Thank you so much! This is all i can pay you for your help! Without your video i would have never been able to get my AC into the window! Thank youtube for the Super Thanks , at least i can pay you a few bucks for your effort to make this great video!!!
TIP: I've left this tip on other sites and it seems to be helpful. immediately after unboxing, and before installing the other parts, plug it in and let it run for 5 or 10 minutes to make sure it actually works. This way if you have to take it back to the store, you don't have a lot of pieces to take back off and repack. I learned this the hard way.
As a single lady living on my own and doing everything on my own for the first time in my life, stuff like this is so intimidating and overwhelming. I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing half the time. This video was SO helpful! Thank you so much! My window unit is getting delivered today and I feel so much more comfortable and confident after watching this 😊😊😊
I dont usually review shit but I’m hella baked and my AC just came on a hot ass day. The drop from the window is atleast 20 feet and I was so nervous I was bouta either kill someone or waste my money by it falling to the cement. This video made it so simple. You deserve this like my guy💯💯💯
Good job for those that feel intimidated over installing their own air conditioner now the hot weather has hit. Heres a tip , when you see air conditioners on sale when its cold , grab one because stores sell out once heat waves hit.
@Furiosa oh ya used , mostly like new on secondary market. Private sale is the way to go. Bought my first one for 50$ when i bought my first home. I was 22. It still works beauty. Lol. Dont build em like the old days
The attention to details I had never thought of was excellent. I am installing a unit tomorrow and that slight downhill tilt for moisture fall away was something that had not x my mind. You can tell this is my first install. The accent was also charming.
Very good video! I have an old GE that needs replacing. It is in a casement window- must have been installed by a carpenter as it has beautiful matching woodwork surrounds, and fits in the bottom half of the window (the top window must have been custom made-it is only 1/2 window). The A/C has a medal frame around it, which the front of the unit clicks into, and I am hoping to be able to keep the woodworking in place when we have a new A/C installed. The metal framework that your A/C is anchored into with screws helped me understand how an A/C fits the window- thank you!!
Like the other posters, gee thanks for explaining this in simple terms that even my wife could understand. If you tell her that I'll just have to say you lie a lot. I'm looking at adding a window unit to the far side of the house to see if it'll help with the central Air Conditioner. The heat wave we are experiencing is brutal here in South Texas, and I mean brutal. Great video with the best instructions so far...
Recently moved apartments but still am the neighbor to some of my relatives we use to live 7 but now its 4 & 4 since they had a kid. Anyways this video helped us install 2 A.C's today appreciate it
That was so simple and straightforward. I think I can do that on my own without having to call around 4 help. Can you mention what type of air conditioner that is and what amount you pay for it? My central air unit went out and I'm not financially prepared to put in a new one so I think this will be a nice idea upstairs. Thank you for your video
This was an awesome video. It explained so much to me about how to install a window unit that the written instructions don't clearly explain. I should be able to install one with no problem other than needing a bit of help with the weight of the unit. Thank you!
That was a helpful video, especially the part about using the wood spacer. It's something many people wouldn't have thought of - even if it was mentioned in the installation instructions (Ha!).
Awesome tutorial! About to install this coming Thursday and just hopes the unit I'm buying comes with all the equipments you used to seal the unit. Thanks much!
Our home ac quit working this past week and I’ve been trying to find ways of cooling without purchasing a new unit. I sure don’t have $10k hanging around. Someone suggested getting a window unit. Than you for your explanation and how to. Very helpful.
GE is a good, affordable brand. I've had my little unit in my bedroom going on 4 summers now and it's still as quiet as it was new and even in this high, humid heat, my 10x10 room is cool and comfortable. And I've never even cleaned the filter yet. Will do soon.
Mine is a 8K unit and a 5K would do well for my room, but my AC back is sticking out in a hot, enclosed & sunny front porch. So I need the extra btu's. I guess a 5K would work, but I got the 8K to be sure.
@@broganchapman975 just like it says on the box....good for a 10 x 10 foot room. Not even close to being good enough for the whole house....unless it's a studio apartment that is like 120 square feet lol
Wow thx so much my a/c came in a box with no instructions you made it so easy! The only problem I have is should I use the longer or the shorter screws on the bar across the top of the unit? I’m gonna go with shorter first because I don’t own a drill!
I have now watched your video a few times It has given me the confidence to install this A. I am way frustrated with the side panels what seemed so easy but I can't seem to get them installed. It is very frustrating
Great tip on leveling at 5:25 to allow water to go outside of the house. As first time, we will need to replace an old / dirty AC unit at my kid's apartment this weekend. She does not want to spend money at least a hundred $ so have me do it. Hope it will be an easy swap but never know.
This video got rid of any anxiety I had about installing these. By the way you sound very German. My tutor always pronounced his "w"s and "r"s like you do.
Excellent video, clear, concise and very instructive. Please explain, how to do it in a new wall without a window, just the space for the air conditioner.

hi, I installed a couple of these in site offices years ago. The aircon unit slides out of the box if you pull it forward, then you can put some proper screws into window or wall frame. once outside box is secure, just slide the unit back in 🙂
Good video. Question. Would the AC unit get damaged if the sun was scorching on it real hard? What I mean is that what if I was to place my ac unit to direct sunlight, do you think it would bad for the unit?
Thanks just got one and was having hard time. Might need a screwdriver gun compared to hands on one. And this is so much easier than following the box constructions.
Great video, so far the one that makes the most sense to me. Two questions though, does the unit sit flush with the lip on the bottom window frame? And secondly, when you noticed the unit wasn’t perfectly level according to the level tool, what did you do about it? Can you leave it as is? How do you fix that? 😄😄 just shuffling the unit around until it’s level? Lol
You should watch the part about the leveling again, this time with the sound or CC on. He did NOT want it to be perfectly level. You want it sloping slightly downwards, so the water drains properly, which is what he had.
@@MegaSafetyFirst Are there any pointers you might mention for a window that slides sideways? Any steps you would do differently? Especially when it comes to insulation & the gap above the unit? (My sideways sliding window is probably twice as tall as the unit)
