This is solid work Dan. Great workmanship a pleasure watch and great time lapses.
Thank You so much for watching and for the nice comment!
Epic mate looking good can’t wait to see how it turns out 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👌🏼
You and me both! Thank you for watching!
lot of work but worth it,will look cool when done good look.
Thank you for watching! It is a fair amount of work but as you say, Hopefully it will all be worth it.
Looking good 🇬🇧😎👍
Thank you for watching!
Loving your work young man, want to buy a van now......
Thank you for watching!
I know the next vid is out but part of me wants this to be left, on the exterior, with a rat look. Would be awesome for it to still look like a builders van but with a sick interior.
Thank you for watching and for the comment! It would have made a cool daily but the plan is to sell and that may have been difficult as it was.
Good work Dan, enjoyed watching your vids so far. Very informative. Looking forwards to seeing the end result. Out of interest, where abouts in the country are you from? I have some family living near Lincoln and listening to you is like im listening to my bro-in-law speak... identical!
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching! I am from Leicester so not too far from Lincoln!
Use to run a T5 for my business and love them. Loving the videos on your project , just one question though. Why did you trim out the inside and lay the new floor before you painted the van?
He has done a cracking job value wise. I guess you learn as you go with a job of this depth. Interior colour doesn't matter too much once that refurbed interior goes on top,
See you point though
Thank You for watching and for the comment! I did the inside as I was waiting for the paint etc to be delivered and wanted to get on. none of the red paint on the inside is visible once all trims, carpet etc are on.
Cheers for the comment and watching! Yeah all is covered inside.
Great channel fella 👍 can you give me a link to your wheels please
Retro Chef I think he said they’re Amarok wheels, hope that helps.
Thank You for watching and for the comment! I got them from Tamar Wheels and they are 18x7.5 Amarok Steel Wheels with 225/45 Tyres!
Doth my cap - love watching your videos!
Thank you for watching! Really enjoying making them.
Hi, love these tutorials, what grit sand paper did you go over with on the van? I’m just about to do this method on a vw crafter mwb😅
Hi dude, Thank you! Glad you are enjoying them. I went with 400 grit I think.
Love seeing the van come together. Great doing the body work.😊👍
Thank you so much for watching! Pleased with how it is coming along!
Hi. Nice video what scotch bright pad did you use . Cheers
Thank you for watching and for the comment! I think they were brown ones that I got off ebay.
You should do amazon affiliate links to the kit you use...
I have been meaning to do this!
Intéressant
Thank you for watching!
Just found your channel,, I did my apprenticeship at Porsche many years ago and then main dealers, the had 2 garages myself.. I did this type of work back maybe 20 years ago, made some really good money, and friends along the way... Great video.
Thank you so much for watching and for the comment! I was a Mechanic when i left school for about 3 years then went into joinery as it was better money, worked my way up and eventually co owned a joinery company. Past few years i fell out of love with joinery and want to get back into something that really interests me. Hopefully this is the start of the new chapter of work.
So far really enjoying it. Just need to decide on what project to do next!
@@DanChambersDAC Great comment, I've found if you enjoy something you tend to stick doing it,, and along the way make some money.. Keep it up,, I think in my opinion you've great potential.. Look forward to the next video.
You like those irish imported vans :)
Thank You for watching! Gotta love them!
What's that supposed to mean??
Great work Dan, what disc do you use on the angle grinder? Ta.
Thank you for watching and for the comment! I used flap disc's. Like sandpaper. eats through everything!
Looks cool as anything stripped 👌 I don't know why 🤔
Thank you for watching! It is such a cool van, i would have driven it with the smashed back doors, rust and all. Idea is to sell it on when complete so really needed to sort all the bits out that i thought were cool!
good work. im turning a builders caddy into a wfp van its quite satisfing fixing all th ebroken stuff
Thank you for watching! Im considering doing a caddy at some point, do rally like them. Defo satisfying repairing broken stuff!
I have a combo van 2012 and it’s done 144 thousand miles the paintwork is really shiny because I look after my van more than any other van driver would but the big problem for me is all the dents on some panels and stone chips and on the rain gutter bits on the roof the paint is peeling in small places I was quoted £2995 a lot of VAT in that just to paint and sort the dents I might just do a test on the bonnet as it’s covered in stone chips and a small dent some clear coat then machine polish the paint and ceramic coating will surely give a decent shine for me
Thank You for watching! Why not! Give it a go! What is the worst that can happen? Everything can be ‘fixed’ if needed. At least if you have a go you will know you tried!
Great videos! I've just started the same on my 2009 T5 ex- builders van. What Primer and filler did you use on this? My bodywork is in much worse condition! Cheers
Thank you so much for watching and for the comment Ryan. Awesome bud! I want to do another one. I used U-Pol 2 pack filler and Halfords High Build primer. I would highly recommend buying U-Pol primer though. Just take it one panel at a time to repair it. I think I had about 5 day's in getting the body straight.
Dropping the height of the van makes it look like a ricer. Increase clearance make it more useable off the road!
Thank you so much for watching! Nah lifted look naff. This isn't low in the slightest!
Awesome as always dan love watching the progress of this great channel 🤙🏽 Keep it up
Appreciate it! Thank you so much for watching.
Looks good, might be a good idea to wet sand over the filler areas with 600 grit. What paint are you using?
Thank You for watching and for the advise. I am only using matt graffiti paint which is quite thick. I only sanded over with 600 grit dry, seems to have came out OK. i will be doing a 'proper' gloss paint job on a vehicle for the channel so will defo use this advise on that one!
Enjoying the video's Dan, and I've wanted a van for SO long but they're always priced out of reach. What do you reckon is the best model to get into? I'm an old air cooled guy, so I know nothing of the newer stuff (that you call old, LOL)
Thank you for watching! Being aircooled you must be handy on the tools. Something like this would be good. 2006 1.9TDI. Buy a rough van and build it yourself. Any other questions drop me a message.
Yep stay away from the 2.5 unless you really want the extra power, engine bits seems to cost double, ask me how I know ☹️
@@DanChambersDAC Yes, rebuilt loads of aircooled engines, some from spares, different cylinder pots even, so long as they sealed, they ran ok. I've got some old w123 Mercs now and a 9N Polo as the parts getter. Sorry I missed your reply, life happened :-D
Dan , how easy is it to get the wings off the T5 , need to paint one of mine , is it a front bumper off ?
Thank You for watching! Easy enough, unfortunately yes! Bumper off, headlights off then there are 3 Torx screws under the bonnet, 1 at the front bottom corner of the wing and 3 in the door shut (one hides behind the runner cable tidy) and one screw holding the arch liner in at the top of the wheel arch.
You’re a brave man! Certainly looks like you know what you’re doing! Can’t wait to see how the paint job come out 👊🏼
Thank you for watching. I make it look like i know! 'Fake it until you make it' 🤣 All will be revealed in the next episode.
Dan Chambers I hear you mate! Same thought process here 🤣
Thought why you put the back four in if your gonna paint it, must love the work load
Thank You for watching! I think you mean door? I put them on as i don’t have panel stand’s to hold the panels while i paint them. Fitting and painting seemed like the easiest option.
Just found your channel
Today. Awesome build 😎
Thank You for watching!
Dude your end screen isn't in there. Add it in yt studio. For the sub button and playlist.
Thank you for watching! Should be there. Watched it on another account and it was there 🤷♂️
@@DanChambersDAC That's weird... It wasn't there for me. (This is my youtube channel by the way). Who knows....
@@DanChambersDAC Just watched it again and it was there... That's strange.
Would love this in Black rolling on something chromey
Not a bad shout that... could be on a future build.... Thank you for watching.
What wheels are these mate?
Hi dan
Love the wheels what are they and did u need to modify them to fit them
VW Amarok Steels 18x7.5 ET45 5x120 direct fit.
what size the wheels?
Thank you for watching! Wheels are 18" Amarok Steels with 225/45 tyres
Cool car and nice work 👌🙋♂️
Thank you for watching and for the comment!
Looks pretty cool.
How reliable are these vans?
Thank you for watching! Pretty reliable as long as they are looked after. I have seen these engines with 3-400K+ on them as long as they are looked after. Some people say they are unreliable but people buy ex work vans with 200k on the clock, don't service or look after them and wonder why parts need replacing.
@@DanChambersDAC yeah ok cool.
When the next video up lad
How big are the tires?
Wheels are 18x7.5 Tyres are 225/45
You are doing a great job
Thank you for watching!
Great videos mate love them🙌
Glad you like them! Thank you for watching.
seems good to me 👌 cant wait for the next one 😁
Thank You for watching!!!
T5.1 front end?
Thank you for watching! Not on this one. love the pre facelift commercial look!
You need the patience of a saint to do that! Not something I have... great work, keep going!
Im surprised at how much patience i have had with this! Not really known for it!!!! Looking forward to seeing it all done! Thank you for watching.
👌
Good work Dan
Thank you for watching!
