- A quick walk around the area of Las Piramides hotel showing its location & nearby bars/restaurants.
Watch to the end to see actual footage taken at 230am of a popular shortcut /cut-through popular with clubbers, tourists etc making their way ftom the Veronicas area back to their hotels. This needs to be avoided as it’s an area frequented by various local ‘workers’ & their associates!

Hi Mandy - thanks for watching - Piramides is pretty much ok - never had any problems. Ive got a seperate video about Piramides itself if youve not already seen it. Nearby Veronicas strip of bars isnt as bad as some make out either - just stick together with your mates & you’ll have a fab time! October is a great time to go!

I stayed at Las Piramides when I went in December 2019 with some friends, who booked it, and used the Santander bank near by, I did find this shortcut on my own, great video

Was ok Kevin until i got 1/2 way up & it became apparent there were a few local ladies carrying out their ‘work’ in the bushes to the right!
On a serious note, if it saves just 1 person from using the path at night & having something bad happening, then its worthwhile 👍

Not going through dark lanes late at night is a good piece of advice for anyone going anywhere in the world. That being said, mate that isn't even a lane, is a path rather wide, except for the trees on the sides there's a good range of visibility, it is also reasonably illuminated and there are high end terraced houses on the sides, probably people coming in or out of the houses relatively often.
Frankly, I don't see anything scary in that path, but well I guess you needed a little adventure to comment back in Bournemouth.
Although I must admit that we locals may look scary at first sight I assure you we have left our human meat consumption and head reducing habits long ago. But yes there aren't many locals living in that area I guess. Enjoy your stay in Tenerife.
Thanks Jonay - fully agree. The path itself is fine, albeit a little dark & secluded in parts. The sketchy bit is near the top as there is some ‘business’ going on amongst the trees to the right as you hit the top.
TBH, i’ve never had any issues with the locals in Las Americas - touch wood. A lot of the problems arise from the tourists who get totally blotto & then wonder why they lose their phones or get pickpocketed.
Anywhere in Croatia you can walk alone in the dark. No problem 😊

I was staying at the las piramides in December and some lad about 18-20 got jumped right near the hotel some women loured him over and three men jumped out of no where it’s dangerous on a night and this video hopefully will spread awareness 🤞

Basically, if you can prove youre fully covid vaccinated or youve recovered from covid in last 6 months ( usually via showing nhs app) or youre under 12yrs old, you dont need to fill out a locator form. 🙂 . I didnt fill 1 out for my last trip in may.

Parc la paz is a fab area - great strip of music bars by hotel & theshops/beach etc all close by 😁
Very informative vlog thanks. I haven’t been there since the early 80’s - a row of bars/nightclubs and a few Spanish restaurants. It looks like a huge Britain from home now - fish and chips, kebabs, pseudo Irish bars and sports tv! Times change 🤔😳

What's wrong with Britain from home with much better weather? 100s of thousands of people a year want to move to Britain and thousands risk their lives in small rubber boats so we can't be all bad.

By the way people also risk their lives to get to the Canaries (Britain from home ?) on pateras, many don't survive.
I wish the Canaries a better future than the Veronicas strip.
The message was : Tenerife is not limited to the coast from los Cristianos to la Caleta and thank god if there is one...
A few paths like that about, more so back in 96 when I first went and stayed at the Andorra, before the Safari Centre etc was built. Imagine how many younger ones wouldn’t visit without places like Veronica’s, we were all young once, I loved it down there back in the day when Bobby’s and Busby’s were going strong.

@@COLSPLACE44 I know, not been out around there, in the general area yes like Leonardos etc but not Veronica’s Strip itself at night for years, don’t think it’s the same now I’ve not drank for 11 years 🤣, wouldn’t mind an hour in Soul Train but think I’m getting a bit old for Tramps though.

We visited the palms fish and chip shop they were excellent, I’m glad they get mentioned in UA-camrs vlogs as most fish shops I’ve known in Tenerife don’t seem to survive long
I stayed at the hotel in 1998. And the Rebecca apparments in 1999 and 2000. On my lads holidays. I loved the place ❤❤

Tramps & Leonardos are still there & seem to be doing ok although i did hear leonardos was up for sale.
Theres quite a few old Tenerife itv shows on here. I cringe watching them in case i pop up pissed in the background 😂

people have been getting robbed on these paths for more than 10 years when you get to the top of that lane and turn left theres another lane which is a shortcut to the oro blanco i used to used it and seen locals in the bushes ready to pounce, people were getting mugged every day i agree with you never use those lanes at night alone

You see so many young guys staggering up from veronicas & heading up these alleyways in pitch black. Scary stuff.
@@COLSPLACE44 it is scary i m surprised the police haven,t done anything about it when i used to go people were getting robbed every night and its the same crowd that scams people on the beachfront find the pea etc if i was in charge of the police i could arrest the lot in no time lol
They re not locals mate. They come from abroad to rob tourists in summer. Watch out.

Great info fella, for some reason i find my self going back to Floritas appartments every year, dont know why as they are only 2Key I beleive but just theirs somthing good about them, Ive stopped in the 5 Star Anthony Hotel and enjoyed my self better in Las Floritas 🤷♂️ crazy as it may sound 🙄
Not crazy at all Kris - i’ve stayed in Floritas & theyre fine. I think if somewhere fits your purpose & youre comfortable then thats cool. I booked an apartment in Floritas a gew years back that belonged to an Irish guy who was superb. We sat there drinking beers with him on the 1st afternoon! I lost his details otherwise i would deffo go back there!

Hi Col, I stepped back in I had previously watched this video & wanted to watch again scary. I reckonised most places from being on the island before a few times but of all things the football stadium does not ring a bell for me. I'm a Leeds united fan I would of been on it like a cat on a mouse. What's the team called that plays there. I was aware of bigger stadium in the north.
Stayed at that hotel about 6 yrs ago, it was horrible, did all inclusive and the alcohol was undrinkable. The room was dingy, light fitting over the cooker area was hanging off the ceiling and the recption was so dark i thought they had a power cut when we arrived. I asume its had a re furb since we were there, certainly needed it.
I have just arrived back from Tenerife, my fried was mugged at knife point in a cut through that came out opposite the Columbus hotel (apparently this had happened to multiple people in the same night by people that were waiting in the bushes). Also saw a couple of people getting mugged in the underground toilets on the Veronica’s strip. Be careful everyone x
Hey sorry to hear this - hope your mate is ok. This is an ongoing issue that the island authorities need to stamp out once & for all - especially if it is looking to go ‘up-market’.
In the meantime, the underlying message is to not make yourself vulnerable & keep away from these alleyways & dark areas at night. Easier said wjen youre tired & had a few but worth it in the end 👍👍

I live in Tenerife and I avoid all of Las Americas at night LOL, this pathway - plus a few others around there are not places you want to be alone after dark.
Great video I go to tenerife on 19th first time in 20 odd years,this video helped as a kinda guide my way around I wouldn't go near that path as I'm travelling solo so will keep to a taxi or walk where its more public 😎🥰
Hi Jacqueline - you’ll have a great time over there & yes as long as you keep to the more public places, you’ll be perfectly safe! For a good night out, check out my other video on La Paz strip - the music bars 👍
To be safe you may avoid drinking too much and going home at 2.30 AM, you may also avoid the whole area because Tenerife is definitely NOT the Veronicas strip, try visiting the island and not the british places and pubs.
People are friendly and charming, also try to utter a few basic words in spanish, say Holà and not Hi (which is american), gracias and not thank you, adios and not bye etc etc
Small efforts go a long way !
Hi Col. We've stayed in Piramides site a lot, and have no problems with it , it's in a good location., but don't use that short cut at night.

I have stayed 3 times at the Las Piramides Hotel, like you say, good value for lower end market the " ALL IN" food is good, lots of variety. The first time I was there, a London girl was robbed of her phone and jewelry and beaten up by some local girls in the early hours in the morning, you need to be street wise, stick to the well lit area's and stay safe!!
Agree with all that Paul. Its the younger guys who seem to land the trouble, especially after a few holiday beers. 👍

Bigup Col that path is one of the best cottaging spots on the island feller. Stay safe use protection!

Hi Laura - i didnt fill one out for this trip back in May & as I understand, rules are still same. If you are fully vaccinated then no locator form is needed.

Stayed here in 2008. Our first visit to the island. Bit of a shithole, but has all the basics you need as a base for your stay in Tenerife. Great location and fairly cheap. Would i stay again (probably not). Remember a fight kicking off in the pool and a lad running in reception with a bloodied nose🤦
I've travelled all over las America's at all hours on my own and I'm in a wheelchair. I have never came across anyone muggers thank god.

Hi Jay - as of last Monday, no. Having said that it can’t be far away because they were installing all the beer lines & fixtures/fittings last week & all the new furniture was being delivered 👍

Walked up and down there many times when I stayed in the hotel Orenigro! I would advise to stay away from any of the lanes in Tenerife to be honest! Las Americas certainly has a problem with undesirables and the authorities need to find a way to police the resort to make it safer. Its just getting worse. I will never go back there for certain!

Hi mate - in South Tenerife, the tourists consist mainly of British people all year round. There is also a very large British ex-pat population on the island as well - workers, retired people etc. Not sure on numbers but very large % of population are Brits. 👍
I use revolut card top it up with cash and use anywhere brilliant card

I dont think they have the dedicated 18-30 type things anymore with bar crawls etc. but the veronicas area & the hotels by it are definitely targetted to that age group. Theres still boat parties with djs etc as well 👍
@@COLSPLACE44 the first time I went,was just me and my mate. In 98. Then ,99 and 2000 , all in September I did the 20s holidays. Their rival was 18-30 holidays if I remember. We did a reunion in prestatyn Wales in November 99
Yea sounds like the best times. Mad thing is, that area still looks the same, still a bit ropey but its a big part of Tenerife culture, as much as some try to deny it

Would prefer to see where the “real” people of Tenerife live and play. Want to see artists, teachers, kids, pets, small, in-town restaurants and shops, side streets, docks, etc.
Hi - to see the real/natives/locals would be great. Would also take some research & discovery as they don’t all come across as the most open of people - although i may be wrong through my limited experience.
I’m happy to explore on my next trip & if the viewing figures justify it, why not? 😁
It's the worst hotel in Tenerife. I wouldn't stay there again even if it was free.

@@Jaya365 No - definitely no tents or anything. I think its just a convenient place for the nearby ‘night-time ladies’ to carry out their business with the drunk guys coming home from the bars.
The buildings either side of the path are all occupied & seem quite tidy etc.
When I go away it's nice to be away from England not go to England in the sun

Wish id of seen 2 months ago. But now i know after a 5 minute scuffle to keep my bag with 2 blokes and 3 hours in hospital to get my hand stitched up after knocking the ones teeth out. I can vouch guys, stay away from that area.

Good shout Mike - prevention is better than cure where possible do i always try not to get myself in a dodgy situ ( maybe except from when i’m filming at 230am 😆). Dodgy though cos if you defend yourself against a local & they come off worse, foreign policeman can literally be a law unto themselves!

Hi Pat - I don’t really do food vlogs however if its a decent venue or somewhere a bit quirky then I’ll do it. I’m a big tapas fan & also appreciate a real paella - not a tourist/hotel one. Next time i’m over I’ll cover a couple no probs!
