I did it last year Dave,my advice would be to avoid the feed stations they are chaos,those in the know stopped at local shops in the villages,Good Luck👍
Interesting you can fuel your body by flooding the system with sugar/carbs. But in time our Insulin is unable to continue its work,leading to Insulin Resistance,Heart Problems,Inflammation related issues,Diabetes… worth looking at the work of Prof. Tim Noakes and others. Low Carb,Keto-Carnivore,Fat adaption for endurance athletes.
I am a type 2 diabetic with a1c numbers as good as non-diabetics, the mechanism for glucose absorption into the muscle during intense aerobic exercise is independent of insulin. As long as your dosage of carbohydrates is reasonable to your workload it’s perfectly healthy. Doing the work is the best time to ingest simple carbs.
