@ We had words. They no longer wanted me in their lives also. So it worked out fine. If I see one of them in a store I just walk by and say nothing. I feel great! It’s been 3 yrs now.
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen from anyone ever, seriously! We’ve been working on many of these points for a while but wish we’d realized how important this stuff is when we were a lot younger. Prioritizing ourselves isn’t in the least selfish - we’ve actually been able to reach out to help many people in our lives in different ways because we can empathize with how they feel. What’s really important to us is how we make other people feel. If we think about it, that’s our legacy rather than any riches we could ever accrue. Thank you for making this video!

Great reminders! I am a procrastinator (I leave the least desirable tasks for very last.), but I make sure they get done by a deadline. I for the most part, have healthy eating down, but I don’t exercise. At age 60, I’ve decided to stop my part time tutoring job, to be able to get into a daily exercise routine. Thank you for making the walking video. My health is more important than the extra money I’m making.

Hi Cathy, Nice red top. Great topic. It has taken me many, many years to say "no." My only child, a daughter is almost 47 yrs. old. She was diagnosed as bipolar as a young teen. I wouldn't even begin to explain what we have been through with her. I want a relationship with her but she has to accept that I am no longer able to give after years of disrespect and demands. She did give me those 2 wonderful Grandsons who live with their Dads. Have a great week! Carol

Women tend to "apologize" too often....a bad habit and I had heard that advice years ago, so I catch myself before saying it. As you indicated, there are times when one does need to say "I am sorry."

Number 4, that used to be me. It was my way of keeping the peace and it made me miserable and was ineffective!! Done with that! This is such a great video and a good reminder to monitor where we are putting our focus. I like the idea of challenging ourselves to conquer fears. Mine is claustrophobia. Going to work on that like you did on the bridge. Procrastinating used to be a way of avoidance, but when I stopped, it was truly liberating! Number 15...so true!!! A wealth of good advice, thank you. I used to tell my son when he was young and wondered why we didn’t have holidays etc. that it is what we own, not what we owe. He still repeats that to me, in his mid-30s.

I told my husband to stop saying “it’s ok”when someone has said or done something that’s not right.
Sometimes it’s really not ok, and you need to say something.
I deal with comparisons too.
What helps me when I start to compare myself, is that I immediately start to be thankful for what I have, and gain inspiration when I see other people succeeding.
I want to genuinely be happy for them, and I am.❤

I really dont care much about what people think about me. I try to be cheerful most of the time buy sometimes you just have to vent.
When walking its better to pick up the pace than a slow stroll. You can slow down at home.
We moved to get rid of all the toxic people we were related to. And some other people. We have always kept promises we have given our grandkids. There parents don’t do it. But we do. If we can’t we don’t make the promise. I don’t compare myself to others. I stopped that a long time ago. And I don’t care what others think. I’m sure I still carry grudges. But I don’t see any of those people. So I have forgotten some of them.i realize I do complain when we have gloomy weather. I have never blamed others. My oldest daughter has always played the victim. And that makes me so mad. I was never a procrastinator. But my husband is. And now I think I’m worse than he is. I get mad at myself for not doing things I should be doing. I do pay attention to my health. I had a lot of problems over ten years ago. And I ignored things back then. I do way better now. This was a great video to watch. These are all great tips to just be a better person. I think the older you get, the less you care what others think about you. And you don’t really bother with other people. And we are all better off that way.

Ah the health thing. I noticed a breast lump. Probably a cyst. My sister has had 2 drained and there is zero breast cancer in my family. I put it off. Other stuff to worry about, inconvenient time, etc (procrastination too). It wasn’t a cyst. I opted for a double mastectomy and margins were clear, but one lymph node was positive. Had I not waited would we have got it before it made it into the lymph system. I’m 2.5 years out doing great and had an easy time with surgery and radiation (low onco score-no chemo). But it’s there in the lymph system and I worry that “round and round it goes, where it stops, nobody knows.” Will I be so lucky, will I even know if it goes to brain or spine or somewhere else before it’s too late. I don’t dwell on it, but it does have space in my brain. And it was all probably avoidable.
I'm so sorry! I can relate to what you said about it having space in your brain, that's how I feel with my husbands cancer; it's always just there. I am glad that you are doing well now.
@@stylewithcathyover50 Nah, don’t be sorry. It does change you, if you’re lucky in a lot of good ways. Patience, stronger relationships, letting the unimportant stuff go. Tomorrow is never promised so I’m living my best life and looking good 👍. And I think you may relate to that as well. Been on both sides and definitely harder for the person without cancer.
Well I'm trying to get rid of this lady that wants to walk with me and she's starting to get on my nerves she wants to talk about her family and I don't really feel like hearing about family squabbles I just want to walk and get my exercise but all she wants to do is talk about her family and how her family treats her I'm getting ready to tell her no I don't want to walk with you anymore because you are too negative. She's gotten on my last nerve. I agree with you get rid of toxic people because I think this lady is very toxic to me. Great tips cathy, ♥️
