On sick week we had a 7 second goal in this radical gtr . Well after going 8.12 we lost an engine . so in this episode we wo tear the engine down and find the problem.
Super interesting how these engines come out and are put together ! No wonder there are guys that make 3000hp .

Strange Brew was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. In middle school we had to learn about hockey during PE class. We played in the gym in our socks. I would run around yelling the hoser yell. LOL I live in Texas and have my whole life. I haven't play hockey since. lol

As a Parts guy for Nissan, the #1 cylinder is Driver side front for Japanese RHD cars. Also correct in saying the piston that is farthest forward is #1.
I loved the ending with the Bob and Doug McKenzie brothers. I drank many boxes of them there Canadian beer. At one time you got a free t-shirt in a 18 box of beer. They all said Canadian on them. Ya I'm a little bit older than Brent. Trevor would know what I'm talking about. This video is awesome. It's great to see everyone working together and having a kilometer of fun in a millimeter of room with a liter of oil on the floor. 😅 I can't wait for the next video now.

Definitely something wrong with the injecter harness. If it’s not on fueltech it needs to be. At least then you can test each injector and number accordingly. Of will sort it. Brent’s the man. ❤❤❤
Yea, I definitely think being the injector wires were crossed with 2 and 3 that hole #2 just got tons of extra fuel and just got washed out clean then #3 leaned out and melted for sure.
We can definitely tell this was a really good time in the shop, maaan!!🔥🔥💪🏼🤣
Yup and they were monitoring the AFRs on that bank and saw lean conditions so they kept feeding the other two cylinders fuel until it was no longer lean. Bad wiring is a tuner's worst nightmare!

Got some great elbow grease to pull apart a horsepower machine. Tear down looks good, just maintains parts not rebuilding parts. Fingers crossed to see 7's again.
I'm amazed that injector harness' don't get mixed up more often.

When you get there Hosehead, it's all the free beer and sausages you can eat.
Maybe the injectors were reversed and you seen your running lean on the one cylinder which melted kept adding fuel to the one you thought was the right cylinder meanwhile it's washing out that other piston and cleaning it with too much fuel? There's definitely something wrong with the wiring

Yeah looks that way.. brent will definitely know once he checks wiring to the references on the laptop. Lesson never use pigtails for injectors. Pin them properly

The notch on the bottom of the piston is for the Nissan oil squirters.

Yep, Nissan V6 life. Those two timing chain cover bolts are accessible by removing the lower oil pan. Same design on all Nissan V6 engines.

It looks like the secondary injector on cylinder 2 wasn't firing and cylinder 3 was running super rich but I would check that the injectors are all wired correctly before you put it all back together for sure. I expected the hole but not the collapse, I have never seen a piston do that before. Maybe that can be called the Canadian failure. lol
I agree. Also confirm the firing order. I once witnessed a motor run with the firing order reversed. A carburetor would be less invasive, but the injectors firing at the wrong times would produce such results. Ask your self: If I wanted to wash down one cylinder with fuel and melt another one, How Could I go about it? In fact you could reproduce it on purpose if you wanted. thus You prolly know what needs fixed. I can think of three ways: Mechanical timing (Cams), electrical (timing fuel) and ignitions timing. and or a combination there of. I'd start with a degree wheel. and work fwd from there.

Look those 4 Banger Honda's are the best as far as 4 Banger's go.. But it's been really nice to see these guy's jump up to a bigger displacement. Also just to see them messing with Nissan's.. I was always surprised that they never worked on or Tuned any Infinity's or 370Z's as popular as they have been over the years too...

When you guys were at the old shop and Kyle was bringing his car there for the dyno and when he put the cage in the hatch!!! Absolutely love your positivity and love for the car game!!!
Found the problem indeed holy crap! Such a complicated looking engine. The VR38DETT does not look very intuitive to work on, but thankfully it is in good hands.
The incorrect cylinder 3 which was washed was being compensated by the ecu when it thought it was to hot or lean on the pass trying to balance the o2s coming out the back , I'd say cylinder 2 injector has been dieing slowly and the ecu if it was pinned correctly would have done its job .
Just imagine. This engine was built in a hermetically sealed room. That is climate/moisture controlled. And Brent will have it better then factory 😂. 🤙. U guys are legends 👊

Motor will never work in a fuel car! That piston is a one off. Good for a raffle. Oh an toss that injector harness, please. Time to work your magic guys. :)
