Hey ya'll! Today on my channel we are reacting to some workers that got revenge on their bad bosses. Have you become antiwork? There's definitely a movement happening, where employees are finally starting to realize that they have the power. Enjoy ;)

It was really off putting.. it was just a weird corporate sponging vibe..

I was in the ER with internal bleeding and my boss phoned me to see if I could 'wrap it up' and get to work. I passed the phone to the nurse. She was all kinds of professional 'got no time for your shit'. Love her. If I was capable of laughing I would have.

The fact that this story is apparently considered unusual and heart-warming is just a huge red flag for the conditions in the US as a whole. In virtually all other western democracies you get time off to care for dying family members by law. You also get paid sick leave, paid leave when your kids are sick, paid days off when you're attending important family functions or when you're moving. You know, like humans as opposed to animals...

I went to the doctor because the heel on my right foot was swelling a little. I was given some gel for the pain and I was advised to wear comfortable footwear (slippers). My team leader knew about my foot because I called her before seeing a doctor. I went to work the next day and immediately my team leader called on me. She said I'm not supposed to wear slippers in the office. I explained how painful it was to wear shoes with a painful heel but apparently, she wasn't complaining about my right foot wearing slippers. She said I should be wearing shoes on my left foot 😑
I said that it was ridiculous to wear unmatching footwear. She said I should have asked for a note from my doctor and insisted I go home to get a shoe for my left foot 😑
Thankfully, I have my doctors phone number in my phone and I told her she could call him. She agreed then called him and placed him on speaker. After she explained why she called him, she asked if he REALLY advised me to wear slippers. He replied with: "are you stupid? Why would you insist on making your team mate wear mismatched shoes? She's already in pain and you want to make her look ridiculous with mismatched shoes? Grow a heart!
I couldn't hide my smile during the phone conversation.

She was rude and belittled us all the time or blamed her own mistakes on us causing us to be written up multiple times. The four of us all quit on the same day which was a week before finals (when we’d get “fired”) called her bluff lol She PANICKED and frantically called all of us to come back 😂 it felt SOO good to say NO. even better we found out she was fired for causing a whole shift of workers to quit. My general manager continued to schedule me alone in the morning when shipment came in which made me have to carry heavy boxes into the freezer and fridge or the food would go bad. I had my doctor write him a note about it and my he promised to stop scheduling me alone on those mornings. A few days later he left for a week vacation and put up the schedule late the night so I would see it when I got there in the morning and he was already gone, he had scheduled me alone again on both shipment days that week. So I locked up the store before it even opened and left for good.

She then walked me to the general managers office to ask when I could do my orientation and he looked at my stomach and rudely said "you can't f*cking hire her, she's pregnant". When got to my car I called the human rights department and the nursing home offered me the job which I said no to so they had to pay me 6 months with of wages I would of had. However, something went down in or around 1988 because the dad owned four stores and within a year of our store closing, the other three were gone. The original store had been an institution in our area for 30 years. Dad retired and son didn’t get the business. I have to assume something big went down.

My favorite story was that, because I walked out with only a few minutes warning, I forgot that I left a bottled fruit smoothie in the "executive" refrigerator. Two weeks later, the smoothie bloated and exploded, covering the inside of the fridge with foul-smelling purple gunk. Professionals had to be called to clean it up. My husband was working for Office Depot during the first year of our marriage. He was offered a position that would have had hours completely opposite of mine. Basically we would never see each other. He turned it down because we wanted to, oh you know see each other. His supervisor was offended that he would prioritize his wife over his job. So, she scheduled him for the same hours as the position he turned down out of spite. We typically had lunch together because our jobs were within a mile. So that day he had me pick him up for lunch and drive him home instead of going back in to work. When his supervisor called him after two hours to ask if he was coming back in he told her exactly why he left. She tried to use the threat of never being able to work for the company again due to no notice but he obviously doesn't care. He still loves the fact that he can't work there 20 years later. Lol

Many years ago I had a boss who was so utterly lacking in compassion I wanted to slap him. My sister’s long term partner passed away over a weekend from cancer when she was only 39. First thing Monday I went to see my boss to tell him I’d need 2 days off for the funeral (I lived a few hundred miles away from my sister so it wasn’t like I could get there & back in a day) - I explained the situation to him & the very first thing he said was “well they weren’t married so you don’t qualify for compassionate leave”. I hadn’t actually asked for compassionate leave but the fact he said that made me so angry. They weren’t married because civil partnerships or marriage for same sex couples still weren’t legal. So, I took a step back from his desk & in as loud a voice as possible (without shouting) said “ok, so you’re saying that if my sister & her partner had been straight & therefore allowed to marry I would qualify for compassionate leave but because they were a gay couple you’re denying it? Fine, just put all that into an email for me so I have a written record of what you’ve said”. My boss worked in an open plan office so ALL the other senior managers & directors heard our exchange. I’ve never had a manager backpedal what they’ve said so damn fast.

I used to work at a mall doing janitorial duties. The main part of the job was to mind the area of the food court. Make sure the tables were wiped, food swept up off the floor and trash bins emptied as needed. The boss lady was this twitchy thing who wouldn't even look at you when she spoke. Henceforth known as "Twitchy". I have a very hard time with eye contact and I feel super wierd doing it like staring someone down. But Twitchy would literally look up in the air or talk while looking to the side. She would even turn her back to you and talk. If you walked up to her, she would turn aside. This was odd enough, but she had a very odd demand. The little brooms we had were these short flimsy things that paired with a little rolling dustpan (Janitors, you know the ones. Brown plastic bins with wheels, a flat edge for sweeping stuff into. On a little black handle. They flip up when you pick them up.) If you worked there, you HAD to have your broom/dustpan kit with you AT ALL TIMES! I was wiping tables and leaned mine against the wall nearby. Here comes Twitchy huffing over. She snatches up the broom and dustpan and thrusts it at me. "You can never set this down! Someone may trip on it!!" and walks off. I look around at ALL the people there after closing time.. Yep.
One day I'm told to go empty trash. I didn't even take the broom & dustpan with me. I took the bin and began to collect the trash. About 3 trash cans in, I see her furiously marching toward me, carrying that damn broom and dustpan. "YOU CAN NOT JUST LEAVE THIS SITTING!" The jans it into my chest, literally hitting me with it. "HOLD ONTO IT!" I Got loud myself and asked "How the hell do I wipe tables and change trashbags with these stupid things in my hands?!" Her response was "I don't care! YOU figure it out!" And stormed off.
The mall was a two level place. Again, you know how these places are. the lower level is solid floor, while the upper level has openings with railing around them. Well this mall had thick tempered glass panels about 4 feet high, below a metal railing. OH you already know the nightmare that was with all the little brats smushing their funky, sticky hands and faces all over them..
The final straw came the night Twitchy told me to go clean the OUTSIDES of those glass barriers. I told her that I can't reach all the way down. She said "Just lean over! Hop up on them and hang if you have to. Just DO IT!" Yeah, Just lean over a rail with a 20 foot drop on the other side.. SURE! I went back to the supply room, made a phone call, picked up my broom and dustpan. Went back into her office and dropped them on her desk, spilling her cup of venty grandy foo-foo-frappi what the fucko (Large coffee with creamer. It was Large. Coffee. With creamer.) all over her desk. This was the first time the bitch looked at me. I looked her in the eye and said "Do it yourself. I quit. Good luck explaining to OSHA the demands you just made. I just called them." I walked out.
I heard from other employees that she was fired a month later.

I once worked as a part of a maintenance team in a hotel.
Our department was sorely understaffed. There were supposed to be 7 of us, but there was only 3.
The management decided to cut costs, by reducing our department down to just 1 of us.
We were told that whoever could prove themselves the most loyal, would keep their job.
We had a month to do it in.
Within a couple of weeks, we all found new jobs, and quite on the same day.
There was a lot of information needed for any new crew maintenance employee. Which we never left.
We also restricted a few water valves, so the rooms would keep running out of water.
Apparently it took them a long time to get any permanent replacement staff.
The water issues took more than two years before it was fixed.
They ended up having to keep getting in external contractors.
It cost them a lot more money, than if they had continued to employ us, or even employ a full crew.
They ended up selling up in the end.

I left a job I loved because we were understaffed to the point where we were working 50+ hour weeks. My boss and his boss thought it was fine that no one in my department could go on vacation or be sick without the rest of us working overtime. We were "optimally staffed" and "whining" about six day work weeks, while being told to "avoid overtime." My coworker gave them five months notice that she was going on maternity leave, and in those five months, all they did was fire our department head and not replace him. Instead, we suddenly had to cross train a different department to use a program we took college courses to learn, and then babysit them while trying to make deadlines. All while being told we were "negative" and "not team players" and "it's not so bad" and "why did you miss deadline by three minutes, this is unacceptable." We never could take breaks, we ate at our desks while working.
The final straw for me was putting in all those hours just for my boss to give my coworker with the least seniority the day off for Christmas, but I was expected to be there. I gave him my two weeks, and our third coworker refused to work, so my boss had to come in, on Christmas Day, and do my job with a program he didn't know. I hear it's still just as bad for that department, so I guess he didn't learn a damn thing.

When I got home I emailed him, all the co-workers, and all the businesses we do maintenance for. But the honest truth was that she was too lazy to do her job properly. Instead of trying to work out schedules that would help the workers get more hours, she just hired more people. She talked about people behind their backs, tried to start drama between the workers, and even doctored the hours she worked. I tried to keep things as above board as I could, but eventually I had too much and quit. I found out about two months later that she was telling all the customers who asked where I was that I had died. Thankfully now I work for a small company that cares about their employees and have an awesome boss who truly cares about her staff, so much so that she actually tells me to work LESS when she thinks I am overwhelming myself.

The brain surgery / death in the family stories aside (absolutely inexcusable), I have witnessed, first hand, as many "bad employee" or "bad co-worker" stories as "bad manager" stories. Over the years I have worked all ends of the spectrum. I once had to fire a frazzled young man for closing the hospital snack shop early, with a long line of people telling them "My finals are more important than your cancer issues".
This young man had many redeeming qualities, but customer service wasn't one of them. When I met with him to let him go. He said "Oh thank God; I really hate people!" and then he hugged me.
So yes, there are bad managers, but there are also bad employees and toxic co-workers. But mostly, not every job is a good fit for a workers skill set or their personality...people often miss their calling for the sake of a paycheck which makes for miserable people at jobs they hate.

I worked for a small company (literally 2 older women) doing legal transcription for about 8 months before it went to hell. At first they were so impressed with my MAD SKILLS that they paid to have me certified within 2 months so I could do the more discretionary cases that were not accessible by the public.
I still miss the work. It was SO BADASS.
Everything went great until it slipped in casual chit-chat that I had started taking antidepressants and that they were making me feel better. They immediately started treating me differently and started telling me that they'd noticed in the past month or two that my work had been of poor quality... I hadn't even been taking them for that long.
One morning I was about 5 minutes late to the office. They knew I had issues with nausea in the morning, and they had never had a problem with me being late before (I would just end my lunch 10 minutes early and get back to work, which never bothered me as I owed them 5-10 min and I loved my work). But this morning was different. First thing the owner said to me was that this was unacceptable and that I wasn't going to be working that day. I turned to leave without a word and she screeched that she wasn't done. I said "well I am" and left.
I got some nasty texts from my coworker who ended up COMING TO MY HOUSE to collect my key. She stood outside my door, arms crossed with an angry stare that I can only compare to a livid grandmother ready to scold. Handed her the key without a word and shut the door behind me before she could say anything.
Never went back, but did get a voicemail AND email (several months apart) within the next 6-8 months BEGGING ME TO COME BACK. Lol, fuck no

It's getting better, more people are becoming better educated but it's still pot luck as to whether it will be considered "acceptable". Only if the management has had personal experience with mental illnesses is it usually treated with care and understanding. People can be moronically judgemental twats. The day shift acted as if they were rich money and we were the maids. About 6 months before I started there, the company bought these expensive chairs that could contoured to the way we liked them. The day shift though, acted as if they owned the chairs. Most put their names on the chairs in marker and about 50% of the set the chair to the position they liked and proceeded to steal to parts needed to changed how the chair was set. We lowly people working the afternoon shift were a smart bunch of people. We use tools to reset the chairs to how we liked them and most of the time the day shift no longer had the pieces the fix the chair so they would have to resort to doing what we did. The last straw was when we started coming into work and finding rude notes, telling us to stop screwing with the chairs. I, being the biggest guy there proceeded to help people on the afternoon shift fix the chairs to how they liked them, but I set them so tightly it was impossible to reset them. We also took a chemical we used on an everyday basis to remove magic marker and removed the names on the chairs and moved the chairs to different places. Suck it, day shift!

I work in a low paying factory now, and the day shift also does things like that. I wonder if that's just a dayshift thing. My factory doesn't even have a supervisor on my shift, so they get to run to the supervisor, HR, AND the plant manager with their complaints. While we run a skeleton crew with none of that.

In my early twenties I was a single mom of one little boy. I worked at a factory which paid decent. I was able to take care of us alone with no financial help from anyone else. It was hard work and hot as hell. I worked there for 9 yrs. they had a crazy policy about being late & missing days. They had a point system when you get so many like 7 you’re fired. Twenty years later and I still have nightmares that I’m a minute late for work & get fired because yes you clock in 1 minute late you get a point.

How are you suppose to do the job (customer service) when you are so stressed and aggravated about things you can't control? Late days (even 1 minute), sick days, emergency surgery....all get you points. 7 and you are fired! Supervisors just say their "following orders." No one cares about mental health....though they talk a good game. PS...in US study found people take average of 14 sick says a year. ?!?!

We should work like "slaves" as what one director told us. My manager was such an evil, fake, manipulative person. Amazon hates managers who were pro-employees. I worked at a store called Lerner back in the late 80s. It was in a mall and there was a sidewalk sale going on. Our district mgr had come in "to help" and had piled a ton of purses on a table outside and I was the one who had to attempt to keep them straightened up. Purses do not stay straightened up on a table during a sidewalk sale on a holiday weekend, no matter how much you try to keep at it. I finally just gave up trying if people were looking and pawing through them and would fix it after they left. This wasn't good enough for the DM...after she came out and looked at it twice she told me I needed to keep it straight, to which I said it was impossible when people were constantly looking through them. She said I could "stay and conform or get my purse and leave" I hope she had fun keeping that table straight!

Eventually they stopped listening to me, decided to change from walk-ins to appointments without telling anyone, including me. My resignation letter went out that evening. I should add that during my time there we had not one but two other DVMs walk off the job, which is practically unheard of my profession. If you only knew the horrors that employers visit upon their employees - in our 'polite' and 'civilized' Canada just as much as in the US...
BTW, it is not by accident that e.g. in Ontario, something like 89% of all legal complaints against employers are filed with the Ontario Ministry of Labour only AFTER the employee has quit. Most people are so afraid of their managers - and the Ministry is so lacking in enforcing even the most basic laws - that people are absolutely terrified of raising their voice. Of course, the fact that the Ministry's standard process is to respond to every complaint (I am not making this up!) by automatically contacting the employer and asking them to resolve the problem in an extrajudicial manner doesn't help either...

I used to work security for a large company that would send you to different sites. I spent about a year at one, then a year at another. I learned the difference between a good boss and a bad boss.
Good boss: wouldn't call to see if we could cover call offs, but had a system in place. If a person called off, there was a person written on the schedule ahead of time whose day it was to stay 4 hours late to cover with an extra break added in. There would be another person who would be on call to come in 4 hours early. Each person only had one of these a week, and it was scheduled in advance so you could plan to either be up early or have to stay late. If the person who was on call to come in early was also sick (happened once) the boss would come in and cover those 4 hours himself. Great guy.
Bad boss: would just go down the phone tree calling everyone to come in. Refused to cover anyone else's shift (especially if it was 3rd shift). When I suggested the good boss's tactic, he laughed and said it would never work. He frequently left other shifts short handed because he'd refuse to cover them, but would expect us to drop everything or pick up in the middle of our sleep schedule to come in and cover. If no one could cover, the previous shift had to stay the for the next shift (working a 16) or be written up for abandoning their post (that can get you fired)

The after work hours calls are so obnoxious, that's the reason I'm thinking about moving to Portugal, they just recently passed a law making it illegal for employers to call their employees after work hours, we need something like this in the US too, it's been over 12 years since my last retail service job and I'm definitely not in a hurry to go back

I am Portuguese and honestly I have never received calls/texts after work about work (maybe a few ones but only sporadically and urgent). Or heard of anyone here having that problem. I heard of this law probably the same way you did, thru facebook news and following comments.
Some other Portuguese people in the comments though said they did have invasive calls from work. I suppose that if you continuously allow that, it becomes the norm for that boss...

@@neliaferreira9983 it's because here most people are conditioned to believe that it's a virtue to "go the extra mile" or to "pick up the slack" or show how dedicated you are to the company based on a promise of higher wages and more benefits. They use euphemisms such as "team player" and "company pride' to convince their workers that somehow the success of the company would benefit them. Most people are so broke they're willing to put up with it because they got bills to pay and families to support, if even one thing in life goes wrong them it gets twice as bad, I heard about this law from an online sources but for me it wasn't so much about the legitimacy of the story but the need for this conversation to happen

Story time! I used to work for a BANK and you'd think "oh that sounds professional" but nope. First week I can't find my boss anywhere, turns out she's been stealing money from this bank and signing forged documents for loans that were never meant to be approved but she forced approval (got caught, fled the country, is now on a wanted list) all this before I even started working there. Then my second boss comes along and he's sexually harassed most my coworkers! Like we had to band together with all our experiences and HR took weeks to get proper evidence (explicit snaps sent to some of the women, they had to review some footage from his office, etc) to fire him since he was all buddy buddy with an executive higher up somewhere. Anyways 3rd boss comes along and we all hate her. She's intolerant and did not believe any sickness or mental health issues which led to all my coworkers leaving. In the end I was the main one left on my team and we were so short staffed that branch got closed. Needless to say, I immediately quit and I'm just doing better. But what a year! Yes this all happened in one year, and I need a vacation

Fucking banks… I worked at one too. For a year and 8 months. A year and 5 months were during the pandemic… so only three normal months. Shit was insane. The institution was a hot mess. Aged me considerably.

First guy has a really good voice and a knack for writing catchy songs. My doctor had to write my husband a note saying my surgery required me to be sitting on my butt for a long time as I had reconstructed surgery on each foot at different times. I was unable to get around well and needed help. He is active duty Army and for the most part they’re good at letting soldiers have time off for themselves or family members for medical purposes. Unfortunately he was working under a civilian who is retired military but loved to throw it around and refused to let him have his time off that was schedule and approved ahead of time. So I had gotten the ok and had a friend drive me to his building and I set up in the hallway (with permission of course) and made sure she saw me.

Yas 👏 loved this, people need to band together more like this to teach people (bosses, supervisors, and others) to value good workers, but also get rid of lazy ones especially those who hand over work to others that was meant for them.

That cake was from a guy who started baking as a stress relief, word of mouth got him a lot of customers and finally he just quit his job in-IIRC-security. His baking really took off after that and he was much happier being self-employed.

I’m a manager and the only time I ever ask for proof of them being absent (doctors note, or whatever it may be) is if they already have an attendance issue, like calling off day of at least once a week or something along those lines. I think that’s fair. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Employees need to demand better treatment! I’m 32 and I work in a demand field that has high “unliving yourself” rates in the veterinary field. I finally left a public review on a place and a person that bullied me. DEMAND BETTER! We won’t get treated better until we demand it!

Was showing your page to my sister and we both love you and all the great stuff you talk about. She told me my shoes story I should tell you.
This was in 2006 and I works for Travel Centers of America at the time, my mom only had a couple of weeks to live so I informed my boss and he was glad I told him so he could let a couple others on call for when she died. Well she died on a Tuesday and her funeral was on Friday at 1:00pm. At about 11 am Friday my boss calls to ask if I can come in after the funeral because his wife said he couldn't cover my shift cause she had plans for them to get away for the weekend and he lead me to believe I would be fired if I didn't come in. Well I was in tears and my uncle had just got to our house and was bugging me and when I told him what my boss said he starts to laugh as he worked for 31 years in ND department of and said that it was illegal since my company has a 3 day mourning policy. He told me to call HE and explain. So I did, the person I talked to was livid she was so mad, told me not to worry and that even if I was to work both Saturday n Sunday to take them both off with pay. So Monday comes and when I get to work I should have relieved my boss, but instead it was the assistant and she told me that he had bullied others and they had complain about it and so he got fired. The best part was that she was made manager and I got a raise and was the new assistant manager now. I had been planning to quit because of him, but ended up staying 3 more years.

These warm my heart. I’ve had many horrible bosses in my lifetime and I’m so happy now that Covid has created a situation where people can find a better job and they can leave these abusive managers to fend for themselves. Power to the workers.
