Oh shit ... sorry but how she sat there so still through that moulding process Is beyond me! I struggled with the regular contacts we use today. Thank you to our ancestors & also sorry they had to go through that
I have a suspicion that she had the same lenses previously and this was a "re-fit". She left the clinic so casually and briskly. When I first was fit with hard lenses, I was only permitted to wear them "around the house" until I became used to them. I was dizzy and disoriented..
@@foureyedchick "Scleral" lenses are now "all the rage" among certain Doctors.. They are now gas permeable and very expensive, used for persons who had failed Lasik surgery, dry eyes and corneal abnormalities.
Actually, for certain prescriptions and eye conditions, this same type of lens is gaining in popularity now. They are made of gas permeable plastics and more easily worn. They are popular for persons with dry eyes, failed Lasik surgery, and corneal irregularities. They rest on the Sclera ( white ) of the eye and do not touch the cornea.
I was surprised they did not fit her with corneal lenses, but perhaps due to her very strong prescription scleral lenses were chosen. The early corneal lenses were loosely fit and "popping out" was not uncommon, this would be horrific for a person wearing say, a minus 14 power ( which is quite blind )...
I just got fitted for contacts today. I’m now thankful that it is the year 2020.
I bet you were thankful it was 2020...at the time 😂
@@DannyJCanAmaze Looking back, I would’ve gone through vintage contact fitting instead of 2020😔
This didn't age well...
I'm more shocked 2020 was 2 years ago already 😭
3 years.
That moulding process... 🥚👄👁

They still fit lenses in the same manner for patients who have had failed Lasik surgery, dry eyes or difficult prescriptions.
omg my mother had her first pair of hard contact lenses in 1954, in Paris. Made in the US. it costed like 2 months wages at the time.
My first pair in 1962 was $ 600.00

I wear scelera hard contact lenses and the process of putting them on is still the same till this day. Thank god for the technology that we have now.
I doubt they are scleral contacts but corneal. But, if they are scleral, then you have a doctor from another age!

@1953childstar That's good news! Nice to hear!
Look how technology changed so much for the best 👏

How interesting !! Wish it had sound :(
Lack of sound makes it even more creepy
I just got fitted for contact lenses today. Got my trial pair and they feel great.
I'd rather just wear glasses thanks
She had a -15 prescription… I doubt if you would enjoy wearing those...
thank jebus for silicone holy shit
Better than most fight videos
So this is what torture in the 50s looked like.
At the same time they had corneal lenses. Her prescription was very strong ( -15.00 )...
Jesús christ lmao . And I struggled with my daily throw away ones 🤣
So they just pretended like they were comfortable to wear all day? 😩😩😩
No, there are people who wear them today.. Especially those who had failed Lasik surgery..
No gloves!
Well? The poor lady doesn't want to stay single. She's got to resort to desperate measures.
These type of lenses are still available today…and I have them and they’re better than hydro gel lenses.
Can you link a website?
@@user-fj6ds2cg5z It is a specialized field and only certain Doctors fit them. Google "Scleral lenses"...
Guauuu, cuanto avance , gracias por existir en 2020¡¡
E essas lentes antigas nao dava úlcera de córnea? Porque parece ser tão sem higiene
They did not touch the cornea...
They were so big back then!
