Dang this is impressive. Can’t stand the noise of whatever is screwing and unscrewing the drawbar though lol. I really want to make an automatic pull-stud drawbar at some point. Not sure how to incorporate it into my green Chinese bt30 spindle though.

Those bolts are not designed for permanent screwing. you are using the regular shaped thread for the screw action. usually you have sawtooth shaped threads for permanent use, which is the shape of the other side of those bolts. you might get trouble with the bolt in the spindle soon.
I wouldn't trust a probe system to get "screwed"...That's a very nice arrangement you have and I bet it's more reliable than the chinese ATC spindles it still can go very wrong.
Hello Eneias Eringer! Sorry for my bad english :D. Cam you give me some infomation on how you stop the spindle at position (dogdriver alway fit the tool). Thanks!
hello !!! i have a encoder attached on spindle !!! and i make the orientation by read the encoder position with variables on linux cnc ... I linked the encoder position sig to a analog in on linux cnc , so i read the analog in by 0.01 sec , when in position i put m5 !! here is my program to orient the spindle : osub (AXIS,hide) #=#1(DESIRE ANGLE ON #1) m66e0l0 (READ THE POSITION OF ENCODER) #=[#5399] #=0 (COUNTER FOR AN ERROR) oif[#lt#] s30m3 (TURN ON SPINDLE AT 30RPM) o1while[#lt# xor #eq1000] g4p0.001(WAIT 0.001 SECONDS) m66e0l0 (READ THE POSITION OF ENCODER) #=[#5399] #=[#+1] o1endwhile m5 oelse s30m4 #=0 o2while[#gt# xor #eq1000] g4p0.001 m66e0l0 #=[#5399-0.8] #=[#+1] o2endwhile m5 oendif g4p0.1 (AXIS,show) oendsub
what type of vfd drive are you using? is this a synchronous servo spindle or a simple induction motor spindle? because i can see the spindle aligning to the dogs on the tool holder.. thank you
Yes it is a simple Induction motor with a simple inverter ...I have a encoder , and i make a subprogram to turn the spindle at low rpm and stop the spindle when arrive at the position desired
the idea of slowing the motor and then stopping is good. but the vdf cannot stop the motor suddenly as far as i know, does the vfd take step and dir signals or simple analog? thank you for replying.
@@ENEIAS1986 seems like you are a very lucky guy, I would need to invest 3000+ to get a infrared spindle and tool probe. Difficult decision :/ Thank you for uploading this video, inspired me :)
You can re-map the M6 command to call your O routine, so that the G-code looks conventional. (ie T3 M6) The screw drawbar seems to be working pretty well, but you could consider a spring / pull-stud arrangement. I made one for my mill and it has been extremely satisfactory. ua-cam.com/video/pxrzJ_KfcQ0/v-deo.html (though I have never got round to making the automatic toolchanger to go with it, so you have me beaten there)
Again, I have to repeat the comment... You sir, are a true craftsman.
Thank you Very Much!!!!!!!!!
Parabéns pelo trabalho !!! muito bom mesmo !!!
Muito Obrigado!!!
All of that and you don't have a chip tray or enclosure. However, well done. Good job.
gus bisbal lol!!!! thank you !!!

Amazing!
Any drawings, schematics, code sharing?
I would appreciate

Hoooooly crap! That's awesome work right there!
Can I haz? :D
que isso hem show de bola

Ficou SHOW. Somente a parte do linuxCNC!

Hello, how to contact you to get CAD model of this toolchanger?
Matou a pau. Isso que eu chamo de criativo.
Really amazing!

is simple analog, i put a variable with a know delay of position ....
NOW I GET IT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH
is the delay time reliable? does it always make the dogs align to the tool holder. how do you stop the spindle suddenly. do you use a brake?
Maybe they could skip the up/down and use the head's up/down?
Not Because the Pneumatic Wrench needs the quill up to get contact with the draw bar !!! Thankyou !!!!

So you used the B axis for your tool changer?
Yes!!!!
