- When reading this videos title, you probably think i'm referring to a number of different things, such as Kendrick Lamar saying Cole's beats are TRASH on "The Jig is Up" or when J. Cole and K. Dot hinted at a collab album MULTIPLE times throughout their career. However, this actually dates back way further to 2010. When the 2 legends had met for the very first time during the XXL Freshmen List cover shoot. Kendrick expresses in his song Heart Pt. 1 that he offered to take Cole's spot on the list since Cole was over 8 hours late, which resulted in EVERYONE laughing.... Crazy to look back at.

The whole lyric reads, “I pray to God this beat is good enough for Shyne, If not J. Cole, your shit is trash”. Some rapper named Shyne years ago was saying Good Kid MAAD City was a trash album. And J Cole produced the song that Kendrick said that lyric on. Kendrick was being sarcastic, saying that if that beat isn’t good enough for Shyne, then J Cole’s shit is trash.

It was a diss aimed at Shyne, whose opinion of Good Kid Maad City was that it was "trash" and not a classic. Cole actually produced The Jig Is Up. Which is why he followed that line up with "Well at least my opinion just made everyone laugh". As opposed to Shyne's opinion, which was clearly received as a hater's response

That's actually not the first time they met. They met at an underground show I think for pac div back in the day. Cole and Kendrick were on stage. Cole started rapping .. then Kendrick grabbed the mic and went the Fuck off LoL the rest is history. I remember these days fondly, I remember going to the pop up for overly dedicated and the whole tde was there pre fame and Kendrick stood on the table top and performed a couple tracks from the Collab album he did with jcole (songs definitely exist) super fire. You can probably still find portions of that day in UA-cam.
