also love Chihaya and Arata. They all have deserve happiness. All of them does.
