However, for women still comparing themselves to this shoot and feeling down, remember she had a team of PROFESSIONALS helping with makeup, hair, wardrobe, getting the perfect angles in natural light, and getting coached on how to pose for the perfects shots. Kudos to Kate for doing this, but it was still a team effort to make her look even more gorgeous than she already is.
I literally just deleted my Instagram account 5 minutes ago. I'm not overweight but ANY means, but it made me feel likewise, and the comparing myself to others' lifestyles and bodies was becoming so toxic. I must say for the first few minutes so far, it does feel freeing. I'm just done with social media.

Being that I've always been on the plump side, my daughter who is now a teenager came home.. and she said to me, Mom, your fat! I told her with a smile. It's not what you look like, it's what you do with your life. :) I'm pleasantly plump I told her, and I said calling me fat doesn't bother me at all. I have a close relationship with God and that's what matters in the end. She sat there, thought about what I said. and later came up to me that night and said Mom , I love you , can you give me a hug? I said, I love you too.

She may not see herself that way. It's all relative. She works with gorgeous people all day and in that industry you are picked apart. My favorite quote is "comparison is the thief of joy" because it's true in so many ways. Just because she is beautiful doesn't mean she isn't human with feelings! There's always going to be some one better off than you...and someone who wishes they had what you have.

She is warm and likeable and clearly intelligent, but having an incredibly wealthy, beautiful (young) woman talking about how hard it is to be ‘real’ is a bit disingenuous to put it mildly. Even on her worst day and ‘untouched’ in photos, she will still be considered stunning by the vast majority of people. The message is one I wholeheartedly approve of - every person should feel valued and beautiful, but being ‘untouched’ in a photo when you already fit into the top few percent of women who match what society deems to be truly beautiful doesn’t strike me as being very ‘brave’.

I understand the nice intention behind unretouched photo shoots, but when they're done by beautiful people with perfect skin, I don't really think it does anything to encourage people who are self-conscious and compare themselves to others. If anything, I think looking really beautiful in an untouched photo will make people who wouldn't look as good feel worse. Kate Upton is talking about how makeup artists were worried about a bruise on her leg when there are so many people in the world with bad acne, stretch marks, scars, discoloration, rashes, etc. How is seeing a gorgeous woman with near-perfect skin going to make most people in the world feel better about themselves? Having said that, I am not one of those people who is never satisfied. I realize kids today are comparing their actual faces and bodies to what people photoshop, essentially trying to obtain the impossible. But I also see the reasoning behind photoshopping imperfections. Everybody likes to see themselves look their best and photography is often about beauty and a perfect shot. I don't have an issue whether you want to photoshop pictures or not. What I do have a problem with is someone hiding their attempts to flaunt their natural beauty behind a "noble cause" that will produce more insecurities in the already insecure, not less.
Holly Noel maybe people need to promote self love more, and mental health- if you love yourself seeing someone filtered or not would have no effect on how you see yourself.
Just because you see all of these things in Kate Upton doesn't mean she sees them in herself. People are quick to point out what they dislike about themselves while other people notice attractive qualities in others first. She may look at that cover photo and cringe at all her flaws, while we see a beautiful girl who looks gorgeous as she is naturally. Beautiful people are allowed to be insecure too and they shouldn't have to apologize for it or pretend not to be because it might make someone else feel bad.

chiraine1 Pregnancy can cause permanent changes to the body such as stretch marks, loose skin, sagging breasts, diastasis recti etc. Even if you get back to the same weight, your appearance will never be the same pre-pregnancy. Some people don’t understand how hard pregnancies can be on the body. No amount of exercise can fix certain things.

But in regard to some of the things you mentioned, stretch marks are prevented by proper skincare, I know plenty of people without a single mark, diastasis recti isn't permanent, again proper excersise will put those muscles back in place. Obviously pregnancy changes you, but the things most women complain about are either preventable or fixible,but they'd rather complain about it then actually do something and than act jealous of other women who do do something about it and look the same after their pregnancies as before
chiraine1 Those creams you are referring to are gimmicks just like the anti-aging creams are. The people without a single stretch mark have great genetics. My mother was one of those people, she never used any of those creams and never got any stretch marks while there are those who use it throughout their entire pregnancy and end up with stretch marks. Of course diastasis recti can be fixed with exercise, it takes time however. Stretch marks, loose skin, sagging beasts (permanent changes to your anatomy) cannot be fixed. Those are the things that come with the territory of pregnancy. It’s hard to have a “perfect” body after pregnancy those that do are blessed with great genes (giving praise to the women without surgical enhancement as a cheat). As for gaining weight and keeping it on, I agree with you it should be something a person should be committed to losing however you must realize the average person doesn’t have a nutritionist, personal trainer, a baby sitter like these celebs do. It takes a average person a while to “snap back” if they do ever.

I’m 117lbs but when compared to Kate am colossal. Am I seriously meant to look at her and think she’s large? For a model? She’s tall but very slim. Has the narrow hips I’ve never managed to achieve at 5’7.
I’m 5’10”(same height as her), I weigh 150 and my rib cage is very visible and I still would be considered “plus size “ . At that height they want her to be 120-125 bc of her apple shape probably on the 120 side.

She may not see herself that way. It's all relative. She works with gorgeous people all day and in that industry you are picked apart. My favorite quote is "comparison is the thief of joy" because it's true in so many ways. Just because she is beautiful doesn't mean she isn't human with feelings! There's always going to be some one better off than you...and someone who wishes they had what you have.

She is warm and likeable and clearly intelligent, but having an incredibly wealthy, beautiful (young) woman talking about how hard it is to be ‘real’ is a bit disingenuous to put it mildly. Even on her worst day and ‘untouched’ in photos, she will still be considered stunning by the vast majority of people.
The message is one I wholeheartedly approve of - every person should feel valued and beautiful, but being ‘untouched’ in a photo when you already fit into the top few percent of women who match what society deems to be truly beautiful doesn’t strike me as being very ‘brave’.
Can we not criticize Kate please? It's not worth complaining about. Every woman deserves to be recognized as beautiful, wealthy or not. Status doesn't really matter.

I understand the nice intention behind unretouched photo shoots, but when they're done by beautiful people with perfect skin, I don't really think it does anything to encourage people who are self-conscious and compare themselves to others. If anything, I think looking really beautiful in an untouched photo will make people who wouldn't look as good feel worse. Kate Upton is talking about how makeup artists were worried about a bruise on her leg when there are so many people in the world with bad acne, stretch marks, scars, discoloration, rashes, etc. How is seeing a gorgeous woman with near-perfect skin going to make most people in the world feel better about themselves?
Having said that, I am not one of those people who is never satisfied. I realize kids today are comparing their actual faces and bodies to what people photoshop, essentially trying to obtain the impossible. But I also see the reasoning behind photoshopping imperfections. Everybody likes to see themselves look their best and photography is often about beauty and a perfect shot. I don't have an issue whether you want to photoshop pictures or not. What I do have a problem with is someone hiding their attempts to flaunt their natural beauty behind a "noble cause" that will produce more insecurities in the already insecure, not less.

Holly Noel maybe people need to promote self love more, and mental health- if you love yourself seeing someone filtered or not would have no effect on how you see yourself.
Just because you see all of these things in Kate Upton doesn't mean she sees them in herself. People are quick to point out what they dislike about themselves while other people notice attractive qualities in others first. She may look at that cover photo and cringe at all her flaws, while we see a beautiful girl who looks gorgeous as she is naturally. Beautiful people are allowed to be insecure too and they shouldn't have to apologize for it or pretend not to be because it might make someone else feel bad.

ok I'm so happy for her that she is blessed with a "model thick" body and she is beautiful a seems kind but I do get a little annoyed when I hear celebrities say I love my post baby body while they are wearing a bikini showing there tummy with no stretch marks and a flat stomach with no loose skin. I wanna see a celebrities with actual stretch marks talking about their confidence.
This woman had loose skin before she was pregnant, though. She's used to it.
I was 32 DDD before breastfeeding my daughter and I lost ALL my boobs. I didn't know it could happen because I had always gained my weight in my boobs.
For those people who don't get it. It takes at least a year to get your body back.

Even if you get back to the same weight, your appearance will never be the same pre-pregnancy.
Some people don’t understand how hard pregnancies can be on the body.

But in regard to some of the things you mentioned, stretch marks are prevented by proper skincare, I know plenty of people without a single mark, diastasis recti isn't permanent, again proper excersise will put those muscles back in place. Took my cousin less than 3 months for her split to go from 4 fingers wide to only 1. Obviously pregnancy changes you, but the things most women complain about are either preventable or fixible,but they'd rather complain about it then actually do something and than act jealous of other women who do do something about it and look the same after their pregnancies as before
chiraine1 Those creams you are referring to are gimmicks just like the anti-aging creams are. The people without a single stretch mark have great genetics. My mother was one of those people, she never used any of those creams and never got any stretch marks while there are those who use it throughout their entire pregnancy and end up with stretch marks.
Of course diastasis recti can be fixed with exercise, it takes time however.
Stretch marks, loose skin, sagging beasts (permanent changes to your anatomy) cannot be fixed.
Those are the things that come with the territory of pregnancy.
It’s hard to have a “perfect” body after pregnancy those that do are blessed with great genes (giving praise to the women without surgical enhancement as a cheat).
As for gaining weight and keeping it on, I agree with you it should be something a person should be committed to losing however you must realize the average person doesn’t have a nutritionist, personal trainer, a baby sitter like these celebs do. It takes a average person a while to “snap back” if they do ever.

I’m 5’10”(same height as her), I weigh 150 and my rib cage is very visible and I still would be considered “plus size “ . At that height they want her to be 120-125 bc of her apple shape probably on the 120 side.
