*Every year I come to watch this and NEVER tire of the beauty and artistry of this great artist who is unnamed and clearly one of the best Flamenco dancers of all time. THIS is real flamenco. Anyone criticizing this amazing dancer has no idea what real flamenco dancing is about. He was right in saying that real flamenco doesn't need fancy clothes, sets or settings. Real flamenco comes from the heart..and should not be separated from those watching as if it's something holy. It is a dance of the heart..and those here criticizing this dancer are doing so because they want fancy clothes and stages..and don't want to see a sweaty man showing us all the love he feels inside through his artistry. I bow to this man in reverence and admiration.* 😌❤ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜 🖤 🤍 🤎
THIS is real flamenco. Anyone criticizing this amazing dancer has no idea what real flamenco dancing is about. He was right in saying that real flamenco doesn't need fancy clothes, sets or settings. Because I love him the way he is. He is an amazing poet and a writer. There is no person in the world that has an ability to do everything you like. I mean that would practically impossible. My list is endless. Magicians, dancers, singers. I think those all very awesome abilities. But just because a person does not know how to do something does not make them any less of a caring person ;)
Realmente feliz de ver arte y mas arte entre personas sencillas , el flamenco es mi vida después de Dios y mi Madre es lo que mas amo en esta vida , que viva el flamenco
Awesome Flamenco Dancer! Yeah Spain is full of real talent on the streets and the best Flamenco Dancers are on the streets. Viva la madre Patria Espana!!!
You probably meant that as a joke, but it's is not necessarily the other way around. Flamenco is first referred to in history from the early 18th century, although the custom probably originated from a fusion of Romani dancing and Andalucian Arab-influenced singing. Irish step is recorded from the 17th century and was heavily influenced by the quadrille, English square dance and the lancier. In any case, it's not a competition between two cultures. Both are lovely dances.
As flamenco artists and critics began to explore the elements of Gitano (Gypsy) performance, they rediscovered the rich Arab influence in flamenco. The art form's basic building blocks-sung poetry and music-were borrowed from the Arabs and Berbers who ruled al-Andalus from 711 to 1492, when the Moors were expelled from Spain. Many European traditions have a Middle Eastern background. For example..bagpipes originate from ancient Egypt and were brought to Scotland by invading Roman Legions. We truly are all united and one race.
Raven your Honesty made me shiver, thank you ! "Because I love him the way he is" summs all women perception up - means women dream to be dominated by a fairytale men, but because men are whimps they settle with what they find. Thank you Raven, I learned something today.
Trying to define Flamenco today is like trying to define Jazz. Yes, you can be a purist, but the best performers are those who grow just as Flamenco has grown since it was termed Flamenco. "The more you study Flamenco, the more you realize how much more there is to learn." First and foremost, it's a dance of passion and it's having duende when you let go and give yourself to the music.
Flamenco is derived from Indian dances, Kathak & others which it still very much resembles. It came with the original Gypsies who were from India. It has some other influences as well but it's roots are very much Indian.
I can see how you would think that, but many cultures, from the Native Americans in the USA, to African tribes, use arm movements. The main element of flamenco is not the arm movements, but the foot work and dancing. The rhythm of the feet, the intricate dance patterns, and especially the tapping and pounding on wood for sound effects, is something not even remotely found in any Indian dance that I could find. This is why Spain is considered the birthplace of Flamenco. =)
yes because byzantynes were in spain as we and the core of flamenco's chant is the "cante jondo" or deep chant that is very similar like bizantyne religious chant.
Rumi
most beautiful sexy and elegant dance ever. you don't dance just with your body, but the expression u put on your face, the hands and arms moves are great. all combined are magnificent
@beginiss I cannot disagree with what you said because I don't know when or how Flamenco became what it is today, but I just wanted to add, since you mentioned the moors, that there is still a form of tap dance in Morocco today. It has not been refined into a professional art form like Flamenco and it remained a folk dance only seen in weddings and family events. May be one day it'll receive some attention. I've always wondered about the connection if any to Flamenco.
I like ancient history ,lol. I didn't know that they forbid them to dance flamenco. I actually read something today that said that in the 1600's gypsies weren't allowed to own musical instruments in Spain. The only music they could make was with their voice. It wasn't until the 1700's that they were allowed to own them and create such beautiful music.
His footwork is actually very unimaginative, and he goes off beat quite often. At first, I would watch this guy with amazement, but the more I get to know flamenco, the more I knew better. Let's just say being a sexy Spaniard without his shirt on didn't do him any harm in the busking sense.
But settling does not mean your unhappy or that your boyfriend/husband is boring. It just means that you realize no one person can do everything. Just like I know I can't be every single fantasy for my boyfriend. So yes I do wish my boyfriend could dance, but at the same time I know he has many other talents that I admire very deeply. :)
But dancing is just one aspect in a man I admire. You don't need all the requirements on your partner checklist in order to be happy. Just as long as your partner can give you the most important ones. Things like loyalty, humor and I'm a sucker for a man who has a way with words. So I think you can be happy even if you don't get everything you want. Cake is still delicious even when you don't get ice cream with it. Sorry for my pathetic metaphor ;)

The amount of energy he is expending to remain within that tight space and improvise so magnificently, no wonder he has his shirt off, he's on fire!
The guy playing the cajon is also amazing!! Ole ole ole!
I am taking a class in spanish dance, we are working on Flamenco now. Needless to say, I stand in awe of this man's style. Bravo! Ole!

As raw and as torrid as it gets!

Correction: It's the OTHER WAY AROUND. The Irish took Flamenco and made it their own..but the origins are from Spain.
Never forget that! =)
Cierto mucho talento
